Madeleine McCann: 15th Anniversary
With news spread across the press of a German felon currently in custody for a crime totally unrelated to abduction and/or murder - for such is the implication, the story of the enigmatic Christian Brueckner looks to haunt cyberspace indefinitely.
I said back five years ago, at the 10th anniversary of Madeleine's untimely fate, the case was nearing it's end in terms of officialdom. Since then, the gutter press have continued their quest for justice in he name of .... no not Madeleine McCann but strangely Gerry and Kate McCann, the prime suspects who have never managed to absolve themselves through the eyes of the law.
Vapid stories calling on dubious witnesses to give false statements so many years down the line and a whole host of documentaries, calling on the very people who appear to be embroiled in the scandalous deception to cover-up the truth about Madeleine's disappearance.
The broad facts of the case along with the evidence harvested during the original 'official' Portuguese police investigation, documented in the public domain and widely recognized across the world, have been conveniently ignored by the tabloid press from the very beginning, now they appear to be clutching at straws in their desperation to divert from the truth.
The memory of little Madeleine McCann has been allowed to disappear just as her little person was allowed to disappear back in late April/early May 2007. The case has never been about Madeleine herself, from the very beginning - the first newsflash early 4th May 2007 it has always been about Gerry and Kate McCann.
That in itself is a gross injustice!
So here we are, 15 years later, still trying to piece it all together, to make some sense of that important week so clouded in mystery .... 28th April 2007/3rd May 2007 and all subsequent events over the years, seemingly designed to deceive public perception. Not difficult I admit, a classic case of s/he who shouts loudest and has the most captive audience! For the most part the twitterers and facebooketeers who frankly do more harm than good. Still, they work perfectly with the troll trackers so I guess they achieve their objective.
Meanwhile, here on CMOMM we quietly continue our quest for justice in the name of MADELEINE MCCANN !!!
If members have anything to contribute to the 15th anniversary, or any comments relating to the event, please do so here on this thread

Madeleine McCann’s parents to hold prayer service marking 15 years since her disappearance
Kate and Gerry McCann expected to join relatives, friends and supporters for an informal gathering in Leicestershire on May 3

The parents of Madeleine McCann are to hold a prayer service to mark 15 years since their daughter's disappearance.
Kate and Gerry McCann are expected to join relatives, friends and supporters for an informal gathering in Rothley, Leicestershire, on May 3.
The couple had welcomed the decision by Portuguese police to identify an "arguido", or suspect, in the case but said they remained hopeful that their daughter, who vanished on the Algarve when she was three, was still alive.
Two years ago, Christian Brueckner, a convicted paedophile and rapist, was named by German police as the person "responsible" for Madeleine's kidnap and presumed murder.
He was questioned for the first time last week at Oldenburg prison, where he is serving a sentence for raping an American tourist, but is understood to have used his right to remain silent.
Brueckner, 44, who has been linked to four other child murders across Europe since 1996, could be summoned to Portugal for questioning.
However, the makers of an American documentary due to be shown on the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance claim he has insisted he has an alibi for the night she disappeared.
Analysis of his phone records suggest he was 200 metres away from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz at the time she vanished in May 2007.
But in letters to the makers of Madeleine McCann: Prime Suspect, Brueckner is said to claim he was nowhere near the apartment that night. The producers of the US network AMC Crime show say the phone serves a vast area and he could have been 22 miles away.

Madeleine McCann’s parents to hold prayer service marking 15 years since her disappearance
Does anyone know what this "means".
Is it a Requiem, a service of Remembrance of the dead ?
Is it a prayer for her safe return ? – which I suspect we have realised after 15 years and the intervention of the Pope - is unlikely to "work" in any conventional causative sense.
Is it to raise 'awareness' , as so many of the early stunts were labelled ?
Is it to raise money . . ?
Qui Bono ?
Who benefits ?

Re: Madeleine McCann: 15th Anniversary
I wonder if they would have held a 15 year 'service', if not for the publicity of Bruckner's non-existent involvement.

This year we mark fifteen years since we last saw Madeleine. It feels no harder than any other but no easier either. It’s a very long time.
Many people talk about the need for ‘closure’. It’s always felt a strange term. Regardless of outcome, Madeleine will always be our daughter and a truly horrific crime has been committed. These things will remain. It is true though that uncertainty creates weakness; knowledge and certainty give strength, and for this reason our need for answers, for the truth, is essential. We are grateful for the ongoing work and commitment of the UK, Portuguese and German authorities as it is this combined police effort which will yield results and bring us those answers.
As always, we would like to thank all of our supporters for their continued good wishes and support. It is a huge comfort to know that regardless of time passed, Madeleine is still in people’s hearts and minds. Thank you.

