Yep it does and being the old grump that I can be I would answer that as I did to either Bunny or Whoknowsthetruth yesterday.

Nope not acceptable to have nannies running round listening at childrens' doors - doesn't tell you a thing like whether they are breathing or not and it is likely to cause a whole lot of upset and potential court cases.

I say that because I am guessing that in your scenario Mr and Mrs McCann would want somebodies head on a stick as would most parents whose child gets kidnapped whilst under the supervision of some nannie running round here there and everywhere or pedalling around on a bike as they used to do at Butlins.

Another way to think is if they had paid a babysitter to come into their home and she had buggered off out to meet her pals and only popped back every 30 minutes to check all was ok - how happy would they be with this if they found out?

Times have changed and I am still gobsmacked that this form of babysitting exists now.

times have changed, not that children are at more risk than they were, but that parents are more aware of the potential risk, and I don't understand it

I don't think that the paid babysitter example is comparable, because a paid babysitter is paid to sit.

What they were doing was comparable with a baby listening service. I've never heard of anybody being charged with neglect for using a baby listening service. If they had then the service would no longer exist.
