Sounds like finding Madeleine to me but that doesn't detract from the very uncomfortable situation they found themselves in.

Gerald was very anxious to ignore the awkward questions posed by Sandra Felgueiras and the other rather vocal journalist. I've no sympathy, put yourself before a hungry pack of journalists - what do you expect?

Speaks volumes in my view.

In her statement to the police, Mrs. Fenn said that when she went up to the balcony to see what was going on after the alarm was raised, Gerry told her this:

"A child is missing."

Pamela Fenn was not formally interviewed by the PJ as a witness until 20th August 2007, well over three months after the event.

If in residence at the time of Madeleine McCann's alleged disappearance, which she claims to have been, she would have been questioned during the routine house to house calls conducted by the PJ. Had she given any information that would be consider of importance, she would have been formally interviewed in the immediate days following the alleged disappearance. This did not happen so the only obvious conclusion is that she had nothing of value to impart.

Why then, over three months later, did she spring forth with such important information, including the alleged sighting of a possible person of interest seen by her niece, Carole Tranmer.

I 100% agree with your comment.

Although, I have my doubts about whether she lied about Gerry's comment. It's just too much of a specific detail, which reminds me of Peter Hyatt's analysis of the McCanns' interviews, where he points out the distancing language used by them many times while talking about their daughter.

"A child is missing" is a textbook example of distancing language in a parent who has guilty knowledge of what happened to his/her "missing" child.

If Mrs. Fenn was being untruthful when she said this in her statement to the police, it begs the question: why?

If Gerry truly said this, then it's a big deal, as it might indicate that from early on, he was already distancing himself from the victim (Madeleine).
