It's not exactly heroic anyway is it maebee. It's what some people do to help them through a tragedy - like the loss of a loved one through illness, people donate, raise money or do voluntary work for a cause relative to the illness. It's all part of the human coping mechanism - only it's normally for altruistic reasons not for self glory.

6) The same human cadaver odour was detected in the McCann’s hired Renault Scenic over 3 weeks after their missing child was reported missing.
7) Blood and DNA traces were recovered from several matching locations of the human cadaver odour within apartment 5a and the McCann’s hire car which were confirmed as matching the same DNA profile of their missing child!
8) Kate McCann/Healy did not search for her daughter.
9) Kate McCann/Healy refused to participate in a reconstruction.
10) Kate McCann/Healy refused to answer 48 Police questions and was not bothered if this behaviour made the Police suspicious of her.
11) Kate McCann is still seen on video stating clearly “the shutters were jemmied open, I’m not lying about that”. It is physically and forensically proved that the shutters were not tampered with at all. Another lie!
12) The only full fingerprint found anywhere on the windows were of Kate McCann/Healy, and on the inside of the window. Yet more evidence of a blatantly obvious staged abduction.
13) The same Kate McCann/Healy who complained that a Police car was “going to fast” while taking her to a possible sighting of her missing child.
14) The same Kate McCann/Healy who has in tandem with other members of the “tapas” party had several Police statement contradictions and anomalies.
15) The same Kate McCann/Healy who wrote a book which offers an altogether different set of circumstances and scenarios.
16) The Same Kate McCann/Healy who decided to wash her daughters favourite soft toy after she was reported missing. This toy later went on to have confirmed human cadaver odour on. Who or what was the source – Madeleine’s corpse or direct from Kate McCann/Healy – Your ambassador!
17) There is much more available for the worldwide population to see, read and view such as the Official Portuguese Police files which were released in August 2008. Coincidentally of which your ambassador spent circa £100,000 of the British public’s money translating them into English but not releasing them. Instead they have gagged the media with money and influence from the British Establishment from printing awareness of these files. What is it your supposedly innocent ambassador wants to hide from everyone?

So with everything above and the vast quantities of other information available online which correlates with the conclusion that Madeleine McCann died very early on during their holiday, the parents are directly implicated and involved in the subsequent disposal and cover up of her corpse and have made an absolute fortune with the aid of British public donations into a private LTD company which has never made any attempt to look for Madeleine but instead employed known fraudsters and money launderers, is this the kind of person that should be a “figurehead” of a missing children’s charity?

If so you have a very strange set of criteria for such positions.
1) Who “gave” her this position?
2) Why did you install her into this position?
3) How can you justify publicising Kate McCann receiving another award for God knows what next to an actual heroic mother in Coral Jones, whose daughter tragically really was abducted and murdered is beyond belief.
4) Given your very strange criteria for an ambassadors role will you be posthumously be granting an ambassadors role for the likes of Jimmy Saville etc??
5) As per the dictionary definition above, what exactly is Kate McCann here to promote for your charity? How to get away with child neglect?, How to get away with being involved in your child’s disappearance? How to make millions from your missing child? What do I think?
I don't think Postcode Lottery should be sponsoring Missing People.
I don't think Coral should have got tangled up with the McCann case.
I think it was a big mistake for Missing People to give the job of Ambassador to KM.
Firstly Gerry got a police award and now Kate gets an award....This denigrates the whole awards system to heroes in the UK.
Fortunately with Forums such as CMOM and documentaries from Richard D. Hall and HiDeHo more readers are seeing what a huge cover-up the McCann case has been.
I, and many others, saw that the McCanns were lying on DAY 1.

