Robert Moore (voice over): Ignoring the abuse of a few protestors, Kate and Gerry McCann left the Portuguese courthouse tonight clutching posters of Madeleine. And clutching, as well, to the hope that a freash appeal might uncover new evidence that, even now, could help locate Madeleine.
Kate McCann: ...'please help us'. There's a little girl still missing, regardless of what Mr... Mr Amaral and his followers say - and they have their own motives - the little girl is still missing and we know that people care about children. Please help us.
RM: Kate, do you feel the focus can now revert to the search for Madeleine, once again?
KM: Well, I think if the just decision is made I think this will truly help our search for Madeleine and... and that's... as Gerry's said... that's why... that's why we've gone through with this. It's not easy going through with it but if it helps our little girl... if it helps to find Madeleine then we'll go through anything.
RM (voice over): This court action is focussed on stopping the former detective Goncalo Amaral from being able to publish his book on the case. The McCanns insist that his central claim - that Madeleine died in the apartment - has severely undermined the search effort.
Gerry McCann: The important thing is there is an innocent child missing and that search must go on. We would very much like the whole process reviewed; we'd like all the information held by all law enforcement to be put together and systematically reviewed and identified areas for further in... investigation.
RM (to camera): Gerry and Kate McCann must now wait one more week to hear this court's ruling but all the time they're emphasising this is not about pursuing a narrow legal victory but rather about re-energising the search for Madeleine.
RM (voice over): After nearly three years the chances of finding her may seem remote but the McCanns insist they must keep searching. Tonight it appears the Portuguese will only agree to reopen the case if significant new information emerges, which is why this last ditch appeal is so vital. Robert Moore, ITV News, Lisbon.
Just to remind Kate that we are all pretty much aware by now that 'there is a little girl missing' - have you forgetten, her name was Madeleine so have the decency to use her name once in a while. Kate and Gerry can trot out their mantras as much as they like but that large cloud of suspicion over their heads will not go away. Asnwer the questions, Kate, and explain the many inconsistencies in both yours and Gerry's statements and also those of your dispicable tapas chums. How absolutely disgraceful that The McCanns and mates continue to refuse to assist the police with the investigation yet berate the rest of us for not running around like headless chickens in their 'prentendy search' sick game.

Wow - I thought you and others had solved the case within a couple of days.
I can't see the point in the Mccanns answering questions when the case is already solved by the clever people on internet forums.

Please don't spoil a peaceful day.
I'm sure you can understand, if you really try, why people are so upset with the McCanns. Madeleine has been missing for nearly three years and the McCanns seem more interested in suing people than looking for their own daughter in the lawless hills of PDL where she is believed to be by their own investigators who are not out there scouring those very hills.
The McCanns have been to PDL a couple of times now and haven't even bothered having a quick look.

Hi
Would it not be possible for the Portuguese Police to be told that they must investigate again by maybe ECJ maybe?
I appreciate that some think Madeleine might already be dead and that there was no abductor etc etc etc but people are able to appeal to Europe if they are not dealt with fairly by the courts of their country so can't the McCanns or police from England push this further through European channels if they feel that it is unfair not to continue with an investigation to find what happened to Madeleine?
I am just thinking how I would feel if my child went missing, either just missing or abducted, and the police decided sorry can't do no more for her. There must surely be a process whereby if the police decision is unfair it can be appealed against.
Take care

I don't know Kololi, it's an awful thought though, that you're in someone else's hands in a situation like that.
I know that realistically every police force in every enquiry has to downscale at some point though.

But is it not the case that the McCanns have not asked the PJ to re-open the investigation, as is their rights to do so? Hopefully, it will be re-opened but it would have to be an officail police investigation, not some sort of review overlooked by the likes of Jim Gamble and Mark William Thomas.

Re: There is a Little Girl Missing
the verdict on thursday that permanently bans Amaral's book and disregards the statements given by the witnesses from the PJ will hopefully force the PJ to open the case and try to find out whay really happened to Maddie.
Dont tell me theres no evidence of an abductor. the fact is that the PJ didn't find any evidence, it doesnt mean the abductor didnt leave any.

I am sure they are told by Police to stay home and leave the searching to the professionals so as not to complicate matters (I am speaking generally now not just of the McCanns).I dont know what has happened to Madeleine any more than any of us do really and I agree and understand that the McCanns have done and said things we may not do and say but it really annoys me when they are trashed for such petty things like calling Madeleine a little girl.
Peace.

Oh come on. They're not just trashed for preferring the detached 'little girl' rather than her name but for many, many almost inhumane things done and said. They have gone so far from normal grieving parents that the radar has broken.
Peace.

No need for the apology but thank you :)
If they are trashed it's because they aren't petty to those who are upset and angry by the attitude of the Mccanns towards Madeleine. There are many instances of things said and done by them which are a lot more than merely petty.

and there is a big file of information at Portimao which has been growing since July 2008 and everything in it is stamped not relevant to the Madeleine McCann Investigation and filed without ever being looked at, things sent by other police forces which were deemed as credible and needing investigation, including photos, car registrations etc.
This file was only found out about because Ricardo Paiva let something slip in court.

The obvious way forward now is to get the case re-opened and have a full reconstruction without interference from the the McCanns' camp and UK press. This time, everyone asked to participate in a reconstruction should be made to do so and charges pressed against them should they fail to co-operate.

A reconstruction, three years afterwards?
They should have done it in those first weeks after she went missing.

All the relevant information is on file, including their own hand-written timeline so, even neary 3 years on, it would be helpful.

Re: There is a Little Girl Missing
Sorry Autumn I don't agree with you re the reconstruction.
If the relevant information is in the files, they can use actors.
There's a lot of time passed since then, people forgot things, people talked/read too much and it's confused their memory.
It's no use. It's too late. It won't help finding Madeleine.
Re-opening the case might help. But only if they're using a fresh, unbiased team to spit through everything.
And perhaps that won't help either if the sightings in Portugal and Spain for instance weren't properly checked at the time.

Re: There is a Little Girl Missing
Lynx, if the McCanns and their friends seriously believed Madeleine to be alive, they would have rushed back to PDL long ago to do a reconstruction. I hope that the pathetic excuses given by some of the Tapas 7 are included in the MF book - the public would be sickened by them.
