Day 17: Sunday 20th May 2007
A Day to day life for the McCann's
Our day starts around 6.30am with us all waking up around the same time. We have breakfast with Sean and Amelie and our close family/friends who are here with us. Then its clean nappies and clothes for Sean and Amelie followed by showers etc for the rest of us.
Usually there’s some free time then for a few stories or games with the twins before heading out.
9.00-9.15 We take Sean and Amelie to Kids’ Club. They really enjoy it and run in.
They know the staff well and the staff are all excellent. Both love the domestic corner and Amelie particularly likes to look after ‘babies’. We use the kids club a bit like nursery at home but we think Sean and Amelie still think they are on holiday!
9.30~12.15. We return to the apartments, usually for a series of meetings with our press officer, Mark Warner Reps, occasionally Consulate staff, lawyers and British Liaison officers. During this time we catch up with family and close friends, usually by telephone and discuss ideas how to keep Madeleine’s profile high especially throughout continental Europe.
12.30 Time to pick up Sean and Amelie from Kids’ club then head back to apartment for lunch, which has usually been prepared by one of our family/friends group who have been tremendously supportive.
13.30 –14.30 This is time to spend time playing with the twins either in the apartment or in the play area next to kids club.
14.30-15.00 Usually we take the twins back to Kids’ Club although Sean has had the odd afternoon in the apartment as it’s a bit cooler and he’s not much of a sun worshipper! They have been taking part in many different activities including painting, singing, stories, swimming, trips to the beach and they have lots of toys to play with.
15.00~17.00 We try to get some time together alone, going for a walk to talk things over or getting some exercise. This is often the time for quiet trips to the church for prayers.
17.00-17.30 Meet kids for high tea with other mums and dads. They love pasta and have been doing really well with their vegetables although a few chips have been squeezed in.
17.30-18.30. Games with kids at play area. Amelie loves trying to get in the baby pool!
18.30-19.30 Bath and story time with the twins.
20.00 We put the kids to bed.
20.30-23.00 We try to sit down for a family meal, again usually cooked by one of the small family group out here with us. Chat about the day’s events and plan the next day
23.30 bed and prayer for Madeleine that she will be returned to us safely
ASAP.
In addition to above we try to attend various church services during the week, and make multiple phone calls to family and friends. We try to watch the main news early morning and late evening but have had almost no time to read the newspapers or even look at the pictures!
Kate is a keen runner and in the last few days has tried to include a run in the daily routine. Yesterday (Sat) at 7am we ran to the monument at the top of the steep cliff overlooking Praia de Luz. We reached it in 19 minutes.
-----------
This dear reader is but 17 days after their precious three year old daughter was snatched from her bed by an abductor, most assuredly a paedophile abductor - allegedly.
From me to you..

Day 50: Friday 22nd June 2007
We never thought it would happen: 50 days without Madeleine. Solidarity the world over has been expressed today with the launch of balloons in every continent to remember Madeleine and other missing children. The event in Praia da Luz had considerable media interest as did many other releases the world over. Sean and Amelie released their balloons shortly after kate and I let go our 50 and we were pleased the media respected our wish for the twins not to be photographed any longer. Please send digital images and video of your local event to images@bringmadeleinehome.com
We were not planning to say anything at the launch but there was such a large turnout from Portuguese TV who we have not spoken to for some time that we decided to answer their questions. The beauty of the launch was the local and international dimension with media coverage spreading Madeleines image far and wide.
We have seen the video of the Ullapool (home of the website and my sister Phil) launch, Glasgow and extensive pictures from
Amsterdam. We very much look forward to seeing pictures from all the other venues. One of these balloons may just be found by someone who recognises Madeleine and alerts the authorities.
----------
Yeah sure, a legacy never to be forgotten. One of these balloons may just be found in the gut of a beached whale or someone's precious livestock or even more precious pet. Somewhere, any old where, on this planet that's supposed to be so environmentally aware.
Who need conservation of life when team McCann are on the loose?
"The beauty of the launch was the local and international dimension with media coverage spreading Madeleines image far and wide."
Yeah sure, the beauty of the countryside, waterways and coastal regions will flourish with the addition of balloon debris scattered far and wide.

