Well, plenty did so with the McCanns so I guess he thinks he's in with a chance.

No, I would not donate £1.
What happened to the tv rights and one billion people watching worldwide?
Has Murat really asked for £50,000?

Stephen doesn't seem to have realised that, if he makes extravagant claims about TV audiences etc, people will expect him to follow them through.
He says on Facebook that Robert Murat has asked for the money but I rather doubt it somehow.

It's a good deal for Murat if he needs his drive repaving anyway though.
I think Jimmy Hoffa might be in our hot water boiler. Can 3000 people send me £1 each so I can get it checked out please?

As a mother of a son with Asperger's syndrome I would be grateful if you would kindly clarify your blunt remark, Bristow.

Bristow may not be being nasty. It may be true. Can he tell us if it is true? If it is, it may not be remotely relevant to his desire to dig up the Murat's drive. As someone who has in the past taught youngsters with the particular Asbergers mindset, on the autistic spectrum, it has nothing at all to do with virtue or madness, or anything else that the popular press would claim.

Well, if push comes to shove I'd rather give him the pound to find Madeleine than the Official Fund that hinders search for her.
Question is: how is he going to get 50,000 people to do that?
Maybe if he performs in Covent Garden or Hyde Park he might draw enough
crowd.

Ask 100,000 people to buy a £1 raffle ticket and award a £50,000 prize

I wondered if he`s somewhere on the spectrum some time ago - his obsessiveness, his attention to detail, seems in own world, lack of humour, lack of awareness of what people think of him, probably very clever in regard to his career.

It doesn`t cost £50,000 to dig up a small patch of driveway.
Murat`s made enough money out of this case.

Why would Murat demand £50,000? That's some resentment he's harbouring if he's prepared to display himself in such a distastefully mercenary light. He'd immediately offer the excavation for the cost of the repairs if he was feeling benign to the whole affair. Anything to help, and all that, plus good publicity for him.
It obviously means there's nowt there anyway - no price would be high enough if there was.

Has anyone posted that they've donated? I'm reluctant to join his fb group but if anyone here is it might be worth posing the question of what he plans to do if he say gets half the money or double the money. OK the last is beyond belief but if he got less would he return it to the donators?

Could you please source where the last 3 features are mentioned as being on the autism spectrum?
I am finding these posts re autism, related to negative aspects of Birch's character, very offensive and somewhat ignorant.

Birch's continuing obsession with the digging of the driveway, along with the sledgehammer way in which he tries to get his point across reminds me of aspects of my son and quite a few boys at his school.
No offence was meant in the least, I meant what I said.
Why do you find what I said offensive Russiandoll?

No source ..... except my nephew. Not intended to offend RD. The autistic spectrum is very wide and some are positive traits - in fact they all are.

thank you for that Bristow, I was unsure of what you meant as the comment re autism was very brief and blunt.
My son suffers from anxiety at times and was wrongly diagnosed as having mild OCD at first. An acquaintance of mine has a son at primary school, he has Asperger's and when he gets overstimulated and upset by different noises in class, he now no longer stands with his hands over his ears shaking his head in frustration, the teacher sees the signs and asks her assistant to take him to work in a quiet room near his classroom.
o/t so now back to Birch and his ideas.
Thanks again.
eta Woofer, maybe I am being over-sensitive because every post re Birch seems negative and so the autism remarks read as negative also.
thank you for your reply.
no more from me now you will be glad to hear !

Leaving aside issues as to whether Birch is autistic or has Asperger's Syndrome, he is in some respects at least a man to be reckoned with.
To date, 92,269 people have viewed this YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQhe05pkcYg
...titled, provocatively and entirely inaccurately: 'Madeleine McCann: Stephen Birch: Corpse found...'
...and he travelled from South Africa to Portugal, with a night-time infra-red cine camera, sneaking in to the grounds of Casa Liliana when the dogs weren't there, and managed to produce graphics of a so-called 'space' under Murat's driveway - which (say Birch and Sonia Poulton of 'The People's Voice') managed to convince five 'experts'.
Kevin Halligen conned £500,000 plus expenses out of the Directors of 'Madeleine's Fund - Leaving No Stone Unturned', whilst living the high life in London, New York and Italy with his girlfriend Shirin Trachiotis.
It's just astonishing what con-merchants can get away with these days - and how many people are prepared to believe them...

Yes my son could not be in mainstream school one of the aspects of his autism is over sensitivity to certain sounds and stimulus. He also becomes totally focussed on one thing, at the moment it is WW1 that is all he will discuss and comes out with comments that the average Joe in the street would or could find offensive, although he is not meaning it to be offensive. He also knows in the finest detail a lot of what was involved in WW1.russiandoll wrote:thank you for that Bristow, I was unsure of what you meant as the comment re autism was very brief and blunt.

I also have to cut all the labels out of his clothes and underwear otherwise he will just take them off as the sensation is horrific to him.
There are many, many aspects of Autism, too many to list on this thread as it is off topic.