The only award the McCanns deserve is one for being the worst parents ever. It is absolutely infact gut wrenchingly sick to have given Kate McCann an award. I mean really it is unfathomable that millions have been spent to try to find Maddie, yet not one proper clue. I do believe she will never be found. And that no matter which way it is spun, even if they (Kate and Gerry) did not kill or injure Maddie. It is and always will be there fault she is gone. They are both to blame and that is a fact, that I am sure not many can deny.
Let's just hope they don't go out for something to eat or drink to celebrate this sham of an award. Surely they use a babysitter now they are in England so the social services do not remove there other children. Or perhaps they are now to high profile for such things to happen to them.

It was quoted that the first Child Rescue Alert was issued by UK Police in the case of April Jones.

This is somewhat misleading as it wasn't the 'enhanced' Child Rescue Alert that people are being asked to sign up to right now.

What assisted the case of April Jones was the UK police making the decision to take the disappearance of April to the UK mainstream media who assisted in spreading the word via social media.

There wasn't a postman in the land that could've helped April Jones, there wasn't a person who didn't know who April Jones was, what she looked like, where she went missing from, where she lived etc and to that end I don't understand why Coral Jones is so captivated and dedicated to a new fangled, all singing, all dancing internet dream of saving an abducted child's life given that not only are the majority of abducted children taken by people who know them but more importantly that the police and media did a fantastic job.

The launch of the very first (and to date the only) 'enhanced' Child Rescue Alert was for a teenage girl who turned up within hours. This leads me to believe it was a promotion exercise and as a PR exercise it worked well. This doesn't surprise me as there are chief police officers working hand in hand with the 'charity' that is called Missing People.

I wish someone in the media would take a long, hard look at this 'charity'.

Within days of Madeleine's disappearance there was a media campaign and a big coloboma poster - against the wishes of the Portuguese Police.

There was also the launch of digital media boards launched by Kate McCann in Birmingham where the young girl who had left home previously was miraculously found on the same day by....the police. This 'launch' was heavily promoted in national and regional press.

Obviously Wynard is only interested in Kate McCann, poor Coral Jones has been dragged in so it doesn't look so obvious imo.

Wynard, like Branson, donated £100K to the McCanns, not towards the search for Madeleine but to clear their names. Surely, finding her alive would help to clear their names?

No mention of Missing Madeleine on their websites either - are they not interested in searching for her? Are they only interested in the parents? There must be a reason for this, what is it?

I can understand, in the early days, if the tycoons wanted to make a donation but now that the PJ files have been released and there are so many contradictions in the statements of the McCanns' and their friends, why would these business men put their own reputations on the line and put their businesses at risk just to satify the McCanns. There has to be a reason for this, but what? thinking

I wonder if Gerald McCann and\or his associates were members of the Spa Club at Stobo castle, and if so, did they take advantage of the 10% discount?

I doubt both women "were stunned" cos I bet Kate knew all about it. Poor Coral used for an agenda, but why now, what's afoot? How many other awards has Stephen winyard given out and to whom? Kate didn't look very happy in some of the pictures and she said last week some of the Implicated will be implicated. I wonder did Gerry have a word with his mate Stephen to ask him to try and stop the loose cannon that is Kate? Give her an award to stop her from further implicating the implicated and invite Coral to make it look genuine.

Since Lady Kate has been given an award for the child alert programme for selflessly campaigning for missing children I decided to do some research. The total number of incidents reported of people missing each year is 330,000. However that is incidents not actual people as those figures include people who run away several times.

The real figure of actual people is 192,000. This includes all age ranges people under 18 make up 64% of those figures, so therefore 115,000 are under 18. More than a third of those are aged 15-17, 35% are 12-15, the remainder are under 12.

Although 192,000 people going missing each year, 91% are found within 48 hours, 98% before 12 months, or the case solved, so only 2% are missing for longer or never found.

Now many of the people in these figures have made themselves missing by wanting to run away or by wandering off through illness. They have not actually been abducted.

The numbers of children who have been abducted or attempted abduction are relatively low at 900. Bear in mind this does include attempted abductions by people trying to grab someone at school or in the park etc but not managing it. Also a large part of those figures are family abductions, usually a parental split or family dispute.

