Two things stood out to me in that article. Firstly that it stated the McCanns have lodged the appeal to prevent Amaral being able to sue them. So, a quite clear delaying tactic.
Secondly, the quote from the Fiona Bruce interview where Gerry admits that when they started the legal action 8 years ago, they believed that Amaral was harming the search for Madeleine. He said circumstances were very different then, admitting that Amaral is no longer harming the search. Why then continue with this action? Because they do not want to pay court costs and want to delay the possibility of being sued themselves.
So again, all about them. Nothing to do with Madeleine really.

Methinks the McCanns exceeded their 'reputation management' sell by date a very very long time ago.  Still never know, Netflix could restore them to their former glory and even catch a few sprats in the process big grin

Delaying tactic? ....most probably......but are these not two separate "entities" ?

Why and how are the MCCanns allowed to continue in this vein ( ECHR) without first finalising costs in the Amaral case?

And who exactly is paying for all this legal representation....the fund which was to search for Madeleine?

Gone, never forgotten but in my opinion is used in the most obscene way; has she not paid the "highest price" already ?

Seems we have yet another junior Journo who hasn't done her homework.  Surely they know by now that the McCanns have not been cleared.

A Decade Later, Madeleine McCann's Disappearance Is Still Very Much a Mystery

Netflix recently announced that it would be developing a true-crime documentary series about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Over a decade ago — on May 3, 2007 — the 3-year-old girl suddenly disappeared from the apartment her family was staying in while on holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal. The tragic incident received global attention. Though several leads and theories emerged, the case remains unsolved. Netflix will likely present new findings and revealing interviews with its documentary series, but if you're not familiar with the story at all, here's an overview of the facts you need to know.

The Trip

On April 28, 2007, Kate and Gerry McCann left the UK with their daughter Madeleine and 2-year-old twins. In Praia da Luz, the family was staying at a ground-floor apartment located in a large resort they found through a travel agency. The apartment was owned by a retired teacher from Liverpool.

Though they had their own private apartment, the McCann family was holidaying with a group of seven friends, as well as their respective children. The group consisted of Matthew and Rachael Oldfield; Jane Tanner and her partner, Russell O'Brien; Fiona and David Payne; and Fiona's mother, Dianne Webster. Throughout the trip, they would all often put their little ones to bed before meeting for food and drinks in the resort's tapas restaurant. As a result, the media later referred to the group of the adults as the Tapas Seven.

The Disappearance

In retrospect, Kate and Gerry noticed some strange occurrences on the morning of Madeleine's disappearance. As they ate breakfast on May 3, Madeleine asked her parents, "Why didn't you come when we [Madeleine and her brother] were crying last night?" The parents later thought it was strange and wondered what led to them both crying. After a day at the pool, the family returned to the apartment and the children went to sleep around 7 p.m. Madeleine was last seen wearing pink-and-white Eeyore pajamas.

An hour later, Kate and Gerry left the apartment to meet with the Tapas Seven at their usual spot a short distance away. Though they locked the front door of the apartment, they left the sliding patio door unlocked so that they could easily stop by and check on the children every half hour throughout the course of the evening. From the restaurant, the apartment was only slightly visible.

A little after 9 p.m., Gerry stopped by the apartment to check on the children and found them all safe and asleep. Gerry did notice something a little off: when he had left the apartment for dinner earlier, he closed the door to the children's bedroom. Now, it was slightly open. He closed the door once again and returned to the restaurant.

As Gerry made his way back, Jane Tanner went to go check on her own daughter and allegedly passed by Gerry speaking with an acquaintance on the way back. Another half hour later, Kate was about to do another check when Matthew Oldfield offered to stop by the McCann apartment before checking on his own children next door. When he got there, he noticed that the children's bedroom door was open. Unfortunately, he didn't look too thoroughly inside the room and has claimed that nothing seemed amiss.

