Having just re-read the above, it raised the following:

5A was potentially empty on the night of 3rd May which could explain why Matt Oldfield said he never went into the bedroom. I always found this to be an odd admission. Why would you bother to go to do a check and then not actually do it? Unless of course, you were just fulfilling your acting role as per the script and leaking the truth!

Why would CP divulge that the twins were not in the room if she was involved?

The twins were possibly elsewhere to enable the body of Madeleine to be removed from the apartment unseen. Then sedated and put back in their beds so they would appear to be sleeping peacefully for the rest of the evening's events.

The night creche register would surely have verified and identified the timing and name of the last person's child to be collected.

The point is, if you read through all the documentation relative to Charlottte Pennington, media reports included, it is plain to see that her stories are contradictory, in a word - false!

I strongly suspect she was rewarded handsomely for her contribution.

At best a fantasist, at worst a nasty bit of work trying to make a buck off the back of a little child.

Either way not helpful.

It's interesting to note that his pair of wannabe celebrities shared a few jollies with two other Ocean Club guests - Neil Berry and Raj Balu - no not he of jungle book fame, at least I don't think so!

Neil Berry made a guest appearance in the Netflix documentary, with tales of his daughters close friendship with Madeleine McCann during that short spring break early May 2007.

A DRAMATIC sighting of missing Madeleine McCann the day after she vanished is being urgently followed up by private investigators.

A man has reported seeing a girl he is now sure was Maddie lying in the back of a van.

She was wearing pyjamas identical to the pair Maddie had on when she was abducted.

The vehicle was white - and other witnesses have recalled seeing a white van near the holiday apartment in Portugal from where she was taken.

A child in pyjamas was also seen being carried by a man at the resort.

New witness Carlos Moreira, 65, has told investigators the little girl he saw was with a man and woman who looked like gipsies.

When shown a previously-unpublished e-fit of a suspect, he identified it as being the van's driver.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

A source close to Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry said last night the sighting was "highly significant" and added: "It could be a key breakthrough."

Maddie, of Rothley, Leics, was three when she disappeared on a family holiday in Praia da Luz, on the Algarve, on May 3 2007.

Portuguese Mr Moreira said he only recently connected his sighting with the Maddie hunt because it was 160 miles from where she vanished.

He was driving from Carregado, near Lisbon, to Alentejo on May 4 when he stopped at a snack bar in the Benavente region at 8am.

He told The Sun: "I saw a white van with the back door open. I saw a girl, lying on a pile of clothes in the back. She was wearing a two-piece pyjama set, pink and white, or yellow. I saw her back, I could see her hands and feet.

"She moved one of her fingers but she was deeply asleep. When the van door was opened, she did not wake up, as if she was drugged."

"This girl was blonde and looked around four. A woman came out of the back of the van. I noted that a strong and tall man, wearing a suit, was in front of the snack bar.

"He looked like a gipsy. He was with the woman from the van, he was younger than her. He told her off for leaving the van."

Mr Moreira said the experience stuck in his mind - but he only realised it could be useful when he saw a cop being asked on TV why roads to the north or to Spain were not blocked after Maddie vanished.

He explained: "The road I saw the van on was such a route."

He said the man he saw was clean-shaven, aged 40 to 42, fat but good-looking. The woman was 60 to 65, fat with grey hair.

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "His account is being looked into. He has done the right thing in coming forward."

Bearing False Witness - Page 3 Empty Re: Bearing False Witness

A certain persons book bares bears a false witness or two or more, it's not difficult to see how the press and media can selectively aid or ruin. The book has this to say., interesting to note how witnesses one and two have been carefully woven together to achieve the desired effect..

KEY SIGHTINGS

Four years on, as we strive to piece together the puzzle of what happened to Madeleine, many questions remain unanswered and several people who may be able to help us have yet to be identified.

The following sightings are still of great interest to us. Explaining them is very important to our continuing investigation, if only to eliminate the individuals concerned from our inquiry. Artists’ impressions and sketches based on the descriptions given by witnesses can be found at the end of the Picture Section.

