MMRG letter to The Telegraph sent in 2008 re Metodo 3 and Clarence Mitchell
24 February 2008
The Editor,
Sir,
In a recent edition of your newspaper and on the Internet web site appeared a report that Antonio Jimenez, one of the detectives employed by the Metodo3 detective agency in the search for Madeleine McCann had been accused of criminal activity in connection with a large amount of cocaine.
You then reported Mr Clarence Mitchell.
QUOTE Says Clarence Mitchell: “He is nothing to do with us. He collaborated with Metodo 3 on a project, but that was two years before the company was hired to find Madeleine. We still have faith in the work of Metodo 3.” UNQUOTE
However in November 2007 the Daily Mail reported the following
QUOTE But Metodo’s seasoned investigators did not lightly dismiss Naoual’s story. They were excited to have found someone who claimed to have seen the now-famous “flash” in Madeleine’s iris. After interviewing her at length, they asked her to return with them to Morocco.
So, earlier this month, Naoual quietly slipped back to her home country with a Metodo team led by Antonio Jimenez, the former head of Spain’s national organised crime squad. They spent a week trying to track down Madeleine. UNQUOTE
This is the clearest possible evidence that Mitchell was ignorant of the facts, badly briefed, mistaken, or lying.
I trust that your reporters will try to establish the truth of this matter.
Yours truly