Wonder if Sean was taking a sun free afternoon in the apartment on the day where his absence from the 'last photo' is conspicuous. If so, it begs the question : Who took that photo , presuming of course that Kate would be with him? Shall we ever know?

The twins should never have been photographed in the first place , especially with the " abductor " still on the loose who could strike again at any time !
26th May , a happy playground photoshoot with the twins , well after all it has been 23 days since " a child " was " taken " hasn't it ?
Responsible parents ? Hah !

Was it habitual for the kids to worship the sun at the crèche I ask myself? Should have taken him to the church on one of their quasi-pious jaunts - that's a pretty cool place to be I hear.

Re: Gerry McCann's Blog - Highlights
Gerry McCann's blog is the real deal - it was written by him as a diary of events following the 'abduction by paedophile' of his precious little three year old daughter Madeleine - or Maddie, depending who you choose to believe. Thanks to pamalam for preserving these entries for posterity! Entries for the very early days have been abducted but the ensuing days gives a good idea of how Professor Gerry McCann's warped mind works on an almost daily basis.
The blog is akin to and indeed a compliment to, Kate McCann's infamous bewk 'madeleine' - my version of the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Between the two of them, they have unwittingly (such is their innate conceit) left a trail of compelling evidence never to be erased that, if presented before a court of law as bona fide evidence, they would have been hanged drawn and quartered long ago.
So much meat to get yer teeth into - I see this as a blossoming thread for weeks, or even months, to come.

Re: Gerry McCann's Blog - Highlights
Just over three weeks after the alleged disappearance of Madeleine, curiously after returning from his lightening trip to the UK to collect a pillow case, a photograph and a government media monitoring guru, Gerry McCann has this to say..
Day 23: 26th May 2007
Yesterday was relatively quiet although we did meet the British ambassador and the senior British Police Officer who has been working here in Portugal on the case. This was a productive meeting. There was a flurry of activity amongst the media here stating the family was openly critical of the Portuguese policed which was not true. We did our best to dampen this down but a couple of papers carried stories with our ‘frustration’ with the investigation rather than what we said it was frustrating that 3 weeks down the line we still have not got Madeleine back. This would be the case which ever country we were in. Some of you may have noticed that Sean and Amelie did manage to squeeze in a hair cut!
Today was extremely busy and tiring. We met with our press officer Clarence Mitchell, to discuss strategy for the fortcoming interviews. Kate attended a luncheon in aid of International Missing Child day and John, my brother, attended a similar event in London. After this John and Brian Kennedy, Kate’s uncle, who are both directors of Madeleine’s fund appointed an interim fund manager. We are now actively looking for a campaign manager who will be needed once our government press officer disappears.
The interviews were our first for TV and we were happy how they went. We did 10 min interviews for Sky, BBC, ITV, Portuguese TV/radio and one for the press association. A shorter interview with GM TV will be shown on Monday morning along with stuff from our fabulous web team. The interviewers were very kind but did not shirk from asking us some extremely difficult questions. We answered them all and although painful will allow us to move on in our search for Madeleine.
Importantly, shortly after our interviews finished the Portuguese Police held a press conference and gave details of man they would like to interview who was seen carrying a child on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance. We have not had a transcript of what was said but this is an encouraging development and hopefully will result in further calls to the police with information from people who were in Praia da Luz around the time of Madeleine’s abduction. We remain very optimistic that the criminal investigation will lead to Madeleine’s safe return but we need everyone to be alert and vigilant to any suspicious activity.
Tomorrow will be a family day. We are doing a photo-shoot with the twins for the Sunday newspapers in the morning but will involve stuff that we want to do with them anyway. We also need to recharge our batteries after what has been a very busy week.

