There has always been a South African element. Look back at the ghastly Stephen Birch and then remember Jim Gamble, who for some reason known only to himself used Table Mountain on his web presence.

Liz, your comment brought a sincere smile. Here in South Africa, our crime rate is one of the highest in the world. One would think we have enough to keep us busy, but the McCann case is just 'something else' and any 'unsolved case', is a private investigator's nightmare. Who knows, with the seemingly remarkable effort the FD has placed on the table, we might soon be pleasantly surprised.

Can anyone in SA confirm when Danie Krugel will be returning to PDL?

I gather his Machine is now Patented where as before it was not?

In 2014 an independent panel of scientists performed a meticulous series of “double-blind” tests on one of Danie Krügel’s prototypes. If I have got this right, Madeleine is buried on a hill. Why choose an elevated position to dig a grave, bring a body to, and inter. Low ground would ne preferable, surely?

I was reading the Black Rock thread earlier today and noticed that too regarding Verdi.

It's not a location I would choose, but maybe the F.D.'s websites will throw some light on why it was selected, if indeed it was.

Ben did a lot of research, his death was very sad. RIP.

I remember watching the documentary 'Fred and Rose West: Reopened' a few years ago with Colin Sutton heading the investigation...and he used one of these ground-penetrating machines and found 2 more bodies underneath the patio (actually, it might have been under the garage floor)...but, anyway, he used one of these machines.

A seven-month investigation led by former Scotland Yard Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton discovered two new potential graves using ground penetrating radar machines and cadaver dogs.

It's interesting reading some of the old threads.  I've been reading a few more this afternoon -  the rock, hills and running.  One poster wrote, ten years ago, that Kate was emotionally attached to the rocks.

Bernt's belief is that Gerry's 'sudden impulse' was to bury Maddie at sea - but Kate, being Catholic, said Nope, she must have a grave and memorial.

It's easy to see who's going to be blamed if/when this all kicks off. Gerry has more to lose now than Kate apparently does.

Evidence shows that burying in the ocean was the intention, the water level is low (see M. Harrison), the ocean would have brought it back, conveniently washed, and funerals could have occurred. But Smithman met 9 individuals..

Anne, do you believe Smithman was Gerry?

I don't know where the F.D. thinks the 'sudden impulse' took place, in the unfolding of events, but I think that it was early on - to cover up Madeleine's death.
