CRIMEWATCH RECONSTRUCTION - However, Kate and Gerry have banned the re-enactment of their daughter’s disappearance from taking place in Portugal through fear of angering the country’s police.

Oh my goodness look at this.....

'The pieces of the jigsaw are now fitting together': Missing Maddie's parents 'greatly encouraged' by new mobile phone evidence as probe spreads to Holland and Germany

  • Scotland Yard trawled calls made by people staying in the holiday resort

  • The force believes evidence could shed light on Maddie's disappearance

  • A Crimewatch special this month will launch a new appeal for information

[snipped]

As a result, the TV special will be aired on British, German and Dutch television.

It will feature an interview with the McCanns, while highlighting new leads uncovered by police.
The programme will also feature  a reconstruction of events in the  Portuguese resort on the night Madeleine disappeared.

However, Kate and Gerry have banned the re-enactment of their daughter’s disappearance from  taking place in Portugal through fear of angering the country’s police.

Instead they have allowed filming to go ahead in neighbouring Spain, with actors playing the roles of the anguished couple.

A three-year-old child actress, bearing a striking similarity to their daughter, will double as Madeleine.
Crimewatch editor Joe Mather said: ‘We are very hopeful this major reconstruction, along with the substantial new lines of enquiry, will prompt viewers with vital information to get in touch with officers in the studio.’

We are told that the Portuguese police have cleared the McCanns and that they are working alongside officers from Scotland Yard. If any of this is true, what possible reason would there be for the PJ to be angered by a reconstruction?

Unless of course the McCanns have other reasons for not wanting the PJ to see this, which of course they will, even if it is with Spanish subtitles.

Or have the McCanns been prevented from showing this in Portugal?

The McCanns have BANNED the reconstruction from taking place in Portugal!!!

So the McCanns are running the £5m taxpayer funded Scotland Yard investigation - not the police. Oh well, should've guessed.

So it's not a reconstruction at all, it's a worthless dramatisation of a/their version of events.

Pathetic.

I thought it was the Met in charge of this investigation, seems not, the McCanns have banned filming Portugal and have allowed filming in Spain. This from twitter.........

Head of crack Met team DCI Andy Redwood and editor and producer of BBC Crimewatch Team: "We'll be doing this reconstruction in Portugal".

Gerry and Kate McCann: "Oh no you won't. We're banning you from doing that".

Head of crack Met team DCI Andy Redwood and editor and producer of BBC Crimewatch Team: "Whoops, sorry. Go ahead and tell us exactly how you want the reconstruction done, Gerry..."

They don't want to anger the Portuguese police?  Clever, not only have they made a fantasy that they call a reconstruction they can also cover themselves in case those nasty angry foreign policemen try to 'frame' them.

Hang on. It's the McCanns producing the reconstruction to be shown on Crimewatch where they are scheduled to sit beside Andy Redwood?

Words fail me.

The Portuguese police always wanted a full reconstruction.
How dare the McCanns talk such crap.
Do they take the Met, the media and the public for idiots?

For crying out loud, someone needs to call their bluff and officially welcome a full reconstruction *now*.

If the reconstruction does not use the actual location and testified timings and movements, or replicates them in a computer model exactly replicating the location then there is NO way it can possibly be described as a reconstruction. It's pointless and worthless and should not be dignified with TV airtime.

Actually, I'm not sure I believe this story. The implication is that the Portuguese are NOT involved with this appeal eh

Exactly!

Why Spain? They may as well do it in Rothley for all it's usefulness.

No doubt the actors will give a more convincing performance of being 'anguished' than poor Madeleine's parents have ever done but I'm curious to know who will be playing the starring roles - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?

At least we know what to expect on the 14th - a made for tv melodrama loosely based on the fictional story of an abducted 3 year old and when the credits roll I will be looking for the name 'Emma Loach'.

ShuBob, I think it must be correct about not being in Portugal as the BBC have just put a new story up and it says (note the word abroad and not Portugal) now why would the BBC not tell us the location, if it was in Portugal, I'm sure they would have said so.....typical.

The British taxpayer pays for DCI Andy Redwood, and his team of - now 43 - Metropoloitan Police officers.

And has done for the past 2 years and 5 months.

The licence-fee payer is paying for this BBC Crimewatch event.

In both cases, those institutions must be working to a clear agenda and strategy - and with a desired result as their common goal.

They have invested a great deal of time and resources in those efforts.

Thanks candyfloss.

I refuse to be outraged by what's increasingly looking like a sick joke to be played out to Crimewatch audience by the BBC shame on you

There is a first time for most things but the UK's top Police Force appealing for information on national television whilst sitting side by side with the suspects really takes the biscuit.

I would imagine there aren't many hotels in Portugal, let alone the Alargave, willing to accomodate the McCanns and/or their entourage.

Judging from the opinons being expressed on t'internet, I predict A&E's up and down the country will be full to bursting with apoplexy sufferers shortly after the screening of the K&G show on the 14th.

What on earth must the PJ think of this 'Metropolitan response'??  It beggars belief.

Daily Mail wrote:In a joint statement, they said: ‘We are really hopeful the forthcoming appeal on Crimewatch will bring further new evidence which will take us a step closer to finding Madeleine and to bringing those responsible for her abduction to justice.’
Joint statement? Haven't all their statements been joint? Why state the obvious? I wonder if the Mail is being crafty considering the separation story that's doing the rounds.

Just when you think they can`t get away with anymore of this farce, we get this.

I get the feeling the Daily Mail is on a wind-up, saying things like the McCanns have banned the reconstruction from taking place in Portugal - no one can ban the police from doing an investigation how they want, unless it Crimewatch they`re banning and not the police.

Also the Mail`s use of the words `the McCanns have allowed`etc.

Perhaps the Mail are trying to provoke the public`s anger by getting everyone to think the McCanns have more power than they actually do.