After pressure from the British government, the PJ released the information about Tannerman. Pressumably the meeting was productive because it produced confirmation of the result he had pushed for.

Re: Gerry McCann's Blog - Highlights
The British ambassador should not be poking his beak in a criminal investigation - it just ain't the done thing.
If ever there was an indication of a global government inspired cover-up of a serious crime, it's things like this that stand out above all else.
They really think we citizens are born of simple minds don't they?
Forget the small fry that got caught in the net - look at the big fish. That's where the answers lie and that's the true reason this case has never been satisfactorily resolved - nor will ever be if left to the puppeteers tugging at the Operation Grange ropes.
ETA: What about taking the twins for a photoshoot , I've never heard the like.

Day 100: Saturday 11th August 2007
Just another day but a significant milestone that we prayed we would never have to face without Madeleine. The prayer service here in Praia da Luz had a huge media presence, but in no way being intrusive, all aligned outside. The service itself was fantastically well attended with a huge turnout from the local community, which was very important to us.
The service was very comforting. There were contributions from Kate and myself, our family, the Anglican and Portuguese communities. Haynes, the Anglican minister, said a few poignant words about the events of this week, which were very touching. We said prayers for Madeleine and other children who are suffering. Everyone in the congregation lit candles, which were placed on the altar. The message from the service was that although 100 days have passed we have not given up hope of finding Madeleine.
In the afternoon we went to a local swimming pool and play area with the kids and their cousins. They had a great time swimming, playing with tennis balls and generally messing around. Needless to say they also managed an ice cream! It has been really good for the twins having other children here, especially since they have not been to the kids club for a few days.
We spoke to our family about the events in Glasgow and Liverpool. There was warm response at both venues and clearly many people are very happy to show support. Unfortunately we did not see any of the coverage on television. We did see highlights of the English premier league last night and note many of the clubs chose to wear Madeleine t-shirts and wristbands as well as playing the Don’t You Forget About Me video. There was also events at the rugby internationals and Ascot racecourse with 12 international jockeys wearing Madeleine t-shirts. The fact that so many people are prepared to show solidarity with us in our search for our daughter does help restore our faith in humanity.
There was a statement from the Portuguese police today regarding the recent activity in the investigation and media speculation. They confirmed that there are new leads and that we are not suspects in Madeleines disappearance.
Other tests are outstanding and Kate and I do hope that these take us forward in finding out who took Madeleine and where she is. Unfortunately we have to add patience to our other characteristics.

Don't you forget about me..
.. which one is me, can you guess?

Woof! Woof!
So much emphasis on the church and prayer !

Re: Gerry McCann's Blog - Highlights
Searching for something particular I came across this little gem - I couldn't resist giving it a little airing..
Day 93: Saturday 4th August 2007
Another early start to the day as I dropped the crew who did some filming for the website and other forthcoming events. Kate and I did a short interview reviewing the last 3 months and the search for Madeleine. We spent the rest of the day with the kids and Kate's family. We were all glad it clouded over in the afternoon to give us some respite from the intense heat.
The most recent searches by the police have attracted a lot of renewed media interest with satellite trucks arriving back in Praia da Luz. It is likely that some of the British Broadcasters will also come back out.
We werre all very tired and we managed to get off to bed at 10.30pm, which is very early for us by recent standards.
---------
The audacity of this man is unbelievable - who does he think he is, Steven Spielberg! How can any one person continue relentlessly to fly in the face of evidence and common knowledge - time and time again I see those words 'the search for Madeleine'. Cut to the chase McCann - you have never ever searched for Madeleine, not then not now not ever.
As I said up-thread, Gerry McCann's blog is the quintessential accompaniment to 'madeleine' by KATE MCCANN. Just like 'the search for Madeleine' the 'swooshing curtain' remains lodged in the mind of Kate McCann, despite the fact the window and shutter were closed!