The actual numbers for stranger abductions are incredibly low, an average of 50 a year. Of those the majority are aged 11-14, the next are 9-12, under 5 are less than one a year and 5-9 are just 2 a year.

The majority of those are girls rather than boys, but all of the figures for the older one's are for sexual exploitation in some form or another. These are the 9-15 age range. They are either groomed on the internet or dragged away by someone at the school gate or playground. NO history of any being abducted by a stranger from inside the home.

So there you have it, very rare for a child under 4 to be abducted by a stranger and no incidence of such an age range to be taken for sexual purposes.

The figures in Portugal of missing children are incredibly high. In the five years before Madeleine went missing there were 10, apart from her, 2 have not been found. A boy of 11 whose Mum still thinks he is alive, he disappeared while playing on the grass at the side of the house, and a 13 yr old whose Mum insists she has seen pics of him being abused.

Since Madeleine went missing, the numbers of missing children in Portugal has soared to the dizzy heights of 30, so that's 4-5 a year. Now those figures are incredibly low.

If you look at the odds of a child of Madeleines age being abducted by a stranger from her home in England, are 100 million to one. That's out of figures of 192,000 children missing each year. If you try to faction in 2 children a year going missing in Portugal,what would the odds be for Madeleine to be abducted, it must be billions to one. Add to that there has never been a case of a child of that age being abducted by a paedophile in this country with the high figures we have. What are the chances of her being taken by a paedophile from inside a building when adults were doing half hourly checks on her. It isn't possible is it.

The McCann's didn't do their homework very well did they when they cried abduction.

What about urging the two police investigations to make progress, by answering the 48 questions she refused initially, and by establishing a legal reconstruction? That way, we'd know for certain how much she wants Madeleine found, wouldn't we?

I have no idea what happened to Madeleine McCann but by her parents own admission they left her and her siblings alone every night in an apartment which was not part of the holiday complex while they dined in the Tapas Bar. Given this information, straight from "the horses.mouth" I have to question Kate McCann being the face of this campaign. As such, although I think the text alert system may be a useful tool, I won't be signing up. Makes me question the whole Missing Peopke charity to be honest

Some of the comments on this article make me mad it must be great to be so perfect,we stayed in a well known hotel where the sitter sat at the end of the corridor and only walked along every so often they did not see us go in the room we could have been anyone, so don't condemn the parents they are going through hell already,

Are they going through hell? Did A group of Medics actually leave their Babies (one who was poorly) every night even although Madeleine asked them where they were when she and her Brother were crying. Did the same Medics play musical chairs, 4 different Families checking their own Babies every night every half an hour apart from the night Madeleine went missing even although the official Police statements say one Adult was missing from their night time antics most nights. Some relaxing evening meal they must have been. up to 3 people missing at a time. Down the corridor is a bit different to being over a football pitch distance away with an unlocked door, stairs, a balcony, bushes and swimming pool between them.

So, they do not consider that a stranger 'abducting' their daughter, and taking her away from her family for almost 9 years is harmful then??

In any case, the truth is that there is NO EVIDENCE of an abduction.

The Mcann's say that the abductor escaped through the bedroom window, and yet there is no evidence to prove this (lichen undisturbed by window and no fingerprints at all on the window, except KATE'S)

The Mcann's initially stated the shutters had been 'jemmied', when this was completely untrue, and they then changed their story to say the patio doors were unlocked.

If that's not enough to convince you. What kind of parent washes her missing child's favourite toy??

The more and more and more I see if the McCanns the more I get angry and frustrated I am not going to go into the whole story we all know that if they would of been acting like responsible parents that poor child would still be in their care and as doctors they know better than anyone that it only takes seconds for a child to choke injur themselves in a fall etc etc and yet they were minutes away, since this happened they have thrived on the publicity they get and not once aknowledging they were in the wrong, you wonder if it this was a working class family that acted like they did whether they would have lost custody of their twins??