At 10 p.m., Kate decided to do the next check herself. She entered through the sliding patio door and saw that the children's bedroom was open. The door then reportedly slammed shut due to a draft. As she entered the room, she noticed that the bedroom window was also open and Madeleine was gone. She ran to the restaurant screaming, "Madeleine's gone! Someone's taken her!" Gerry instructed Matthew to call the police, which he did from the reception desk. The resort's staff and many guests then began searching for Madeleine.

The Aftermath

Following Madeleine's disappearance, several leads emerged. In one claim that has since been largely disputed, Jane said she saw a man carrying a child when she went to go check up on the children. She later reported this sighting and provided a description of the man. Investigators later concluded that it was a fellow British holidayer who was returning to his apartment with his own daughter.

Another man was reportedly seen carrying a child that night. A couple staying at the resort, Martin and Mary Smith, said they saw a man walking away from the resort and toward the beach around the same time Madeleine is believe to have been kidnapped. They said he looked uncomfortable holding the child. Though police sketches were drafted, that man has never been located.

One theory claimed that the McCanns and the Tapas Seven were responsible. At a press conference, a journalist asked Madeleine's parents if they were somehow involved, sparking media outlets throughout Europe to pick up that theory. To look into that possibility, the police brought in two sniffing dogs — one of which was trained to detect human blood and the other, human cadavers. Both dogs alerted officers to areas in the McCanns' apartment and car. Officers then collected hair and fibre samples from the car. It was later leaked to the press that a clump of hair found in the car matched Madeleine's DNA. After some internal shuffling within the local police unit, however, Madeleine's parents were cleared as suspects and the evidence was deemed unsubstantial.

Though investigators and the general public have never stopped searching for answers, Madeleine's disappearance is still a mystery. Though some investigators believe she was kidnapped by human traffickers, no considerable breakthroughs have been made. Everyone still emotionally invested in the case, however, is hoping that the upcoming documentary will be able to provide some answers.

Sky brings Netflix on board
By Chris Johnston Business reporter, BBC News

Bright is one of the Netflix shows that will be available to Sky Q subscribers

Sky will make Netflix available through its latest box in an attempt to tackle the threat posed by the popular streaming service.
The satellite broadcaster will allow viewers to watch Netflix shows on its Sky Q platform later this year.

Customers will pay for Netflix as part of their Sky bill, although prices have not yet been announced.

Sky said the move would make the entertainment experience "easier and simpler" for customers.

Reed Hastings, Netflix chief executive, said the partnership would allow Sky subscribers to seamlessly access the best entertainment in one place.

The streaming service's mix of original drama, films and other programming has proved popular globally, with subscriber numbers reaching nearly 118 million at the end of 2017.

While pay-TV rival Virgin Media has offered Netflix to its customers for some time, Sky has regarded it as an "existential threat to its service", said Tom Harrington, an analyst at Enders.

"It has inconvenienced its subscribers, who are more likely to have Netflix than those without pay-TV, because it has believed that its content was strong and exclusive enough to justify operating a walled garden," he said.

"It seems as if that confidence has subsided and bringing a competitor on board - one that could potentially satisfy Sky's subscribers for a much lower price - is a risky move that cannot now be backed away from, but at least is a sure source of shared revenues."

The deal comes as US media giant Comcast threatens to derail Rupert Murdoch's attempt to take full control of Sky.

Earlier this week, members of CMOMM sent this letter to Pulse Film’s Non-Scripted Television Managing Director

===================================================

27 February 2018

ATTN EMMA COOPER, MANAGING DIRECTOR, NON-SCRIPTED TELEVISION, PULSE FILMS

Dear Emma Cooper.

We refer our recent 'phone call about the Madeleine McCann documentary you are helping to make.

We read this on the internet a few months back:

"The eight-part true-crime series is being made in association with Viacom-owned Hollywood studio Paramount Television. It aims to shine a light on the three-year-old’s disappearance in 2007, and will include interviews with key figures and investigators. Pulse managing director of non-scripted television Emma Cooper is exec producing the project. The Vice-owned indie declined to comment".