How dare they sully the name of Pooh bear and piglet with their continued deception.
Yet you still hope to be re-united?
Ms Healy knows - she was there .

Re: Madeleine McCann: 15th Anniversary
And today people are "marking" 15 years and four days since Madeleine was last seen alive.
Re: Madeleine McCann: 15th Anniversary
That precise time line will be ignored by their supporters, of course.

Madeleine McCann disappearance: Other kids under 10 who’ve gone missing since
Coverage of the Madeleine McCann case was hugely significant and the search for her has cost millions, but Maddie isn't the only young British child to still be missing
ByBenjamin LynchTrends Writer

Madeleine McCann has now been missing for 15 years after she is believed to have been snatched from her bed in Praia da Luz, Portugal aged 3.
Though believed to be dead by German authorities, Maddie would now be approaching her 19th birthday later this month.
Her case became famous all over the world and is still widely covered in the media, while officers continue to investigate her disappearance. Operation Grange, the investigation into her disappearance, has received millions worth of funding but will be wound up later this year.
Parents Kate and Gerry said in 2021: "We hang on to the hope, however small, that we will see Madeleine again. As we have said repeatedly, we need to know what has happened to our lovely daughter, no matter what. We are very grateful to the police for their continued efforts."
Kate and Gerry are not the only parents to be clinging to the hope of seeing their children again. A number of children under 10 have been reported missing in the years since.
The full story of what happened to Madeleine McCann is not currently known, though a German man known as Christian Brueckner is reportedly expected to be charged later this year.
She was taken on May 3, 2007, from a rented apartment in the resort of Praia da Luz in the Algarve, Portugal.
Also sleeping in the room were her two siblings but they were not taken, while parents Kate and Gerry dined at a tapas bar with friends a short distance away.
Maddie's disappearance was alerted to at around 10pm that evening, but she has never been since, despite reported 'sightings'.
Christian Brueckner is a convicted paedophile and rapist currently serving time inside in Germany for the rape of a pensioner. He was recently made an 'arguido' (a person of interest) in the case by Portuguese authorities.
Phone records place him in the area on the night of Maddie's disappearance. Brueckner has always denied any involvement with her disappearance.
Who are the UK's missing children?

The UK Missing Persons Unit recorded in 2020 that 1,514 children are long-term missing, meaning they have not been seen for over 28 days. A number of children missing since May 3, 2007, are listed on the Missing People website.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said: "On the UK Missing Persons Unit database, there are 395 records of children who have been reported as missing since 2007, who were under the age of 10 years old at the time of the missing incident, that are still open. [So] they are still believed to be missing persons."
One of which is young girl Aamina Khan, a six-year-old who went missing in Croydon in 2011. She was abducted by her mother, not her primary carer due to a custody battle, and taken to Pakistan in the August of that year.
Speaking at a Family Division of the High Court in London in 2013, Deputy High Court Judge Clive Heaton said: "The abduction of children is a very serious matter and the courts should and do pursue, locate and return such children to their rightful carers."
Aamina's father remembered of his daughter: "She loved the parties, going disco and parties with her friends and going to the theatre."
In Ayshire, a shadow is still cast over the town of Irvine after the disappearance of two-year-old Holly Bringan. She went missing in 2009 with her mother Selena Dingwal.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
At the time of her disappearance, it was suspected that her mother was planning to create a new life for themselves.
Superintendent Jim Coubrough said: "Salena has a knowledge of finances and technology, and has managed to create another life for herself — which in this day and age is quite unusual."
Holly is Scotland's youngest ever missing person.
The NCA said: "There are in fact very few missing children cases involving a child under the age of 10. The focal point of any investigation is safeguarding. Most children under the age of 10 years that aren’t victims of Parental Child Abduction, who aren’t still with their families having left homes due to the immigration process, are thankfully found, in relatively short time."
Other missing people include:
Sajjid Al-Saedi Aqueel Abdulwahid - missing since 2015, aged 7. Missing people said: "Sajjid is believed to be missing with his sister, Aaya and brother Ahmed. They were last seen in a boat that capsized in the Aegean Sea."
Heydari Nastaran - missing since 2016, aged 7. She went missing in the Greek territorial waters trying to cross from Turkey to Greece, but her siblings believe she may have been rescued.