SIGHTINGS ONE AND TWO

Witness One: Jane Tanner
Witness Two: Holidaymaker from Ireland

These two crucial sightings of a man carrying a child in the street, made around the time of Madeleine’s abduction on the night of 3 May 2007, have been discussed in detail in this book. The description of the man seen by Jane Tanner was eventually made public three weeks after Madeleine’s disappearance and an artist’s impression commissioned by our own investigative team was released in October 2007. Yet to this day no man has come forward to identify himself as the father, relative or family friend of the child in either case.

Although the police appear to have considered these sightings to be unrelated on the basis of the forty-five-minute gap between them, the similarities speak for themselves.
Artist’s impressions of the man seen by Jane Tanner are reproduced at the end of the Picture Section.

Witness One sighting Witness Two sighting

SIGHTINGS THREE TO EIGHT

It was only from the police files, to which we were given access in August 2008, fifteen months after Madeleine’s abduction, that we learned of six sightings by four independent witnesses in the five days prior to her disappearance. A ‘suspicious’ male had been noticed watching our apartment and/or acting oddly nearby. In three of these reports a man was seen standing by the small car park directly opposite the entrance to the Ocean Club’s swimming pool and Tapas restaurant (Ocean Club Waterside Gardens) on Rua Dr Francisco Gentil Martins. In two accounts, a ‘suspicious’ man was observed on the access path between the Ocean Club apartments (which include apartment 5A) and the pool and Tapas restaurant area.

Witness Three
This witness is a young girl whose grandparents used to own apartment 5A. As this flat is familiar and of interest to her, her report is very precise and credible. She saw the same individual watching our apartment closely on two separate days. On Monday, 30 April 2007, at around 8am, she noticed a man standing on the narrow access path running between the apartments and the pool and Tapas restaurant area. He was leaning with his palms against the wall surrounding the garden area of apartment 5A and looking up at the veranda.

On Wednesday, 2 May 2007, the witness saw the same man near the car park opposite the entrance to the pool and Tapas restaurant area on Rua Dr Gentil Martins. He appeared to be just standing there and watching apartment 5A.

Description: Caucasian male; light-skinned; 1.8m (5ft 11ins) tall; slim build; aged 30–35; short cropped hair, thought to be light in colour. He had spots and was ‘ugly, disgusting even’.
Clothing: Thin, black leather jacket; light T-shirt; jeans with belt; trainers; dark, thick-framed sunglasses.
Portrait: Sketch number 1 in the Picture Section.

Witness Four
On Sunday, 29 April 2007, between 8 and 9am, this witness noticed a man loitering on Rua do Ramelhete whose appearance unnerved her. Three days later, in mid-afternoon on Wednesday 2 May, the witness saw the same man on Rua Dr Gentil Martins, on the opposite side of the road to apartment 5A, near the car park across from the entrance to the Ocean Club’s pool and Tapas restaurant area. The witness said that the man was standing still and looking over in the direction of apartment 5A.
Description: Male of Portuguese appearance; approximately 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall; slim build; ‘very ugly – pitted skin with a large nose’.
Clothing: Casual; jeans.
Portrait: Sketch number 2 in the Picture Section.

Witness Five
This witness was walking down Rua Dr Francisco Gentil Martins with his partner around lunchtime on either Wednesday 2 May or Thursday 3 May 2007. They passed a man who was standing by the wall near the car park opposite the entrance to the Ocean Club’s swimming pool and Tapas restaurant. The witness followed the man’s line of sight and reported that he was ‘staring fixedly’ at an area close to our apartment block, where a white van was parked.
Description: Caucasian male with dark skin; assumed to be Portuguese and not a tourist; aged 25–35; 1.7–1.75m (5ft 7ins–5ft 9ins) tall; medium build; short, thick, dark hair reaching collar-level at the back.
Clothing: Plain light-coloured T-shirt.
Portrait: Sketch number 3 in the Picture Section.