Day 91: Thursday 2nd August 2007
Today was a bit of a write off for me as I was laid low with a probable viral illness which meant I could not stray too far from the house! I did manage to get through some e-mails, telephone calls and some paperwork. Feeling a bit better tonight so hopefully be back to normal tomorrow. Kate did manage to put up some of the new Madeleine posters in shops around Praia da Luz.. It is noticably busier, now that we are in August, with lots of tourists many of whom are from Portugal.
The figures from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children show that one in six kids are recovered after being recognised from a poster.
Such statistics do encourage us that relatively simple measures may be effective in helping us find Madeleine.
----------
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/EDDIE-KEELA.htm
Date: August 1st - 6am [sniipped]
So as to go further with this lead, of which certain results may reveal new evidence, we request authorisation to carry out further inspections, within the legal framework, in two distinct places:
1 - Rue des Fleurs no...The McCann family's current residence in Portugal.
2 - Rented vehicle Renault Scenic, registration ...DA - 27.
We suggest that this inspection is entrusted to the PJ and ask the Public Prosecutor for a 20 day mandate. Thus, we consider that there are indications that consolidate strong suspicions according to which, there are elements of evidence of a crime, inside the vehicle used by the McCann's and, moreover, likely to reveal important details of fundamental importance for the investigation.
Villa rue des Fleurs.
Report:
August 2nd 2007 -6.14pm - 27 Rue das Floras- Praia Da Luz - Lagos
Participants:
PJ: Ricardo P & J. Carlos P., inspectors.
UK: Mark Harrison, Martin Grime & Eddie.
On that date, within the context of a residential search, carried out at the McCann couple's current residence, an inspection by a dog handling team was made. Thus, at the time indicated at the beginning of the report, all areas of the property were inspected and the following results obtained:
6.36pm - The dog Eddie, who detects cadaver odours, "marked" the area of a cupboard in the living room. On checking, the dog was indicating a pink soft toy belonging to Madeleine McCann.
The clothes.
Date: August 2nd 2007 - 11.20pm
On that date, following the home visit made to the McCann's' current residence, on the Rue des Fleurs, various items of clothing were laid out in an appropriate place for this purpose, to carry out an inspection by the dog handling unit.
The collected items of clothing were set out individually with the agreement and under the directions provided by the British technicians, the dogs having previously covered the space where the clothing was laid out.
1 - 11.20pm: Prior reconnaissance of the place by the two canine units to guarantee that the space was clear of all odours being sought. The reconnaissance was completed at 11.30pm without anything being signalled by the dogs.
2 - 11.30pm: An initial inspection by the human blood detecting dog, began with the clothing packed in the box bearing the notation: "Living room." At 11.40pm, the inspection was completed without the dog showing anything abnormal.
11.41: The canine human remains recovery dog started its inspection and "marked" various clothes. The inspection was completed at 11.52pm. The clothes were returned to their box for later use.
From 12.02am until 1.30am, (03/08/07) all the other boxes, containing clothing from the twins' bedroom, from the friends' bedroom, from the bedroom of the couple labelled 1 & 2, as well as the empty luggage, was inspected by the two dogs without conclusive results.

I wonder why McCann didn't mention such a memorable occasion - tis no wonder he had a gelly belly! Surely they weren't trying to escape the inevitable when arranging that mysterious trip to Huelva on a public holiday?

Kate and I did our first interview for a French Publication today. Any interviews we do now, of which we only accept a small percentage of bids, focus on the issues that we have faced since Madeleine's abduction. The French have recently adopted a child alert system with some early success stories. With increasing travel and movement of workers in the European Union, it is also important we standardise the way serious crimes are tackled.

