TC says she wishes to say something. She states that Kate studied the PJ files and the process and said it was very different from what is in the book.

SO protests and ID even more.

The Judge overrules saying that it falls to the Court to compare the book and the investigation process and she does not need the intervention of the witness to do so.

Probably 'wondering' how the twins are coping , possibly all 'alone' in UK.

Possibly not having to be able to arrange childcare, at SUCH short 'notice' of having to return to Portugal.

Still, not to worry, they are 9 years old after all.

That's 4 times as 'old' as when mommy dearest left them all alone, in an unlocked apartment, abroad, to fend off 'nasty man/ woman child abductor' by themselves, whilst she went drinking at the tapas restaurant, out of her sight for an hour and a half!.

Not that I believe for one moment that, in the context of a school bus with a background of baying and screeching (similar to a debate in the House of Commons) any child would be able to hear a report on the radio.

By the way, I have read the book that was mentioned earlier about the family of the first Yorkshire Ripper victim. The father's name was Gerry McCann - rather unfortunate!

I am wondering if someone has told these two what to say , literally coached them as they realise sooner or later the pair and the ones that saved their skins for 7 years will soon face justice or they are genuinely thick as shite the pair of them not to realise that whenever they open their gobs they incriminate themselves . I think pinky is in the process of dropping them like a sack of shit to save his own hide , he collected 70 k from the time hes been employed by this pair its time to flee as hes desperate to get into politics after all he is a proven liar . I have yet to see an honest Politician , its time for change the winds of justice are blowing and the tides turning for the vile pair and their friends in high places . The "fund" money will be running out , the liar and their hired help will drop em , and justice will prevail big grin

I for one think that if the bus story did take place the driver himself would have gone into to the school and spoken to the head who them would surely have contacted K &G to inform them what had happened.

If the story did not happen, then this will play on their sons mind has he gets older- he will know that his parents were playing a game for money and used him (and his sister's tragedy) to do so. He will also know they are liars and combining that with the fact that they abandoned their kids to go out which regardless of what he has grown up being told - he will always wonder if it caused Ms disappearance, I think the conclusions he will come to will result in him doubting his parents version.

I truly believe that one day the MC's will loose one or both of the twins- only this time they will be the ones being abandoned

Btw, if I had read it right , I thought it was another odd remark by Gerry when he was asked to compare the anguish of the book and Madeleine's disappearance - imo, to say he couldn't compare them because they happened at different times is quite astonishing .

I thought their answers to all the questions about how they felt were really telling. They went all that way to Portugal to stand up and say why they have been so damaged by Amarals book and they couldn't even say how they felt, they couldn't even attempt to fake it.

The closest Kate got to an emotion was saying she felt 'defeated' ( a strange choice that hints at a battle of egos rather than a grieving mother!) , Gerry listed emotions, 'the hardest emotion is anguish, despair and of course anger'.....but they never say they felt them!

Isn't it a narcissistic trait to avoid talking about emotions and change the subject? Didn't someone say Kate did one of her trade mark lip curls and said that Sean 'got over it'? It's really like they don't understand the emotional side of things at all and all they do is distract from or dismiss it.

Dr. Isabel Duarte for the McCann couple and their children, the claimants

What follows is the recount of what happened yesterday at court, to the best of my knowledge and short handwritten notes.

The Judge at beginning of hearing sessions spoke and instructed the scribe about the request that had been made by Gonçalo Amaral’s previous lawyer so the defendant could be heard in court. That request was opposed by the McCann couple’s lawyer, Isabel Duarte, and had been previously denied by the Judge in 2013.

The McCann couple, who had also requested to be heard in court, saw their application being refused as well. Yet they pleaded against that decision to the Appeals court and their request was granted, therefore they were now authorized to be heard in court, which is what takes place after this “introductory” instruction by the lady Judge, Maria Emília de Melo e Castro.

The Judge then added that since Gonçalo Amaral’s former lawyer did not oppose to the ruling - which refused his request to be heard - a new appeal opposing the ruling could no longer be accepted, and therefore that decision had now become final.

The Judge continues instructing the scribe and states that the authors of the lawsuit - the McCann couple - have requested the court to solicit an official application to ATA [Autoridade Tributária Aduaneira] i.e. the Portuguese equivalent to the IRS, in order to obtain confidential fiscal information.

The Judge Maria Emília de Melo e Castro authorized and ordered for the dispatch to be prepared “since it is essential to know, within the scope of the case being analysed here at the court, what are the eventual earnings” of the defendant Gonçalo Amaral regarding the sales of the book ‘Maddie, A Verdade da Mentira’.

The Judge then added that the court dismissed the need to observe the confidentiality of that fiscal information in view of the fact that “the acquirement of that evidence” is crucial and ruled that the other defendant parties have 10 days to oppose the McCann’s lawyer request. That meant that the hearing session of yesterday's afternoon, where Isabel Duarte was supposed to make her final allegations for a period of three hours was adjourned sine die [without a definite date scheduled] and so was the hearing session of the 10th of July. Due to the judicial holidays it's very likely that the trial will only continue in or after September.

Earlier on this year, the only defendant party opposing the McCann’s fiscal request was the lawyer for the Guerra e Paz book publishers who argued that this new application would cause an unnecessary lengthening of the trial.

Follows Kate Healy and Gerry McCann declarations to court in strict compliance to Portuguese law. A declaration is a series of answers to questions put by the Judge, and of questions from the accusation or/and defendant lawyers.

The couple decided to ask to make a further statement at the end of each declaration, these statements will not be considered and will have no reflection on the trial outcome even though they were recorded by the scribe.

I wonder it they knew that before they spoke ?
All Gerry has now done is put the stuff about the dogs in the public domain - once again - but it has NO BEARING on the outcome of the trial. Which we knew anyway. The trial is about whether the book is defamatory, not how they feel about it.
And the school bus stuff is capable of being checked.

Yes and I particularly like the 'Mullered' in yellow type at the top.

Don't know about anybody else but my eyes are just drawn to that every time I look at it.

Agreed riskybusiness - in fact I would have thought that any bus driver would have known/been told soon enough that he/she had the Mccann kids regularly aboard and would not be playing the radio, local or national, knowing how litigious some people can be. And school drivers are normally regulars as they have to be CRB checked etc.

Whatever the facts they have now dragged their remaining children into it and sullied the one place (school and environs) where they may have had a chance of feeling protected and safe from the media, gossip etc thereby ruining any chance of a normal school life. That is unforgivable in my eyes - isn't their time at school now going to be even more difficult now this has been raised in such a high profile proceedings? What chance are they now going to have of a normal school life with the further threat of litigation hanging over anyone that says summat the Mcs don't like?

The smell of money and beating GA more important?

This would depend on whether they are using a normal single/double decker as used by the service buses for paying passengers, or whether they are using a local coach service. Both sorts of bus are used for school transport.

The normal service bus won't have a radio, a coach would.

I don't believe the bus story for a second. Unless Sean was sitting right at the front of the bus and the driver had the sound on very high, the engine noise, noise of children etc would make it impossible to hear.