Witness Six
On 3 May 2007, this witness was standing on the veranda of a first-floor apartment in the same block as 5A, overlooking the pool and Tapas restaurant area. Some time between 4pm and 5pm, she noticed a man coming out through one of the little gates leading from the terraces of the ground-floor apartments to the access path. His behaviour struck the witness as suspicious: he appeared to be trying to close the gate quietly, using both hands, and very slowly and deliberately checking in both directions before walking to the end of the pathway and on to Rua Dr Gentil Martins. The witness thought this was the first gate along the pathway from the road. If her recollection is correct, it was the gate to apartment 5B, where our friends Matt and Rachael were staying. That afternoon, Rachael, Matt and their daughter were on the beach at Praia da Luz with the rest of our friends. They were away from the Ocean Club complex from before 3pm until 6pm.

Description: Caucasian male; fair-skinned, assumed not to be Portuguese; aged 30–40; medium height; medium–slim build; very fair, cropped hair.
Clothing: Pale T-shirt.

Portrait: Sketch number 4 in the Picture Section.

In terms of both timing and location, these reports are highly relevant to the investigation into Madeleine’s abduction. While the individual concerned may not be the same in all cases, there are certainly common characteristics to suggest that some of these sightings, if not all, could be related.

We believe that identifying these individuals could bring us much closer to finding Madeleine.

Bearing False Witness - Page 3 Empty Re: Bearing False Witness

Considering their status as passing strangers in the night, the partner of Jez Wilkins - Gerry McCann's co-respondent on the night of 3rd May 2007, as Jane 'see no evil hear no evil speak no evil' Tanner was flop flap flipping around the dark streets of Praia da Luz, Bridget O'Donnell certainly got her pound of flesh from the name Madeleine McCann.

In December 2007, she wrote a very flowery account of her association with McCann and four years later I find she had this to say..

Madeleine witness breaks her silence: 'I am certain that Kate McCann is innocent'

13 April 2012

Gerry McCann told a fellow tourist in the minutes before Madeleine vanished he would never have left her alone if he had not been on holiday with friends.

Bridget O'Donnell, who befriended Kate and Gerry McCann while staying at the same resort, today broke her silence to declare the couple innocent.

She described Mr McCann as "relaxed and friendly" at a time when police have claimed Madeleine was already dead in the apartment.

Ms O'Donnell, who worked as a producer on BBC1's Crimewatch, revealed that she had debated with the McCanns the childcare arrangements at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz and recalled admiring them for leaving their children to sleep in their apartment as they ate at a tapas restaurant nearby.

Gerry and Kate McCann: 'relaxed and friendly'

Encounter: Jeremy Wilkins spoke to Gerry McCann

"I admired them, in a way, for not being paranoid parents, but I decided that our apartment was too far off even to contemplate it," Ms O'Donnell said.

She and her partner Jeremy Wilkins saw Gerry and Kate McCann by the pool hours before Madeleine disappeared. "We watched them idly - they had a lot of time for people, they listened," Ms O'Donnell said.

"Kate was calm, still, quietly beautiful. Gerry was confident, proud, silly, strong."

Ms O'Donnell also told for the first time of a crucial encounter that night between Mr Wilkins and Mr McCann just a few minutes before Madeleine went missing.

Mr Wilkins, a television producer, was taking his baby son for a walk in a buggy to try to get him to sleep when he bumped into Mr McCann outside their holiday apartment. Though they were not part of the McCann's group of friends - whom they nicknamed "the Doctors" - Mr Wilkins had played tennis with Mr McCann.

The chance meeting on the night Madeleine vanished has been subject to endless speculation and is critical in confirming timings.

Ms O'Donnell, writing in today's Guardian, said: "Gerry was on his way back from checking on his children and the two men stopped to have a chat. They talked about daughters, fathers, families.

"Gerry was relaxed and friendly. They discussed their baby-sitting dilemmas at the resort and Gerry said that he and Kate would have stayed in too if they had not been on holiday in a group."

