Kate and Gerry McCann receive death threats

Reports on Thursday have revealed that campaigners are urging police and MPs to crack down on internet abuse directed at the family of missing Madeleine McCann.
The Metropolitan Police is reportedly investigating a catalogue of vile internet abuse targeting the family of Madeleine McCann including death threats. An exclusive report by Sky News says officers are in talks with the Crown Prosecution Service after being handed a dossier of more than 80 pages of Tweets, Facebook posts and messages on online forums aimed at Kate and Gerry McCann.
Sky News further revealed that the Metropolitan Police is investigating a catalogue of internet abuse targeting the family of Madeleine McCann including death threats.
A series of messages have been posted in recent years pointing to the involvement of the parents despite both Portuguese and British police saying they are not suspects.
Some of the messages posted by so-called internet trolls include suggestions that the McCanns should be tortured and killed and calls for them to “burn in hell”.
Some messages are even directed at Madeleine’s younger siblings, now aged nine, Sky News said.
In Portugal, sources close to the case said this week that detectives from Scotland Yard should arrive in Portugal in the coming week or so for another routine meeting with their Portuguese counterparts in Faro.
This meeting will then be followed by further inquiries in Portugal after a request was sent to Portugal at the end of August for further questioning of suspects in the Algarve.
It is understood the officers have been granted permission to interview up to seven key suspects identified earlier this year – three of whom are expected to be questioned for a second time.
This is the fifth such letter to be received by Portuguese authorities since last October.
Last month, British detectives admitted upon their return to the UK that “no evidence relating to Madeleine McCann had been identified.”
Sources close to the case had earlier told The Portugal News: “Unfortunately we are nowhere nearer to solving the case than we were seven years ago” even though it appears the investigation is far from over.

Same crap as UK media. From the Daily Mail:
Who are these '@********' people?
"Legal reasons"...
That don't apply to Sweepyface.
You won't find posts like that on this forum.
Or from Sweepyface.

Good spot.
So the Trolls and fake bomb detectors stories have been on the Sky news site for 3 days now I think (despite
other truly shocking news stories IMO more deserving of space).
That can't be a coincidence. Funny how it always cranks up a notch every time before official investigation or trial developments.
I think it's exactly as someone on the Troll thread stated. Don't look over here, look over there.

Haven't TM always said that OG kept them informed, maybe this is what the fuss over the last month as been about, with it looking like its not going to be resolved they (McCanns) have got their we are the innocent victims in this out there already.
Although something else springs to mind if OG have in mind 7 persons they want to interview might just one of these have something to cause the McCanns to have a nervous twitch or two.
Something has caused a stir.
All opinion of course.

Re: THE LAST 'HURRAH'?
If there is any sense at all at the Met, they will start by asking the questions:
What is the reason for this campaign?
Why are so many people involved?
Why are so many people opposing the McCanns?
What is being said and why?
Why don't the public accept the McCanns version of events?
The must also realise that their own credibility has been reduced.
Surely, this alone would be a red flag for them, yet they still use our taxes to investigate an abduction that they cannot solve.
If only the MET listened to those who were contributing towards the huge cost of the investigation instead of accusing us and forwarding personal details onto the likes of a self contradicting news reporter called Brunt (if that's what they did).

I am less optimistic I feel they will use the McCann's distress
to wrap this up and support them in 'accepting' she isn't going to return

Re: THE LAST 'HURRAH'?
New Madeleine McCann prosecutor has vowed to solve the case - bringing fresh hope to her parents
Oct 10, 2014 22:30
By David Collins
A new prosecutor has been put in charge of the Madeleine McCann case – and has vowed to solve it.
High-flying investigator Ines Sequeira said she was “utterly determined” to crack the case, bringing fresh hope to Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry.
British detectives believe the appointment will shake up the probe and Scotland Yard officers will fly out next week to discuss a shortlist of seven prime suspects with their Portuguese counterparts.
A source close to the inquiry said: “Ms Sequeira is one of the sharpest and most ambitious prosecutors in Portugal. She is utterly determined to get a result on the Madeleine inquiry.
“British police are telling the McCanns they’re doing everything in their power to find out what happened.”

New hope: Kate McCann and her husband Gerry McCann
It is understood the investigation into Alice Gross, a 14-year-old schoolgirl found dead in west London, held up Operation Grange as resources were diverted during a huge search effort last week.
British police will arrive in Portugal next week to discuss plans to interrogate the seven shortlisted suspects and request permission to search their homes.
British detectives are trying to get a fifth letter of international request approved by the Portuguese authorities, which would allow them to continue their work on the ground in Portugal.
The Met’s Operation Grange team, set up to review the case, believe Madeleine may have been killed during a bungled break-in at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz in May, 2007 while her parents were eating out nearby.
They will interview three of the seven suspects for a second time and request permission to search their homes.
The three suspects to be re-interviewed are understood to be Jose Carlos Fernandes da Silva, an ex-worker at the Ocean Club resort, Paulo Ribeiro, who looks like a man seen near the apartment, and charity collector Ricardo Rodrigues.