Day 445: Monday 21st July 2008
NEW SITE SCREENSHOT
Today we learned that our arguido status and that of the other arguido, Robert Murat, has been lifted. The case will be filed unless other important new evidence is uncovered. Kate delivered the statement below to the media earlier this evening. Our search for Madeleine, which has never ceased, continues.
'We welcome the announcement from the Portuguese Attorney General today, although it is no cause for celebration. It is hard to describe how utterly despairing it was to be named 'arguidos' and subsequently portrayed in the media as suspects in our own daughter's abduction- and worse. It has been equally devastating to witness the detrimental effect this status has had on the search for Madeleine.
We look forward to scrutinising the police files to see what has ACTUALLY been done and, more importantly, what can still be done, as we leave no stone unturned in the search for Madeleine. We would once again urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and call our helpline on +44 845 838 4699 or send information to investigation@findmadeleine.com
Finally we would like to thank everyone who has supported us and stayed with us during this particularly difficult period. We assure you we will NEVER give up on Madeleine."

Gerry McCann's blog: Day 100 - 11th August 2007
Just another day but a significant milestone that we
prayed we would never have to face without Madeleine.

Gerry McCann's blog: Day 52 - 24th June 2007
We attended the local church service this morning as usual. After mass we bumped into an old colleague of my brothers who aslo happens to be from Liverpool and had a good chat with her.
There are very little media left in Praia da Luz although there was still one cameraman and photgrapher outside the church. Our requsets to respect our privacy have been folowed, with one or two minor exceptions during the last 52 days. Most of the campaigning will be done behind closed doors from now on and it is essential that Amelie and Sean are allowed to grow up without continually being photographed.
We picked the twins up early from the kids club and had a really nice afternoon with them, playing with some new toys and then down at the pool.
If Madeleine is not found in the next couple of weks we need to move out of the
appartment we have been staying in as the family is coming out for a holiday. I have to say the owners have been extremely understanding, as they came to Praia da Luz for a holiday and relocated to another apartment to save us moving again.
This degree of flexibility does not exist in the resort in high season. We have managed to look at a few properties to rent in the last couple of days and I think we have found somewhere suitable to live until we return back to the UK with Madeleine.

Quote from Kates' novel
"Sean and Amelie were enrolled in the Toddler Club for two-year-olds in a building adjacent to a bar and the open-air Tapas restaurant, just across from our apartment on the other side of the main pool. The nanny who was to take care of them there seemed very pleasant and capable. Amelie, true to form, was completely unfazed; sensitive Sean, when it came to it, was initially a bit upset, all of which was situation normal with the twins. The staff had our telephone numbers and we left details of our whereabouts, as we would do for the rest of the week, in case there were any problems or in the unlikely event that Sean failed to settle."

It was here on Hobs' blog..
In this case, the mccanns had used the twins as photo opportunities to portray their innocence and new found parenting skills, especially after being told the twins were no longer welcomed at the creche and now the mccanns had to rely on friends and relatives to babysit whilst they went swanning off around the world.

