What the hell is going on in this country? Does this qualify as Minister with Portfolio these days?

Yes..... he looks too high up in the picture as if he`s standing on some steps but there are no steps in that position, see :-

It looks as if he posed in front of a backcloth of the White House; while I'd like to think some enterprising photographer may have a thriving business in providing 'photos of my trip to (insert place/country of choice)' for those who haven't gone anywhere, the reality is we can all create albums of ourselves visiting exotic around the globe places while never leaving our hometown.
While it amuses me to visualise a snap of the wee one swimmng withhis own kind sharks off the Great Barrier Reef, I find it more entertaining to revisit Gerry's first trip to the US of A where he got to meet the First Lady's dog and the Feds... and the Feds got to meet him, which may be the reason why he wasn't invited back.

What a shame, when I first joined this forum it wasn't a chat room and didn't rely on emoticons, strike through typing and general disruption with the business in hand.Clay Regazzoni wrote:ultimaThule wrote:Aw, poor tiny tears... didn't get tosmellsee the body farm? Give me a break Aquila, I've made dozens of posts over the last couple of days and the overwhelming majority of them were exceedingly pertinent to the matter in hand.

A cursory glance at the real White House and its proportions.
The only lamp standards with two globes are along the one road separating the WH gardens and the public gardens. The people in the picture appear to be 1/4 of the height of the lamp standards (so about 24 feet high).
Gerry is standing by the fencing surrounding a little green patch, with the curve of the footpath to his left side and in between two lamps. He is probably about 9 meters from the lamp.
We know he's mightier than most, but this makes him almost as tall as half way up the lamp post.
The website picture is somewhat of an arial view. The lower the camera take, the higher will be the building in the background but our Gezza is actually 'taller' than the white house.
Amazing....

I'm gobsmacked at your post and I have no words for the contempt you've shown for this forum.
ETA. when you say 'for the amusement of its members' remember that this forum is about the tragic life of a three year old child. I find your comment contemptible.

You may find my comments as you wish, aquila, but, as those who work in A&E departments, those who work in child protection, and those who are engaged in investigating heinous crimes against adults as well as children will affirm, when contemplating the full extent of the ways in which some behave towards others it is frighteningly easy to become overwhelmed by dark thoughts which linger 'out of hours'.
In such professions, what may seem to outsiders as inappropriate humour is commonplace and can act as a reminder that, no matter how unrelenting the horror, how enormous the challenge, and how unrewarding the task, the majority of the people on this planet treat their fellow beings with kindness and consideration.

Those pictures are ridiculous! It must be very embarrassing for her to know they are available for all to see, much like her place as a director of the fund.

Just like some have to put up with emoticons and strike through typing, others have to put up with snide remarks and downright rudeness - which is a shame. But it takes all sorts to make a forum and it`s therefore impossible to function according to one person`s wishes. Personally I`d rather see emoticons than bad manners.

Well said woofer.
Aquila I have read some interesting posts by yourself since joining but I have never before seen anyone on here be so cutting towards another poster.
You come across as if you have a mighty big chip on your shoulder and for someone that has a thing about disruptors on here you have a tendency to do it yourself.

We don`t know why she left the Board do we. But she did pronounce that the McCanns wouldn`t be using the fund for legal costs at the end of 2007 - it seemed she was dead against it - perhaps that`s why she left - because that changed.

@ Bobbin - re that photo, I'd never seen the handsome, cultivated saviour of the western world in such an appropriate shot.
Those were the days, even if he didn't get to see Laura Bush.
Re Ms Vey, she's not the only one who's been taken under the wing of the government, The pink one is being made respectable too, whether he wins the seat or not. Any others in need of such treatment?
jT, although not in line for a lucrative appointment, has been given a way to be right about what she saw whilst her evidence can be struck off the list.
Are those in danger of suffering collateral damage being taken out of harms way? Or indeed, as it may be better understood by those struggling to maintain a foreign accent: out of harms vey?

Tigger, I saw something similar in the economic crisis. For all it was supposed to be an unexpected event, those in the know actually had a kind of grace period in which to unwind their positions. I said elsewhere that CM seems particularly keen to ally himself to the Tories - does he know that things are about to go very, very bad for the red team (and I don't mean Manchester United)?
Here's a question - somebody like Tony Bennett might be best informed. Is it possible to get hold of an MP's historical diary?

Well, that was my point, also with the year 2006 topic. The financial world was about to implode, plenty of people in the know at the time imo.
CM's political career and indeed career full stop is very sparingly described - last time I looked there was a lot less than a few months earlier. Wiki iirc.
I'm rather focussed on Trafigura in his case. Imo that helped to get him up the ladder. Can't imagine it was competence in anything much.
But as Head of tht MMU I would have expected him to be a member of the Labour Party.