As you will know, the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains an abiding mystery. There have been several TV documentaries on the case, but none of them seems to have got anywhere near solving this deep mystery.

The Portuguese Police investigation co-ordinator, Goncalo Amaral, and his team  concluded, from the evidence, that Madeleine had died in her parents' holiday apartment
and that they had conspired to hide her body and perform what has been described as a 'hoax abduction' scenario. The evidence provided by internationally-respected top sniffer dog handler, Martin Grime, was a major part of that evidence, as in his report Grime claimed that his two cadaver dogs had detected the 'smell of death' in no fewer than 17 locations in Praia da Luz associated with the McCanns.

We have seen reports on the internet that members of your team, as part of their researches, have been to Praia da Luz and spoken to Sergey Malinka, a close friend of the first suspect in the case, Robert Murat, and to David Jones, a local businessman and a long-time friend of Malinka, and probably Robert Murat as well. At the time Netflix researchers were said to be talking to them, both Jones and Malinka had embarked on a strange project to raise funds for a book Malinka was supposed to be writing about his life story and his involvement in the Madeleine McCann case, called: 'Collateral Damage'. Malinka made two professional videos in support of this project and David Jones also appeared in a video.

This project had all the hallmarks of a scam. Nothing appears to have come of it.

We would suggest from our knowledge of the case that you are most unlikely to get any information worth having about the Madeleine McCann case from either Malinka or Jones.

We hope, however, that in making your film, you and your fellow researchers will contact the following people, in order to see what they say and what evidence they have:

1 Goncalo Amaral, the Portuguese Police investigation co-ordinator into Madeleine’s reported disappearance

2 Paulo Reis, a Portuguese journalist who has researched the Madeleine McCann case intensively for 10 years,

3 Peter MacLeod, a retired, ex-pat former Superintendent with Nottingham Police, now living in Spain, whose free e-book on the case can viewed here and elsewhere: http://whatreallyhappenedtomadeleinemccann.blogspot.co.uk/  and

4 Richard D Hall, a film- and documentary-maker whose work on the case over the past four years has resulted in 17 hours of fact-filled documentaries about Madeleine McCann, all now on YouTube, where they have attracted over 20 million views to date. Over 100 people have uploaded their own copies of his films to YouTube. They are impactful.

If the public is to get the fullest possible hard information on the case in your 8-part series, in our judgment your researchers should be talking in depth to each of them, if you have not already done so, and be using the very best of the material each of them has to offer.

We have all their contact details if you need them.

Yours sincerely

Madeleine McCann on Netflix release date: When will the documentary series be released?

NETFLIX is set to be releasing a brand new true crime documentary series about British girl Madeleine McCann, who went missing in 2007 while on holiday in Portugal with her family.

A Madeleine McCann Netflix documentary series is in the works
When will the Madeleine McCann Netflix documentary be released?
The Madeleine McCann documentary series is yet to get a release date from and title from Netflix.
There are set to be eight episodes in the new documentary series, which comes a year after the one-off Amanda Knox special.

Reports about the upcoming documentary series started circulating last year.
The series will feature interviews with investigators and key figures in the case.
However, Gerry and Kate McCann will not be in the upcoming programme on the streaming giant.
The couple reportedly declined to take part in the series because of the Metropolitan Police’s ongoing investigation - Operation Grange - into their daughter’s disappearance, according to the MailOnline.
Madeleine’s parents have vowed to never give up in the search for their eldest child.
It’s likely that all episodes of the Madeleine McCann documentary will be dropped in one go, much like most other Netflix Originals.

