Italian senior priest arrested in Vatican bank probe
Italian authorities have arrested a senior priest on suspicion of fraud and corruption throughout an investigation into the scandal-plagued Vatican’s central bank.


Nunzio Scarano was taken into custody on Friday after a probe of the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR) revealed a suspected international fraud scheme.

Scarano was arrested along with Giovanni Maria Zito, a former member of the Italian secret services and Giovanni Carinzo, a financial broker.

Prosecutors say Scarano paid Zito 400,000 euros (USD 523,000) to transport 20 million euros in cash from Switzerland to Italy onboard Zito’s private jet.

Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said Scarano was suspended from his accounting post at the Vatican’s central bank Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA) nearly a month ago “after his superiors learnt about an investigation into his activities.”

Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica reported that Scaranao is also under investigation by in the city Salerno on suspicion of money laundering.

Only priests, religious, Catholic institutions, employees of Vatican City State and diplomats accredited to the Holy See are allowed to have accounts at the IOR, but the bank reportedly also hosts accounts for Italian politicians and organized crime.

During its 71-year history, the bank has been linked to fraud and money laundering, including a scandal in the 1990s over allegedly laundering heroin profits for the Gambino crime family.

In 2012, the Vatican was criticized by the Moneyval committee of the Council of Europe for its lack of independent supervision over the IOR, which employs over 100 personnel.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, named the new pope on March 13, has embarked on a mission to surmount a range of problems in the Church including sex abuse allegations, squabbling within the Vatican and the threat of secularism.

Writing in an editorial on Vatican Radio's website, Father Federico Lombardi, claimed there were people using "gossip, misinformation and sometimes slander" to discredit the church.......

This is indeed yet another hugely embarrassing Vatican scandal.

That's on top of the news we've had about hundreds of thousands of children being abused by Roman Catholic churches across the globe by the very people they were taught to trust - the priests who set themselves up as 'intermediaries' between the people and God.

If they had read their Bibles, they would soon see that it teaches that people can go straight to God with their prtayers - the 'Our Father' prayer is to God Himself, not to the so-called and wrongly-named 'Holy Father' in Rome.

On top of all the other scandals, we now (this week) have this: priests (allegedly) having sex with rent boys inside the Vatican, procured from local gay discos and prostitution things. Of the many stories about this on the internet, I've chosen a Catholic news source: CathNewsUSA:

Italian investigators have opened an inquiry into claims by a convicted pedophile priest that an underage prostitution ring has been operating inside the Holy Roman Church with clergymen hiring rentboys for sex inside churches.

Patrizio Poggi, 46, told Italian authorities that a former Carabinieri pimped boys for nine clergymen.

Poggi, who served a five-year sentence for abusing teenage boys while he was a parish priest at the San Filippo Neri church in Rome, said he made the allegations to “protect the Holy Church and the Christian community.”

The boys were chosen because they were starving and desperate, he claimed, according to Il Messaggero newspaper.

The former policeman used to recruit the boys, mostly eastern European immigrants, outside a gay bar named Twink near Rome’s Termini train station. He reportedly sat in his Fiat Panda – marked “Emergency Blood” to avoid parking fines – to make his selection.

He was helped in the recruitment process by a friend who ran a modelling agency. He lured underage boys into prostitution through “false work offers for modelling and acting roles”, Poggi said.

The agent also looked for rentboys at gay discos, saunas and gyms across Rome. An accountant was also said to be involved.

The boys were paid €150-€500 (£130-£425) to perform sex acts in church premises across the capital.

Poggi also accused the former Carabinieri of selling consecrated hosts for satanic rites.

Poggi reportedly presented documentary and photographic evidence to police in the company of two senior Vatican clergymen who vouched for his credibility.

Poggi identified the nine clergymen, including two senior church officials and a religion lecturer. Three people have been placed under formal investigation.

The allegations were rejected by the Vatican. Cardinal Agostino Vallini, head of the Catholic Vicariate of Rome, said the priest made false claims out of a desire for vengeance and personal resentment.

The Vatican refused to reinstate Poggi after he served his term.

“The cardinal expresses his full confidence in the magistracy and declares himself full convinced that this slander will be demolished, demonstrating Poggi’s claims to be untrue,” Vallini said.

“God will hold everyone accountable for their deeds.

The Vatican is a den of iniquity, a bolthole for the depraved hiding behind the name of God!

Amyone who thinks otherwise needs their lttile brain cells re-wired.  The female equivalent that hide away, covered from head to foot, in the nunnery are no better.

It's beyond weird!

My view, the subject well deserves more attention - this fred is the place to do it!

The groups who indulge in depravity of the highest order, in more sense than one, no matter what their position in the societal structure, are invariably protected by an impenetrable wall away from prying eyes.  Like the Vatican, the Houses of Parliament, the Royal Household, the BBC ....

The rise of the Papacy was prophesied in three books of the Bible:

It is a completely alien system to true Christianity.

But another evil figure will arise and seek to impose a worldwide government and new worldwide religion before Jesus Christ returns.

The last 4 Popes would have been declared heretics by previous pre-1960s "infallible" teachings.

The Church turned itself on it's head 60 years ago and nobody was supposed to notice - especially Catholics.

We may as well have the Pope's current official title here:

"Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the State of Vatican City, Servant of the Servants of God".

This is a far cry from:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven...Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5 vv 1-12).

The Roman Catholic Church teaches that priests must be celibate, and may not marry, a teaching which is nowhere in the Bible, and which has caused untold human misery, not least in the industrial-scale abuse of children by priests over many centuries. (Indeed, the Apostle Paul's disciple Timothy prophesied that a great false church would arise which would forbid its priests to marry (1 Timothy 4 v 3). 

The Roman Catholic Church insists that Peter was the first Bishop of Rome and that all R.C. priests are in a line of succession from him. Yet Peter was married!

Jesus Christ Himself healed her: (Matthew 8 vv 14-15, Mark 1 vv 29-31, Luke 4 vv 38-39).

Yet the R.C. Church is also wrong about Peter being the first Bishop of the Roman church. They are wrong about so many things!

That honour belongs to Linus (Roman name) or Lleyn (Welsh name), whom the Apostle Paul appointed as the presbyter (bishop) of the Roman church in 68AD, whist he was in Nero's prison. Paul was executed in April that year.

Lleyn was the son of Caradog/Caractacus, the royal, Welsh Commander-in-Chief who was captured by the Romans and taken to Rome in 51AD. Members of his family, such as Lleyn, became Christians i nRome, including four of his grandchildren, all of whom were martyred for their faith in the late first century AD.

Their bodies have a permanent place of honour, as they were all laid to rest in a grave right alongside that of the Apostle Paul, outside Rome.     

Paul mentions Linus/Lleyn, and his sister Claudia/Gladys, and her Roman husband Pudens, in his last-ever words to this world. You can find them in 1 Timothy 4 v 21.
