The mother of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has slammed “downright lies” circulating on social media ahead of the 10th anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance.
Liverpool-born Kate also stated the anniversary of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] disappearance was a “horrible marker of time, stolen time.”
Madeleine was three in 2007 when she went missing from the family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
Kate said in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on the Official Find Madeleine Campaign Facebook page: “We are bracing ourselves for the next couple of weeks.
British police conduct a finger-tip search of an area of scrubland close to where Madeleine McCann went missing seven years ago, in the resort of Praia da Luz, Portugal.
“It’s likely to be stressful and painful and more so given the rehashing of old ‘stories’, misinformation, half-truths and downright lies which will be doing the rounds in the newspapers, social media and ‘special edition’ TV programmes.
In the message, Kate said they “couldn’t even begin to consider anything in terms of years” when their daughter first disappeared.
She wrote: “Ten years - there’s no easy way to say it, describe it, accept it. And now here we are... Madeleine, our Madeleine - ten years.
“Most days are similar to the rest - another day. May 3rd 2017 - another day. But ten years - a horrible marker of time, stolen time.”
However, she insisted “there will always be hope”.
Back in 2013, Kate thanked Liverpool people for their help and support.
She said: “When we have made it up to Liverpool, it’s always been a positive trip.
“Whether it’s been a reassuring squeeze on the arm from a passer-by or a slap on the back at Goodison with a “Y’alright love?”, the support and solidarity of my hometown has been obvious – and very appreciated.”
Last week, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ’s ex-nanny revealed what really happened on the night of her disappearance.
A child minder who looked after Madeleine has spoken out about how she tried to comfort weeping mum Kate as she cried “they’ve taken her”.

She also said that the resort was considered so unsafe, nannies were warned not to leave the complex at night on their own, and were supplied with rape alarms.
Breaking her 10-year silence, the witness - who did not wish to be named - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Praia Da Luz was considered so dangerous that nannies working there were given rape alarms and told not to go out alone.
She said: “I just couldn’t get over how different it was to other Mark Warner resorts.
“We were told: ‘Here’s a rape whistle, don’t go anywhere by yourself, ever.’ There’d been a girl attacked the year or so before in Praia da Luz. It didn’t sound like a family resort to me.
“I just got the feeling the locals didn’t want us there.”

Too little, too late 'Liverpool Kate!' You should have put your apparent boundless jogging energy into answering the 48 police questions, and attending the reconstruction, so your alleged abducted 3 year old stood a decent chance.

"the rehashing of old ‘stories’, misinformation, half-truths and downright lies."
Yes exactly. Mitchell's been working overtime lately.

Didn't Gerry say something very early on about planning some sort concert, though it wasn't necessarily going to be a year after the disappearance?

Re: Liverpool Echo 25th April - Madeleine McCann's mum Kate slams 'downright lies' spread on social media ahead of 10th anniversary
Sunday June 3,2007 By Jason Groves.
Gerry McCann, 38, said: “One of the ideas is maybe getting all the people who have publicly supported us to come together. I don’t just mean from the UK but from different parts of the world. We want a big event to raise awareness that she is still missing.
“We would look at high-profile people who have already pledged support. It will be some sort of focus around an anniversary, to tell people that Madeleine’s still missing. I think it would be later this year, once media attention has dropped, to bring it back up, hopefully, for a short period.
“It wouldn’t be a one-year anniversary, it will be sooner than that. What we’re doing at the minute has its role but doing that down the line in a few months won’t have anything like the same impact. We might have a sporting event, something arts, something music.
"We’ve had backing from sporting people up to now. We have had backing from certain musical celebrities as well. We’ve got some other musical contacts that we are exploring, who are happy to offer support.
“We’re not saying it would necessarily be one big concert, it might be that on a certain day they are playing her DVD.

The Liverpool Echo is part of the Trinity Mirror Group, so what the Daily Mirror says, Djeckoh tends to repeat.
The Sun is a rare rag in Liverpool, after McKenzie's 1989 front page on Hillsborough, so most who read red tops, tend to read The Mirror instead. For some reason, it's seen as a slightly more credible read, especially when it come to sport.
Clarence will know this, so to get the home crowd on side, positive McCann stories are in the Mirror, and in turn they are backed up by stories in regional Echo.
Just because Kate is a native Liverpudlian, doesn't say that everyone from the city believes her story, like every city, or town, there will be those residents who do, and those who don't.
Liverpool. like every major city has it's fair share of rogues, it also has a majority of very decent people too, who don't believe what is printed in the press.
The answer to Sandancer's question is, Kate had to come from somewhere, just be glad she didn't come from Tyneside.
And to Verdi, you know the Liver Bird is a mythical bird, very much like Kate's account... it's a work of fiction.
