It isn't really the same as the 'McCann effect'.
This was a grown woman (aged 31 years old) who alleged she was abducted/raped in a car whilst her toddler was in her care - so the child was allegedly abducted with her.
It reminds me more of that case in Oxford (November 2016) where a 14 year old alleged an abduction/rape on her way to school and was found 2 miles away. That put fear in all parents and teenage girls in the vicinity for weeks (parents arranged walking-buses and car pools) but that also turned out to be a false.
