That's the mystery, in the same way that there is no evidence that Madeleine was abducted. It all comes down to who one believes

That is not the point, Pascal. By refusing to assist the police in their investigation, Kate hampered the search for Madeleine - bad enough that she couldn't be bothered searching herself because it was too dark. So there you have it - Kate couldn't make time to venture over the doorstep to search for her own child nor would she answer the police questions as she was more interested in texting her mates. Oh and lets not forget that Kate and her chums were too busy to return for a reconstruction - YET SHE CAN MAKE TIME TO PAINT BALLOONS !!!!!!!!!!

I notice she took the time to write on the balloon: "Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing..."

Very apt sentiments from someone who didn't look, didn't answer the questions, didn't take part in the reconstruction....maybe she realises her mistake? Or maybe she realised she could make another £82 for the mortgage pot.

Exactly Gran. Totally agree. so why should this painting be cause for concern? If it is raising money what is the issue? There is no proof of the McCanns guilt or an abduction, so are we to expect the McCanns to sit quietly and behave in a way which we, the voice of the people (yeah right) would find acceptable?

In the great scheme of things does it really matter? Should it matter?

Yes I would have torn up PDl looking for my cat - let alone my daughter - but that doesn't prove anything does it?

I don't think it's proof that is the issue here so much as how people perceive the behaviour. For those who believe Madeleine was abducted and the parents are totally innocent, their activities can almost be interpreted as a form of therapy, something which is helping wounds to heal. However, for others who do not believe Madeleine was abducted, and I am one of those people, it can appear as though they are putting up a sort of smokescreen to prevent the truth from coming out.

Personally, I have nothing against selling this drawing. People who choose to bid know exactly what they are putting their money up for, though I do find the choice of quotes rather curious.

Well spotted interesting choice of words.

Because two of the last UK Governments intervened, Pascal.

Because the FSS colluded with the Government.

Because Leicester police colluded with the Government. (And did not even send statements to Portugal for five months. See if this strikes you as odd.)

Because Amaral was removed from the case.

Familiarise yourself with some of the communications sent between authorities and then ask why even some Embassy emails are not fit for human consumption.

There is a whole host of reasons, Pascal. The more familiar you become with Stuart Prior's role, the easier it will be for you to answer your question for yourself. There are many other gateways to explore besides Prior, but using him as a starter-pack should get you on the road.

Ultimately it is the choice of the potential buyer as to what they purchase with their own money and is none of my business. The same can be said for whoever and whatever they are selling too. (as long as it is legal)

Personally speaking, any charity that the McCanns align themselves to or visa versa, I would not touch with a very long barge pole.

Interestingly enough there are several registered charites with the name PACT (Prison Advice & Care Trust & Parents And Children Together, to name a couple) I just hope that the intended charity actually receives their donation as we never seem to be quite sure where and what donations will be used for these days

Nothing about this case surprises me or shocks me. Not even ebay being used as an international publicity machine. Who knows if one day the Coca-Cola company will use the McCanns s their celebrities? They certainly made much use of Michael Jackson.

Or maybe the Vanish cleaning product company will facilitate with some reciprocal gesturing? I believe their ad-line is still to 'Trust pink!'

One is concerned that the parents are using Madeleine's name in this improper way. The money raised seems an insignificant amount. Where are those millionaire friends who have consistently supported their whimsical notions? They lost the public vote of confidence when they were made arguidos, but they still had the support of their patrons. The paltry amount raised has shown that not all bases are being covered. Are the big bucks withdrawing and extricating themselves fom the situation?

Maybe there never were any patrons or millionaire friends. The support of the so called high profile personalities happened at the beginning.........no doubt as a result of a highly polished PR machine. But there is nothing to suggest these people were friends.

The word 'friends' was used loosely, twinkle Very loosely indeed. One thought of words such as 'benefactors' and 'mates', but it is a very mixed bag of people we are acknowledging here.

The support from high profile people has voraciously continued throughout, twinkle. Surely you must have noticed.

The surprisingly low bids on ebay show that some corner of their support system has not covered all bases.

A high bid should have been placed much earlier on in the week, if only so that a story could have been made from it. Billions of people are aware of ebay and the McCanns. I am afraid this winning bid is not a good sign at all.
