Thank you very much for all your signatures.Praiaaa wrote:just saw this and signed
Now 290 signatures, and it has moved up steadily to 465th position (out of nearly 6,000 petitions).
With an all-round effort, getting friends and relatives to sign it, we can push this much higher - and really get it noticed:

The sheer waste of money on the inept and unsuccessful official and private investigations into Madeleine's disappearance has surely contributed to recent tragic events

You do realise that 10,000 signatures are required just for a response from the relevant government departmentTony Bennett wrote:Thank you very much for all your signatures.Praiaaa wrote:just saw this and signed

and 100,000 for it to be debated by a backbench committee
Combining this current Madeleine Mccann epetition with the additional 2 that are open, together with the four that are closed and the 10 that have been rejected - the total of all Madeleine petitions just passes 500 signatures. No matter what we all feel the combined number of doubting/demanding voices is way below what is required to demand anything to happen/change.
To put things in perspective the epetition raised to request more government backing for the Ben Needham search raised 19,514 signatures
300 signatures in 2 weeks is unfortunately extremely poor in the epetition world and is not going to result in any action - sorry

Yes - but the demand made by the petitioner is a good one and one which many people support, so I suggest that we try to swell the numbers.Sceptic wrote:You do realise that 10,000 signatures are required just for a response from the relevant government department and 100,000 for it to be debated by a backbench committee
You don't get a large snowball to run down the hill unless you first start with a small one and make it bigger and bigger.
Who's to say we can't make 10,000?

[ ETA @ Sceptic - Looking back through your recent posts, the general theme of them seems to be 'don't do this, don't do that, you're wasting your time'. Added to which you recently said: "Logically we don't know what Grange are up to and they won't be telling us in the msm, for it to be allowed to go on for this long they must be onto something". Are you mainly here to tell us not to take this and that initiative - and to try and make us believe that, all along, Grange is a sincere, wholehearted search for the truth? ]

I agree the demand made is an excellant one but i cannot see enough people signing for it to ever get off the ground and normally im an optimistTony Bennett wrote:Yes - but the demand made by the petitioner is a good one and one which many people support, so I suggest that we try to swell the numbers.Sceptic wrote:You do realise that 10,000 signatures are required just for a response from the relevant government department and 100,000 for it to be debated by a backbench committee

Re: New Madeleine McCann Petition on Prime Minister’s website, 29 September 2014
Tony I dont know what you think ive comfirmed - I admire your tenacious determination but like you if you check ive been here a long time and I think ive realised for me personally the battle is over, no matter what any of us with doubts/unanswered questions do or say - nothing will change without substantial evidence that will stand up in a court of law or poor madeleine beth mccanns body is found . I religously read/watched the press everyday for the last 7 years in the hope the dogs findings have been backed up as I have doubted the Mccanns version of events since day 1 with Gerry reading from a prepared statement - but for this soldier I feel ive nothing else to giveTony Bennett wrote:You have just confirmed why I think you are hereSceptic wrote:You do realise that 10,000 signatures are required just for a response from the relevant government department

Well, in that case, leave us who are still fighting the battle for the truth about Madeleine to get on with the job, and don't constantly snipe and put down the efforts of those who have not given up.Sceptic wrote: ...I think I've realised for me personally the battle is over...
Of course, if you have a positive, not a negative contribution to make, then as far as I'm cocnerned you're very much welcome here.
++++++++++++++++
ETA: Just checked, now 305 signatures, 445th.
That may be partly because I made my second tweet about the petition on Twitter a little earlier. Rome wasn't built in a day, and unlike the Needhams and the McCanns, we don't have any of the mainstream media giving any support. It's hard work to batter down a brick wall. But it can be done - eventually

And can l just say if you do sign any petition DO NOT say so here just after, certain oxygen thieves could go straight into the petition and find out your real name.

Well said Margaret, I remember Nigel Moore a good few years ago, giving that advice and I have thought about it many a time.

Is there someone au fait with Facebook that can get these out to the 30k followers & 300k 'likers' of the lad who caused a stir when he posted a McCann two-liner on his page the other week? Can't remember his name at moment.
