McCanns welcome Yard's case review

Kate and Gerry McCann, from Leicestershire, have dismissed fierce criticism of Scotland Yard's intervention in the search for their missing daughter Madeleine.

They said Prime Minister David Cameron gave assurances that all funds for the case review would come from central Government and would not eat into the force's budget.
In their first reaction to the development, they said they would like to thank the Conservative leader for his intervention.
Mr McCann, of Rothley, said it would go a long way to addressing one of their key complaints about the inaction on the part of UK police.
"We welcome their involvement," he said.
"We have been calling for a transparent, independent review. We have yet to see exactly the details of their involvement and what it will entail and I hope this does improve communication between the Home Office and ourselves, which obviously we have complained about, including yesterday."
Speaking in Dublin, he added: "I'm sure it will go a long way to (addressing) one of our key disgruntlements, which was that British police had lots and lots of information and it was just sitting there and no one was looking at it.
"The Met has excellent expertise in reviewing major crimes, so we are very pleased and we would like to thank David Cameron for his intervention

"We welcome their involvement," he said.

The effing arrogance, why am I still amazed about that with these sociopaths. he makes it sounds like the Mets are going to work with or for the McCanns. Now I have no doubt that is what they want: our conning couple feeding the Met team more and more outlandish sightings. What a gall.

McCanns welcome Yard's case review Empty Patience!

Post by newbie 19.05.11 18:59

Let's all have patience. Four years is not very long in a case like this. Just this week we heard that two men are to be tried for the murder of Stephen Lawrence 18 years ago, and today Malcolm Webster was convicted in Glasgow of the murder of his first wife in a faked car crash (familiar?) in 1994 and the attempted murder of his second wife in 1999. Forensic science advances all the time and samples that today aren't conclusive may well turn out to be highly significant in the future when techniques have improved. The British police value their independence and will keep their powder dry if they have to until the time is right. The Portuguese police are doing exactly the same thing by standing back and not rushing into lesser charges, so that they don't block any avenues that may open to them in the future. And finally, public opinion has taken a huge swing away from the McCanns this last week after the publication of the book - just look at any unmoderated message board such as Yahoo. Not only are more people than ever questioning the authorised version, but AT LAST people are beginning to wonder why anyone who deviates from the approved story is instantly vilified as a hater or a nutter and to ask whether this might be down to clever PR - I've seen this point made several times this week, having never seen it before.

There is plenty of time. Constant dripping wears away stones, and the drip of public opinion is getting stronger. Politicians live and die by public opinion and the time will come when they have to listen to what the people are saying, if enough of them say it. Each time someone says 'I never knew that about the dogs' or 'Now I've heard what you say I am beginning to wonder', it's another little drip on that rock face. Plenty of time, folks. Four years is nothing.

McCanns welcome Yard's case review Empty Re: McCanns welcome Yard's case review

Several things I truly believe:

*the police don't give up even if it looks that way to outsiders
*political climates change with time
*you can't treat a foreign country as fools and get away with it
*nobody can keep up a lie forever
*there is always a weak link in the chain
*you should be very careful who you hurt when you're up, because you'll meet them again when you're on the way down
*the truth **always** comes out eventually, usually when we're least expecting it
*a conviction and a prison sentence is not necessarily the worst punishment a liar and hypocrite can have - exposure and ridicule can be much worse and there is no time limit on those.

As long as people keep talking about this case, the people with something to hide in it can't relax. And the more people who talk about it the better. Someone should perhaps have told the McCanns that before last week's circus.