Madeleine McCann disappeared at the age of 3 from a holiday resort in Portugal
The programme will be trying to piece together the case with audiences trying to figure out the case.
Following on from the success of Making A Murderer, the true crime genre has seen a growth in popularity.
Netflix has tapped into this demand for more true crime and real-life documentary series with the release of The Keepers, Wild, Wild Country and the previously mentioned Amanda Knox. The Wright Stuff: Caller has strong view on Madeleine McCannPlay Video

What will the Madeleine McCann Netflix documentary be about?
The Madeleine McCann Netflix documentary will focus on the child’s disappearance from the hotel apartment on the resort of Praia da Luz in Portugal.
So far over £11 million is thought to have been spent on the investigation into Madeleine’s case.
The three-year-old went missing from her hotel room while sleeping near her younger twin siblings while her parents were at dinner nearby.
The documentary series is just one of a number that have explored the case.

The recent Netflix original 6 part documentary 'Wild Wild Country' on Bhagwan Shree Raajneesh and his followers in Oregon USA is absolutely marvelous and a 'must see'
https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2018/03/wild-wild-country-the-mindboggling-story-of-the-cult-next-door/555791/
If that is anything to go by the production standards will be very high.

Pulse Films will investigate the disappearance of Madeleine McCann for Netflix - Page 2 Empty Madeleine McCann eight-part Netflix documentary coming - what you need to know

More than £11 million has been spent on the probe to find the missing girl, who vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz

A brand-new eight-part Madeleine McCann documentary is coming to Netflix.
Madeleine was three when she vanished from apartment 5A on Rua Dr Agostinho da Silva in the Algarve village at about 9pm on May 3, 2007.

Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, of Rothley, Leicestershire, have vowed to do "whatever it takes for as long as it takes" to find her.
British detectives working on the case revealed recently that they were pursuing a "significant" line of inquiry, with information received on a daily basis.
More than £11million has been spent on the probe to find the missing girl, who vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.
The case will now form the centre of a new as-yet-untitled, eight episode true crime series, featuring interviews with both investigators and key figures from the case.
This isn’t the first time Netflix has dabbled in controversial criminal cases, releasing last year a one-part documentary on Amanda Knox, the American student who served almost four years in an Italian prison for the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, before being definitively acquitted. Sick paedophile told police he killed Madeleine McCann for fame

True crime’s surge in popularity was certainly aided by Netflix’s own Making a Murderer, based on Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey’s conviction of Teresa Halbach.
A release date for the Madeleine McCann documentary has yet to be announced.

I would urge people to keep an open mind about this. Netflix is positioning itself as the go to network for true crime and they have commissioned some great true crime documentaries. Making a Murderer, The Keepers, Evil Genius to name a few. Unlike UK media, Netflix isn't sycophantic and they often explore dark, troubling tales with a provocative and challenging  angle - The Keepers is about a nun who was murdered because she was about to expose pedophile priests. They explore different angles and generally not the official narrative. If anyone is capable of doing this story justice and sparking controversy it is Netflix. I don't think they would commission another predictable official version of events. I am hopeful.

Conversely it could be a showcase, a PR stunt, to tantalize an audience.

This news first hit the headlines over a year ago and here we are still waiting waiting - reminiscent of the untold story that still hasn't materialized.

The initial promotion said .... "will include interviews with key figures and investigators." think I wonder who that might be that hasn't been interviewed before by for the many other explosive documentaries. Mark Williams-Thomas maybe? He's always willing for a shilling.

I'm not at all optimistic about this - I hope you're right Crackfox.

I'm waiting for 'Making a Murderer 2', which is also in the pipeline. If you have access to Netflix you should check out some of their previous true crime documentaries - they really are very good and are often critical of the police, the legal system and media coverage of cases. In 'Making a Murderer' for example, there is a clear implication that the police framed Steven Avery because he was in line for a huge payout for a previous wrongful conviction. Regarding  'Vice', my son watches a lot of their documentaries on Syria and he's shown me a few which again are very interesting because they seem to get unique access. I think in this case we're all cynical because of the way MSM has handled the case and British libel laws which don't guard freedom of speech the same way US law does - but I don't think Netflix does bland and vanilla and I expect something different. Personally, I don't think they wouldn't do this unless there was an untold story and we all know what that is.