Ms O'Donnell told how she and her partner were in their holiday apartment when Madeleine was discovered missing at 10pm on 3 May by Mrs McCann.

"We ate, drank wine, watched a DVD and then went to bed. On the ground floor, a completely catastrophic event was taking place. On the fourth floor of the next block, we were completely oblivious."

They were woken in the night by a friend of the McCanns to help with the search, and shared in the shock and distress that overwhelmed the Mark Warner resort the next morning.

A policeman called with a translator, who turned out to be Robert Murat - soon to be the first official suspect in the case.

He "had a squint and sweated slightly," said Ms O'Donnell. "He was breathless, perhaps a little excited... He reminded me of a boy in my class who was bullied."

Ms O'Donnell criticised police for basic errors, saying that one officer did not appear to have a notebook but wrote their details instead on a scrap of paper, and that he mistook a photocopied picture of Madeleine which she had been given during the search for a photograph of her own daughter.

"My heart sank for the McCanns," she said when reflecting on the quality of the police investigation.

Madeleine vanished on May 3, turning the McCanns' lives to horror

Ms O'Donnell said that two days after Madeleine vanished the appearance of the McCanns - later made official suspects - was in complete contrast to their relaxed manner even in the minutes before the alarm was raised.

"The physical transformation of these two human beings was sickening... Kate's back and shoulders, her hands, her mouth had reshaped themselves into the angular-manifestation of a silent scream," she said, reinforcing claims that Mrs McCann could not be implicated in her daughter's disappearance because even an actor could not fake such anguish.

"Gerry was upright, his lips now drawn into a thin, impenetrable line."

Ms O'Donnell also dispelled conspiracy theories, declaring: "There were no drug-fuelled 'swingers' on our holiday - there was a bunch of ordinary parents worrying about sleep patterns."

Ms O'Donnell added: "Throughout all this I have believed that Gerry and Kate McCann are innocent.

"Secure in our banality, none of us imagined we were being watched. One group made a disastrous decision; Madeleine was vulnerable and was chosen. But in the face of such desperate audacity, it could have been any of us."

It's as well Ms Donnell is not a court judge isn't it.

Madeleine McCann's parents have not been ruled innocent, judge says

Madeleine McCann's parents have not be cleared as innocent in their daughter's disappearance, a Portuguese judge has said.

Kate and Gerry McCann have denied all allegations that they were involved in their three-year-old daughter's disappearance while on holiday in Praia da Luz.

Last week, the couple lost an appeal against the author of a book who alleged they were involved in the toddler’s disappearance.

Portugal’s Supreme Court ruled Kate and Gerry McCann cannot sue the former Portuguese detective who published the book for libel.

The Supreme Court judges said that lifting their status as formal suspects does not mean that they were innocent.

The court said it wasn't their job to determine whether the McCanns bore any criminal responsibility over their daughter's disappearance and said it would be wrong for anyone to draw any inferences about the couple's guilt or innocence from their ruling.

According to the Telegraph, they said: "It should not be said that the appellants were cleared via the ruling announcing the archiving of the criminal case. In truth, that ruling was not made in virtue of Portugal's Public Prosecution Service having acquired the conviction that the appellants hadn't committed a crime.

"The archiving of the case was determined by the fact that public prosecutors hadn't managed to obtain sufficient evidence of the practice of crimes by the appellants.

"There is therefore a significant, and not merely a semantic difference, between the legally admissible foundations of the archive ruling. It doesn't therefore seem acceptable that the ruling, based on the insufficiency of evidence, should be equated to proof of innocence."

They added: "It's true that the aforementioned criminal inquiry ended up being archived, namely because none of the apparent evidence that led to the appellants being made 'arguidos' was subsequently confirmed or consolidated.

"However even the archive ruling raises serious concerns relating to the truth of the allegation that Madeleine was kidnapped."

The McCanns were lifted of the status of a formal suspect in 2008.
