The Reverend Haynes Q. Hubbard: God is an Englishman

God is an Englishman
I didn't know that. The Rev Haynes Hubbard has another name. Strange that. You'd have thought somewhere somehow that extra initial in his name would have popped up somewhere in the last 3 years wouldn't you. But it hasn't. The Reverend Haynes Q. Hubbard is his full name - just for the record.
In the picture above the Reverend, a Reverend by any name, is seen passing some time with Father 'Bob' in the parish of St. Vincent's in the Algarve.
Here is that Q as revealed on the Eurpoean Anglican website: Hubbard, The Reverend Haynes Quintin.
So now we all know. The Q stands for Quintin. The middle initial can often be a frippery, seen perhaps as a luxury by those that give but it is always worth remembering these fripperies are there for the rest of the receipient's life, if not for eternity itself.
The name Quintin could be funny and foolish to some ears but the name has does have meaning as Quintin as in St. Quintin. Quintin was a man born of a well to do Roman family who forsook his family ties and alliegences of money and power to preach as a Zealot for Christ. This all happened a long time ago, and 270 AD was a hazardous time for Zealots.The Romans eventually decided they'd had enough of this usurper and revolutionary so one day whilst Quintin was at prayer the Romans clapped him in irons. He escaped but they caught him again. This occurred just ouside the small town of Amiens in northern France.
The presiding magistrate a "prefect" by the name of Rictiovarus, condemned Quintin to the most barbarous torture and eventual death. First his body was pierced with two long iron wires from the neck to the thighs. Then iron nails were thrust under his nails and into his flesh in many places the area of choice being his skull. Lastly his head was cut off. Needless to say Quintin throughout all this never lost or abjured his faith.Without a head it was probably a big ask anyway.
A quick Google through masonic articles and archives and it is apparent the Freemasons have adopted alot of followers with the same name. Indeed there there is a unholy number of them with the name Quintin incorporated one way or another, and one member a Matthew St. Quintin no less, is listed on the website of the Old Grand Lodge of York. This is the home of the self proclaimed 'Premier Gand Assembly of English Freemasons 1705' and Matthew is detailed as having been sworn in as member of the cult, and is one of it's earliest members.The Freemasons like us like their heroes and their heroes are usually our heroes too.
Haynes Quintin Hubbard, just as his Roman ancestors to his name demand, has in his time done his fair share of subversive protesting. In October 2002 the Reverend Haynes Q. Hubbard joined with others in Canada to voice his written protest to the ideology of same sex marriages being carried on or conscecrated in Anglican churches.The original document is here:

The document is all very wordy as it's all about sex. There are alot of flowery paragraphs and numerous subsections. The signatures aren't too obvious at first but isn't that always the case when dealing with the subject of sex and the church, and here that really could mean any church. Just incase you really can't find his monniker here is the pertinent bit:
What the protesting Hubbard signed up to wasn't really subversive at all. It was a call for the retention of the status quo and nothing more. Hubbard's personnal belief is less reactionary but more conservative and far more interested in the upkeep of vested interest in the church. This Hubbard does whilst at the same time relegating criticsm of policy to pointless ecummenical argument.
Reverend Haynes Quintin Hubbard would have you see him as a man of the cloth who fights his corner proudly and without reserve, his parents were wise to choose such a name. Haynes Quintin Hubbard must also keenly aware that in serving God, the Christain God in public, whilst retaining other personnal beliefs he is denying himself and others in his parish the right to a truely Christain salvation. There again if God really is an Englishman I am certain he would understand all of this perfectly.