Missing: Madeleine McCann
Portugal’s Attorney General gave the go-ahead for the country’s own Madeleine McCann investigation to be reopened in May at the request of the country’s Policia Judiciaria police force - more than five years after the probe had been shelved.
The reopening of the investigation coincided with news a former employee at the Ocean Club holiday resort where Madeleine disappeared had been identified as a suspect.
Recovering heroin addict Euclides Monteiro, a convicted burglar, died in a tractor accident in 2009.
His widow Luisa Rodrigues was interviewed by Portuguese detectives but insisted he was an innocent man and has been fighting to get authorities to confirm they have now ruled him out as a suspect.
Madeleine’s parents have been buoyed up by the joint efforts of the two country’s police forces.
They believe Madeleine, who would now be aged 11, could still be alive.
McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry will not comment on Operation Grange."

Re: THE LAST 'HURRAH'?
Well, of course, the Met want , 'access' to er, 'search' um, 'suspects' homes.
They are not going to 'find' er 'evidence' lying about outside, in the street, are they?
I'm 'punting' on them er, finding a blue sports bag, with a toothbrush, within, 'very, very, similar DNA, (twins?) or 'a few blonde hairs' or some 'very similar pyjamas' that the 'suspect/s' had er, 'kept' for over 7 YEARS. On a 'par' with OG's 'elite maddie cops' finding Crecheman, who had, ALSO had kept his kid's 'pyjamas' for over 7 years.
I'm 'expecting' OG will have 'seconded' a few botanists and horticulturists 'experts', from the Met's dept 'Q' to assist OG officers in the 'searches' of 'suspects' homes.
Damn! If only a gun had been 'used' in Madeleine's 'disappearance'
Then, with OG's 'expertise', i'm certain they could/will find 'a speck of gun powder residue' in one of their Portuguese 'suspects' homes, or on a 'suspects' clothes.
All imo, obviously.

In separate quotes in the Sunday Mirror, Mr George says: ‘The police made it up. They’re responsible for the gunpowder. I’ve got pictures of police going into my flat with guns – that’s how it got there.
Around the table will be Assistant Commissioner John Yates, head of the Yard’s Specialist Crime Directorate, Commander Simon Foy, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, and Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell, who led the original murder inquiry.

Does anybody know if this is indeed a 'new' new prosecutor, as appointed in October 2014, or an 'old' new prosecutor from a year ago, revamped into the Mirror story in their usual style to create a non-story prior to another Redwood sun-fest & pizza run?

Mail on line has answered!
Her appointment comes after the public prosecutor's position was left empty for almost a month following the departure of Jose Magalhes e Menezes

Not exactly 'hands on' though:
'Ines is still trying to get her feet under the table and is having to be briefed on scores of cases including Madeleine’s,' a source close to the investigation said.

Madeleine's disappearance process is attributed to a new prosecutor
11 OCTOBER 2014 | POSTED BY JOANA MORAIS
Seven years later, the process of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann changed prosecutor's hands. With the new judicial chart, Magalhães e Menezes was transferred to the Labour Court of Portimão and was replaced by Mrs Inês Sequeira, who worked at the Public Ministry of Silves.
The new prosecutor, in office since early September, will have to address the fifth letter rogatory sent by the British authorities requesting further steps to be taken within the scope of the [English] investigation to the Maddie case.
Even without having received a reply to the letter rogatory, the Scotland Yard [sic, Metropolitan Police] inspectors are expected in Faro next week.
The meeting will serve, in essence, to assess the current status of the investigation with the Judiciary Police, and takes place three months after three men, at the request of the UK, were constituted as arguidos [formal suspects] and several people were interviewed as witnesses.
in Sic Notícias, October 11, 2014 18:26 GMT
Regarding the behaviour of the UK media related to this news
. In Portugal the Oporto PJ coordinated by Monteiro is just conducting a review of the process, so a new prosecutor means nothing, unless the PJ is able to conduct an investigation without hindrance and/or further external pressures.
. This is an attempt to pressure the new Prosecutor a few days before Redwood's team returns to Portugal, ie, now that the prosecutor's name is in under the spotlight she "has to approve" all steps requested by the English rogatory letter, no matter how risible or unevidenced they may be.
. The prosecutor would never talk to/with the press without PGR/Public Ministry consent.
. Someone's leaking to Mirror, where else would they have found Inês Sequeira's name?
. Spin was added to the articles, citing the prosecutor. If the allegations are true then something must be done about it (breach of secrecy of justice).
. When will the PGR (AGO) Dr. Joana Marques Vidal put an end to the ignominious British pressure and numerous interferences?

It is being reported that the Met will once again be heading to Portugal some time soon. Reported also that there is a new Prosecutor on the Portuguese side.
