It is known that on one occasion, they were called back to their apartment by Mark Warner staff to attend to one of their children (probably Madeleine) who had been crying out in distress for at least an hour and a quarter, apparently pleading: ‘Daddy, Daddy’.

When Dr Kate McCann was asked on ‘Woman’s Hour’ whether the last time she saw Madeleine was when she was quietly asleep in her bed, there was a very long pause - several seconds - before she quietly said: ‘Yeah, she was’. It was quite evident to listeners that she had had to think hard about that particular question, on the spur of the moment, as to what her answer should be.

In the early days the image that came to my mind when I thought of Madeleine was of the little girl in the home video (shown on the news on 4th May 2007) looking very serious. Now with all that's happened since - the conflicting information about her eye condition and other photos which appear to be of different children - I can safely say that I wouldn't have known her if I'd seen her in 2007, let alone now.

Officers are seeking medical records to build up a case that she was incapable of controlling four-year-old Madeleine - and that the strain could have provoked her into violence while on holiday in Praia da Luz.

That photo is possibly the most shocking of them all, and should be published by all newspapers whenever Madeleine is mentioned.
This is not the face of someone putting on a brave face and smiling through adversity.
Gerry's face is clearly in full grin and happy smile mode. His cheek muscles are contracted, and there are wrinkles round the eyes.
In grief and adversity you see the smile only round the mouth, but you can also clearly see the sadness and strain round the eyes and forehead.
The Matthews woman was a better actor.

That would tie in with her comment in the diary about "Madeleine's fear of pain". Why would a 3 year old have a fear of pain?

Thanks PeterMac for posting the photo of the McCanns on 12th May 2007. Was it actually published anywhere at the time? I know that I have only been aware of it for a year or two. Some newer members may not have seen the clip from a news programme on 2nd May 2008 in which the McCanns are hamming it up talking about how they will survive (or not) the first anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance when there's a very interesting moment at around 2.42 when they think they're off camera. I'm sorry I don't know how to transfer the clip here so you'll need to go to You Tube, then look for "The McCanns show their true colours - MUST SEE!", submitted by pdoherty1976.

i just want to advise Gerry that if he wants people to look at the facts can he print out the case files the PA have and post them on his findmadeleine website that should be very helpful and truthful

I'm hoping that someone can repost a clip from a recent interview (possibly the Piers Morgan one) in which Gerry has trouble keeping a straight face when asked how he feels whenever there is a reported sighting of Madeleine. I can't locate it myself but I know how good other people are at finding old items - flattery will get you everywhere!