IMO something has spooked GM enough to make him feel the need to talk about his mental health and it could be this. If all we get is the usual suspects spouting the usual nonsense I will be very surprised because Netflix has gained its reputation for taking risks and giving filmmakers far more freedom than other networks.

The more I look at this pending Netflix exposé, the less likely I think it will be.

It's all been done before.

If these people, any of them, are truly concerned about Madeleine McCann's disappearance and not just capitalizing by her name, why don't they do something constructive - like privately and quietly investigate or re-investigate the case and pass their work onto the official police force when completed.

The official police are the only body that can prosecute, unless one is moving towards a citizens arrest or mob bashing.

bignono

Seems to me the only body with a genuine altruistic purpose is CMoMM and associates.

Hi Verdi, Jim Gamble-McCann's,Netflex expect Truth, after the way this pair played a hand in the dossier with Martin Brunt and Sir(Lance Not)Hogan Howe,Mrs Brenda Leyland, suicide?

People from the Pro side" Well at least it's a day out ", at this Woman's Coroners inquest, that is what you are dealing with!

Now if Netflex were to garner information relating to Mrs Brenda Leylands Death(Suicide),taunted for hours by Sky News Corporation Headlines, then,Gerry McCann has the gal to sneer at this woman's demise,He never apologised, remember?

Now cretin McCann claiming his "Mental State"after what he and his cronies anticipated, wanted to expose these elements,Trolls, let us never forget these facts, where these nefarious individuals are concerned, they are in league with their own Devils on what they have inflicted so far!

Let Netflex film these vile elements first,do you think they'll do this,no they don't want to expose the "Establishments" involvement, after Eleven yrs collusion to trace?

Remember at Haute De La Guranne, a seasoned USA Journalist came over to film documentary, deported immediately back to USA No visa application granted refused by the Home Office,Theresa May,expect similar on Netflex on Madeleine McCann exposure!

Well, we've had Poulton enterprises hovering in the wings for a number of years, threatening a grand exposé - one day in the future unknown.  Then there was that humdinger of an Australian revelationary documentary back in the beginning of 2017.  A mock up of past coverage edited to suit !!!

If that didn't put the willies up G McCann and induce a depressive state, I don't know what would.

Sky and Netflix announce plans to create 'ultimate' TV package

The rivals' plans to launch a combined service are revealed, allowing customers to access each other's content on one platform.

18:26, UK, Wednesday 19 September 2018

Sky and Netflix have announced details of their partnership, creating what they say will be the UK's "biggest on demand TV service".

The deal, first announced earlier this year, will see subscribers to Sky Q - Sky's premium TV box - able to access an 'Ultimate On Demand' pack for £10 extra per month.

It will allow customers of Sky, the owner of Sky News, full access to the Netflix app through their single Sky subscription, rather than having to pay Netflix separately.

Existing Sky Q customers with Netflix would be able to "easily move their account to the new pack or sign in to the Netflix app on Sky Q using their existing Netflix account details," Sky said.

The combined service will see Sky original productions such as Patrick Melrose and US shows such as HBO's Game of Thrones alongside Netflix's content, which includes The Crown and Stranger Things, for the first time.

Chief executive of Sky's UK and Ireland operation, Stephen van Rooyen, said: "We want Sky Q to be the number one destination for TV fans.

"Partnering with Netflix means we will have all the best TV in one great value pack, making it even easier for you to watch all of your favourite shows.

Chris Whiteley, Netflix director of business development for the UK and Ireland, added: "Innovation is at the core of Netflix.

"We are delighted to partner with Sky to offer fans a new and exciting way to access the best of entertainment from around the world."

A cross-company approach to shared content is not new to Sky after it announced late last year that it had done a deal with BT to show each other's channels.

The surging growth of streaming services is the core reason Sky is at the centre of an ongoing takeover battle involving 21st Century Fox and Comcast.

Traditional media companies are seeking to bolster their offerings to take on the financial might of the tech firms behind the streaming trends, including Amazon with its Prime service.
