Kate McCann has confirmed what I'd heard about the McCanns' meeting with Home Secretary Theresa May to discuss the scoping report on the feasibility of a joint UK-Portugal review of all the information on Madeleine's disappearance gathered by forces in both countries.
She told the couple she hadn't read the scoping report, even though it had been delivered months before.
She told them, as well, that they couldn't see it themselves "because it's sensitive."
Difficult to imagine how the meeting went from that point.
I'm told the scoping report backs the McCanns' call for a joint review, as does the Association of Chief Police Officers.
The McCanns have now asked the Prime Minister to intervene and get the Portuguese authorities to agree to the review, which would cross-reference any clues that could be linked.
The couple have appealed to Cameron: "As a devoted father and family man, you know the importance of children."
I asked Kate if they had turned to the PM because they felt TM was unsympathetic as she does not have children.
Kate thought that was rather unfair of me.

I'm beginning to lose faith....these f*****s seem to be able to do as they please, and all the time the establishment and media in this country is constantly swinging into line behind them whenever needed.

The couple's abusive manner of playing on Cameron's heartstrings by referring to his son is not only unfair, it shows exactly what low class, vulgar, opportunists they are.
Believe me, I am being mild.

I find it odd behaviour too - for the McCanns to use the loss of his child to wrench attention from DC.
But it is strange that they had a reply from him within 24 hours. Is this normal.

Why all the negativity? I take "its too sensitive" to mean, "You wouldn't like what it has to say". Go Bob Dylan, play that song.

I'm inclined to agree - especially when placed in context with the ACC of Leicester Police's assertion that (paraphrased) "we don't give suspects access to the case files".
Time will tell of course ... The McCanns have no option but to appear pleased with the involvement of SY, so they will continue spinning it and SY have no other option but to appear to be impartial until such time as they have reviewed all the evidence from the beginning.
In the meantime ... well the book may be a bestseller but it's done the McCanns no favours at all in my opinion, because it's opened up the discussion again and this time there is a wealth of information, videos etc on the net. I personally know of more than a handful of people who previously believed the McCann's but who have done a bit of research following the book release and who's opinions have undergone a complete change around... and each of those is busy pointing relatives and friends in the direction of the police files and the dogs

Until their eyes are opened by someone and the facts are put on display.
When Belsen was liberated the American Commander forced all the local villagers from Bergen to walk through and to see what had happened within a few miles of their own homes. The mayor and his wife hanged themselves later that day.

Absolutely ... the Goebbels quote goes on to say that the technique only works for as long as the truth is ruthlessly suppressed - once the genie is out of the bottle it's only a matter of time before word spreads and the whole house of cards comes crashing down [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
