Roidininki, I doubt very much that they ever left their small children alone. Especially so, having struggled to conceive . . . . but publicly admitting they left their small children alone is preferable in their minds to admitting the possibly far worse scenario.

Admitting leaving the children alone? Many of us are now leaning towards the "claiming" that the children were left alone, rather than "admitting".

If we were to believe that Madeleine was abducted from the apartment, as they have claimed, then we would also have to believe that the parents were away from the apartment at the time of the alleged abduction.

They could not really claim this abduction if they were there. Therefore, they have a choice, tell the truth or make out that they were not present at the time. Notice how they tried to minimise their alleged wrong doing by saying that it was like eating in your own garden and claiming that they checked regularly.

Besides, if Madeleine did disappear earlier in the week, no way would the group risk the safety of another child by leaving them un-attended.
