A professional from Rothley gives his views on the McCanns

Tonight I had a call from a friend in Leicestershire.

He was consulting a professional man about a business matter.

The professional happened to see a copy of '60 Reasons' on his bookcase (bought about a year ago by the way) and asked my friend for his views.

He replied quite cautiously, saying he thought the booklet was very interesting, made a lot of sense etc.

The professional then spoke in rather hushed tones and made the following comments - I repeat them verbatim as told to me just two hours ago:

"I actually live in Rothley, in fact I live in the very next street to the McCanns. I know them..."

"That Kate McCann is cold and callous..."

"I thought from Day One that the McCanns had something to do with it, and so does most of the village..."

"It's a sensitive subject in the village, mostly it's not discussed..."

That's about it.

By the way we in The Madeleine Foundation have spoken to people from the village before who do not agree with the McCanns' version of events - and they too have spoken of a divided village which doesn't want to talk about what really happened to Madeleine McCann.

Makes you wonder if the whole village has been Carter-Rucked. The residents of Rothley have more right than most to feel angry with the McCanns - afterall, it was their children who kindly donated the proceeds from the sale of cakes they had baked and treasured toys to the Fund.
They may not discuss the case on the streets but I think it a fair bet that many of them log on to the forums to find out about facts that have been kept hidden from them in the UK papers.
The truth will out in the end.....it usually does.

They must have sensed people figure pointing behind their back hence their relentless persue of anyone who dares contradict them.

I dont understand why Tony saw it fit to post that 'a professional' ...bla bla...what's this persons profession got to do with his comment about those who live in Rothley? So if you a professional, no matter what profession you practice, and you have an opinion on the McCanns.....in Tony's eyes, it's credible.

I think the point is someone living next street to mccanns gave his/her view of the case...the person happens to professional is secondary.
Even if that comment was made by the milkman or binman it would equally be as valid and credible.

The point that came across was what people in mccanns' home corner thought of them.

My son is a final year medic at Liecester and although he has not been taught by Gerry, some of his friends have. He tells me that Gerry is very well thought of at the hospital anda

Brings to mind the case of 'The Lady in the Lake' case - a well-respected headmaster was convicted of murdering and dumping her body in Coniston Lake. 25 years later, divers discovered her body - even after so many years, forensics were able to link the man to this crime. To those that knew him such as pupils, teachers, friends (including members of my family) he was regarded as quiet, pleasant and personable. To the day of his death (he recently hanged himself in prison) many refused to believe him guilty because, in their minds, he was simply incapable of carrying out the brutal murder of which he was convicted.

Ooooooh I am so sorry to be the one to say this and I promise I will go and stand in the naughty corner for 30 mins after I have finished. Whether anybody believes me or not is neither here nor there but I am actually saying it with a sincere head on and not in a spiteful way at all.

Here goes.....

Mr Bennett you don't think you are pushing your luck repeating what this professional from Rothley said on here do you?? Wouldn't it be better to keep your head down for a bit in view of the other gentleman and his book?

My post was giving another example of a case where a respectable professional, highly thought of by many of those who thought they knew him, had committed a serious crime.
