Scotland Yard this morning confirmed the arrest of a 47-year-old woman, understood to be Cheryl Carter, on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Detectives are understood to be investigating allegations that emails were destroyed at the company before evidence was handed over to the Metropolitan Police.
Now substitute "Detectives are understood to be investigating allegations that phone records were deleted before evidence was handed over to the Portuguese Police."
Uncomfortable ?

Phone companies would have a log of all incoming and outgoing calls surely if the Police should ask for them.
Problem is the call contents are likely not retrievable.
Having said that, unless NOTW recorded every call, it would just be a listing of callers without call contents.
I expect Cherry Carter would have been instructed to delete more than phone calls.
Every form of communications that is incriminating would have been erased. However, If MET have confiscated NOTW computers there are IT software and technology to retrieve even deleted records.

True. Deleted emails are stored in the hardware not visible to layperson but can be retrieved by purpose-developed software by Police agency.
Far as I know even deleted SMS can be retrieved with the correct software and expertise.
It's a shame the Portugal didnt confiscate the mccanns and friends PC and mobile.

I suppose that having the British Ambassador himself visiting as early as the 4th would put the PJ off a little. Amaral wanted their mobiles tapped, but - I think it's in his book - the judge who had to OK it refused to do so.
But certainly they should have had the mobiles impounded. They got new ones almost immediately from a friend of DP nr. PdL.
Then Clarrie brought some as well I believe.
But how did the PJ then find out that all calls had been deleted? They must have checked them quite soon after 3/5?
