70 Questions AND still more reasons why there should be a full public enquiry into all aspects of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann
The Madeleine Foundation has for a long time argued that there should be a full public enquiry into all the circumstances surounding the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
We may in due course be submitting a formal demand for this to the relevant government departments, and clearly we already have in mind a good number of reasons why the government should open such an enquiry.
But you may also have reasons why there should be a public enquiry.
So I am opening a thread in which I'd invite you to give reasons, in one sentence, why there should be a full public enquiry into all apsects of the disappeareance of Madeleine McCann.
I'll start off...
1. Because there is concern at how the public's donations were used to pay for the services of a controversial private detective agency, Metodo 3, and a suspected serial fraudster and con-man, Kevin Halligen.

3. It concerns me that the "goal-posts" on this fund have been moved more than once resulting in the McCanns paying their mortgage from it and then becoming directors themselves. Also that the McCanns have never once, in all their television interviews to solicit money, admitted on camera that this fund is not a charity or made it perfectly clear to the public what they are actually donating for.

17. Three children under 4 left on their own. Madeleine reported as missing/abducted.
How can the fate of a child be allowed to go unanswered when so many aspects of the investigation weren't followed through or complied with due to of lack of co-operation by her parents, who were responsible for her welfare, and the rest of the group on that holiday.

18. Why was the fund, for some time, referred to as a charity? There has never been a full and well broadcasted explanation given for the change, as far as I am aware.
Certainly a large sum of money must have been raised on that premiss.

Thanks very much for an excellent set of responses to date.
Let us keep it going...
19. Were the Home Office guilty of undue delay in dealing with the Portuguese Police's request for rogatory interviews?
20. Was it reasonable of the Home Office to deny the Portuguese Police access to Madeleine's medical records?
21. Did Gordon Brown visit (a) the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham and (b) Leicestershire Police Headquarters and on each occasion was the Madeleine McCann case discussed and with whom?
22. Was the relationship between Detective Superintendent Stuart Prior and the 'Tapas 9' far too 'matey'?

Why the lack of news coverage?
Apart from news that "favours" the abduction theory, there is none that attempts to cover the many discrepances or answer the many questions that have come to the fore because of the McC's own actions.
