Re: FOR NEW MEMBERS Smiths` Descriptions of Man Carrying Child + Mr Amaral's description in book
I have to go to work now so don't have time to look for the statement I want to post.
It could have been Mathew Oldfield I 'm not sure. MO did a check at 9.30( I think) on returning he says that GM got up to do a check, MO told GM that he had listening by the wall(?)of 5a and all was quiet, however GM still went off to check leaving MO feeling a bit disappointed that GM didn't trust him, or something along those lines.
I can't be sure but I seem to remember that MO said GM was away front he table for 30 minutes, could have been someone else.
This would mean that GM was away from the table during the Smith sighting. I would imagine GM is very fit, what with all the sport he plays, it is reasonable to assume that he would find it easy to sprint all the way back to the OC.
I would imagine that GM had help, perhaps he was taking M to an empty property courtesy of that person, perhaps M had overdosed on sleeping pills and finally died in this property.
Just my opinion.

Merged with this one Searcher.Searcher wrote:[Admin pse merge - I can't find the thread with PeterMac and TB's posts this morning.] Just wanted to add a thought or two. PM/TB were discussing how unlikely it could be for someone to carry child through streets; a car or other means would be found.
That is very sensible, but I put myself in the shoes of that person. I am in a very quiet resort, out of season, there is hardly anyone about, it is late, dark. There is no media frenzy, nothing to answer; it may look surprisingly "safe" to be on the streets. Just my thought but - while in the current context it seems entirely strange - in circumstances at the time it could have felt a reasonable option. And if there was no car available, perhaps the only option.

The McCanns have always known about the Smith sighting, why didn't they publicise it? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

so opportunistic then because a planned abduction would have a vehicle for speedy exit whatever the circumstances ?candyfloss wrote:Merged with this one Searcher.Searcher wrote:[Admin pse merge - I can't find the thread with PeterMac and TB's posts this morning.] Just wanted to add a thought or two. AR has made no ref to the opportunistic theory as such afaik... what would have alerted a stranger that there was a child to be snatched?
long unattended crying perhaps but that was not on 3rd.

Martin Smith Speaks...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Have been browsing this forum a lot over the past few days and wanted to share this article from the mirror.
They seem to have gotten hold of Martin Smith and he hasn't mentioned Gerry at all. Just wondering what everyone else thinks?
Oh and hi, I'm a newly converted semi-sceptic after the Crimewatch p*** take :)

That was my thought too Tiny, though I also have a sneaking suspicion that he just doesn't want to involve himself in the media circus. Perhaps he's told SY and that's good enough for him?

I think your right about the media circus, perhaps he didnt want to go into great detail again as he has said his piece in his statement and I think that would do for him because as you know saying any thing against the mccanns and you get torn to bits by some of these so called journo,sStevienix wrote:That was my thought too Tiny, though I also have a sneaking suspicion that he just doesn't want to involve himself in the media circus.