HI Verdi

The parents of Madeleine McCann have been forced to stop taking their two-year-old twins to a local creche to avoid 'upsetting' other holidaymakers, they revealed today.
The anguished parents of missing Madeleine were dealt this latest blow after it was revealed that locals call them "those bloody McCanns."
Matters reached crisis point when Madeleine's mother Kate could not get out of the Mark Warner Ocean Club with twins Sean and Amelie, because of a media scrum.
The crush at the doors to the creche led to the British holiday company asking the McCanns to stay away.
The couple have now withdrawn their children from the childcare facility.
Kate said helplessly: "We are trapped. What can we do?"
The couple are clearly hurt that their children have been effectively barred from the creche, but they, as always, have tried to be pragmatic.
Gerry, 39, said: "It has impacted on other holidaymakers."
"It is not considerate to other people's children and people were getting upset.
"They have paid a lot of money to come to a lovely resort with their children."
He went on: "Mark Warner has been incredibly supportive of us throughout but they have come under a bit of pressure and we agreed not to go for a while.
"They offered us alternative arrangements, but we haven't taken them up yet."
The McCanns have been trying desperately hard to maintain a normal routine for their twins - and taking them to the creche each day was part of this.
The villa where the couple are staying with the twins, on the outskirts of the holiday resort of Praia da Luz, is now home to an encampment of Portugese photographers and TV crews.
Because of the "huge gaggle" of media outside the family's new accommodation there were concerns about photographers and film crews taking pictures of the twins and disturbing holidaymakers at the creche.
A spokesman for Mark Warner said: "The actual decision was made by the local manager and the McCanns that it would be best for both sides if they didn't use the creche until this intense focus moves away from them."
The 100th day since little Madeleine disappeared will be marked in Britain tomorrow by events, prayers and pledges of support for the Madeleine campaign from sportsmen, including Jonny Wilkinson, Frankie Dettori and Everton Football Club.
But in Praia da Luz, the McCanns will spend the day "quietly", only emerging to attend a special church service in the resort.
Madeleine disappeared on May 3 after Mr and Mrs McCann left their three children asleep in their apartment while they ate with friends at a nearby tapas restaurant.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-474420/Madeleines-parents-forced-twins-creche-avoid-upsetting-holidaymakers.html
With all the relatives and friends traipsing over to PDL to allegedly help with the search for Maddie, why did the mccanns continue to use the creche daily for what was essentially babysitting?
We know the mccanns did not search, even on the first night as per kate's admission.
We know the mccanns and tapas 7 never physically searched, with the tapas 7 making a run for it with a shortish period of time.
We know neither the relatives nor the friends physically searched for Maddie, instead their free vacation, i mean time was spent lolling around the pool, having a family birthday party for the guest of honor, Maddie who was, it seemed temporarily (according the the mccanns) and permanently according to the rest of unable to appear in person.
With all these friends and relatives piling in, no one seems to have done anything of use to the search.
We saw police, emergency workers, volunteer locals and ex pats and even holiday makers all out in the sun and heat looking for a missing little girl whilst the relatives and friends lolled around getting a tan, free food and drink and admiring kate and gerry on the times on their runs, 19 mins to get to the top of the hill.
Even their statement about the creche was patronizing. the mccanns gracefull aagreeing to remove the twins from the creche so as not to disturb other guests.
what i suspect really happened was the management demanding something be done to get the parents away from the club because of the bad publicity plus the fact that they were not searching, they had friends and relatives getting free vacations and the abduction story was blatantly untrue.
The mccanns were as popular as ebola in a holiday camp.
The mccanns however would be pissed because it meant they or one of their group were now stuck having to babysit the twins meaning that someone at some point was going to have to give up a couple of hours tennis, jogging or lounging round the pool and instead had to care for twin toddlers, this was b not helped that whoever was looking after the twins would be under the media spotlight so they had to show responsible parenting which for a couple of them at least was a first.

I had another early morning drive to the airport- I could almost do it with my eyes shut. After dropping the kids off we had some photos taken with the results of a survey of UK and European parliament MP’s. The survey results, commissioned by the find Madeleine campaign, will be published tomorrow and demonstrate strong support for changes in European legislation following Madeleine’s abduction.
Kate is keen to get in touch with a very nice mum, who she spoke with at the toddler pool in the Ocean Club on Sunday 3rd June. She is sure you will remember the conversation and Kate would be grateful if you could get in touch at with her at campaign@findmadeleine.com

Gerald McCann just adores a photoshoot doesn't he?
Coincidentally (or not as the case may be) this was written around the time the tide was turning against the McCanns. By this time of course it was well and truly established, sorry proven, that Madeleine was not abducted. Flying in the face of adversity springs to mind.

Odd thing about that little statement is Gerry McCann's assumption that people, in this particular case the 'very nice mum', might be reading his blog.
Short of family, friends and colleagues old and new, I doubt anyone had ever heard of Gerry McCann, let alone be reading his blog. Did non-entities like Gerry McCann blog in those days or did he set it up for a specific purpose?
Just a thought .
