Support for Tony Bennett

Tony Bennett was the founder of the Madeleine Foundation in 2008. Over the past five years he has worked endlessly in an attempt to uncover the facts of what happened to 3 year Madeleine McCann and to bring those facts into the public domain. In doing so, Tony has only ever published factual and provable material which is sourced mainly from the original police files, and the world popular book, Averdade de Mentira, by Goncalo Amaral, the detective who brought the McCanns in for questioning. The McCanns were once successful in imposing a ban on Snr Amarals' book but this was later overturned by a higher court and is now available worldwide, apart from the United Kingdom.

In November 2009, and under the threat of libel action from the McCanns, Tony signed a High Court order which effectively banned his very popular book, "What really happened to Madeleine McCann? 60 Reasons to suggest that she was not abducted", and prohibited him from making and suggestion that the McCanns were in any way involved in Madeleines' disappearance.

Being cautious not to libel the McCanns, and refraining from personal comment, Tony had continued his campaign, adhering purely to factual material, relying on his basic human rights to freedom of expression and the provisions of Spiller V Joseph in relation to fair comment, backed up by true and factual material.

In an attempt to silence Tony, the McCanns' appointed, probably the UK's most expensive libel lawyers, who have seen fit to spend hours upon hours searching the internet including this very forum for possible libels in order to build a case against Tony.

On February 5th and 6th this year, that case was heard in the Royal court of Justice. The final verdict was heard today, unfortunately it was a verdict that states that Tony Bennett is fact in contempt of court and should be punished accordingly.

The undertaking required that Tony refrain from suggesting that the McCanns' were to be suspected of any wrongdoing with regards their daughters disappearance, but just to quote Lord Justice Tudgenhat here:

"Even factual material can be inferential"

The bottom line is that Tony has received a 3 month prison sentence, suspended for 1 year and is expected to pay the extertionate costs of the McCanns' libel lawyers, which could possibly be as much as £300,000. This could even mean that he will lose his home.

A support fund has been set up to assist Tony and his family. If you can help financially it would be very much appreciated, no matter how little. If you cannot assist with a donation, there are other ways that you can support, for instance, by helping to promote the cause, sending a message of support or offering advice. We would be very grateful for any assistance.

Every day I do as much as I can to raise awareness, so much so I get rolled eyes from certain family members when I say 'McCann'

Tomorrow I will be posting a link about Tony and the case on my Fb page. Sadly though, I'll be amazed if I get a 'like' or a 'comment' such is the level of apathy. If I posted a picture of a cat in a hat it'd get more response. But, I'll trudge on!
Have now given up on Twitter after my latest account seems to have been suspended (I made 14 days this time!!!! Respectively, they've been 5, 7, 10 and 14) - no explanation or reply from Tw*tter on any off those occasions. Sure I've broken no rules apart from maybe posting too near the truth???

Sadly unless TB applies to vary or lift the undertakings he is gagged for life not to repeat these facts.

He cant say Maddie died in the holiday apartment, her parents were involved and that they simulate abduction and lie about her disappearance, not even when the one-year suspension is spent.

Not unless the undertakings are varied or rescinded.

But the judge can and DID. It is in the written judgment, for all to see.

Every newspaper is now free to print what he said, and to analyse it in detail.
And then to go on explain that only TB is prevented from saying that "Maddie died in the holiday apartment, her parents were involved and that they simulate abduction and lie about her disappearance,"

Dr Amaral and every other professional who has looked in detail at the case comes to roughly the same conclusion, which is that "Maddie died in the holiday apartment, her parents were involved and that they simulated abduction and lied about her disappearance,"

The McCanns may possibly now begin to realise what they have unleashed.
Carter-Ruck now certainly do. But probably don't care. The next phase will not involve them . They don't "do" crime.
Hence the clear admission under oath that they had no evidence of abduction, and that even after three years of preparing the case they had no real idea about whether the story was true. Hence also the belated exculpatory remarks about not wanting to punish TB in any way.
They didn't want to get involved.

I just hope (stupidly probably) that the papers WILL print all that, not just cherry-picked-McCann-ass-licking bits such as 'deliberately flouting undertakings accusing Mr and Mrs McCann of harming their daughter' 'causing distress' 'his apology in Court was deemed insincere' but we will have to wait and see I guess...

Ah thanks russiandoll, after my FOURTH foray into Twitter was suspended, (WHY?!?) I missed that. I do actually think that Metodo 3 and the arrests could see it all start to unravel..... Bring it on!!!