Heartbreaking night McCann's had plane on standby thinking Maddie had been found
Madeleine McCann vanished from a holiday home in Portugal in May 2007 while her parents were eating with friends at a nearby tapas restaurant. She would now be aged 17, nearly 18

The parents of Madeleine McCann thought their missing daughter may have been found twice in 10 years - and were so hopeful that a plane was put on standby to collect her.
The couple is preparing to remember their daughter at a prayer service today - to mark the 15th anniversary of her disappearance.
Kate and Gerry are expected to join family and friends in their home village of Rothley, Leics - amid the hope Maddie is still alive.
It comes as jailed German sex offender Christian Brueckner, 44, has been made an "arguido", or official suspect, by Portuguese police.
Previously, their spokesman told how amid the thousands of tip-offs they received, two led him to believe Maddie would be returned home - from either Seville or Morocco.
Media spokesman Clarence Mitchell, who used to work for the BBC, started working with the family to support them just weeks after Maddie disappeared.
Mitchell told The Telegraph : "Shortly after I arrived, I started to get phone calls, always at three o’clock in the morning, always the same ghostly man’s voice, repeatedly naming a farm where she was being hidden."
"The British police recorded the calls and it turned out there was indeed a farm, fitting his description exactly, near Seville, over the border in Spain.
"As it was raided, and turned out to look exactly as he had painted it in those calls, I really felt we were on to something.

"But she wasn’t there, and those tip-offs – like so many others that we received from hoaxers, ransom seekers, conmen and psychics – were never explained."
A second lead came at the end of 2007 after the family had returned home to Leicestershire when Spanish private investigators a blonde-haired girl who spoke English in a village in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Mitchell said: "All the information coming back to us suggested heavily that it could be Madeleine, so much so that an aircraft was put on standby, with its engines running, waiting to fly to pick her up.
"Kate and Gerry sat tight. They had learned by that stage to be sceptical, not to give in to natural hope only for it to be dashed. They preferred to wait until the Moroccan authorities had checked it out. And when they did, it became clear she was not Madeleine"
It has been 15 years since three-year-old Maddie vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents were dining nearby with friends.
Brueckner, 45, a convicted paedophile who lived near the resort, was named as a suspect in June 2020.
Brueckner was made an official suspect, or “arguido”, last month by Portuguese police still investigating Madeleine’s disappearance.

Mitchell said: "All the information coming back to us suggested heavily that it could be Madeleine, so much so that an aircraft was put on standby, with its engines running, waiting to fly to pick her up.
That's not how it works Mr Mitchell - quit the melodramatics. Or at least spare us.

Re: Madeleine McCann: 15th Anniversary
'Fibres from Madeleine McCann's pyjamas were found in prime suspect Christian Brueckner's campervan': Bombshell claim as detective leading hunt appears on Portuguese TV 15 years after the toddler vanished
The revelation comes exactly 15 years to the day since three-year-old Madeleine McCann vanished
German prosecutor said he could not deny investigators had found new evidence in the van of prime suspect
Christian Brueckner, 45, is a convicted rapist and paedophile who is already behind bars in Germany
Investigators may have found new evidence in the back of his campervan which he used in Portugal
By Nick Pisa In The Algarve and David Averre For Mailonline
Published: 22:33, 3 May 2022 | Updated: 01:22, 4 May 2022
German investigators have found 'evidence' of missing Madeleine McCann in the van of prime suspect Christian Brueckner it was sensationally claimed tonight - 15 years to the day Maddie disappeared in Portugal.
The evidence in question is thought to be 'telltale' fibres from the three-year-old's pyjamas.
Speaking on Portuguese TV, prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters again reiterated he believed the toddler was dead and insisted Brueckner, 45, was the man responsible.
Mr Wolters was interviewed on a show called Sabado, in an hour long programme to mark the 15th anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance from her parents holiday apartment at Praia da Luz on Portugal's Algarve coast.
When asked by host Sandra Felgueiras whether it was 'true that you have found something of Madeleine McCann in Christian Brueckner's van' in connection to the fibres, Mr Wolters replied: 'I'm not going to comment on the details of the investigation.'
But when pressed by the interviewer: 'But you can't deny it?' Mr Wolters responded: 'I don't want to deny it.'
Convicted rapist and paedophile Brueckner was named by German prosecutors as prime suspect in the case two years ago with investigators saying they had 'concrete evidence' she was dead.
But since then there has been little sign of him being charged, prompting speculation there is not enough evidence of his involvement in her disappearance and earlier this week it emerged Brueckner claims to have an alibi the night she vanished.
He has insisted he was with an 18-year-old German woman, having sex in his camper van miles away from where Madeleine vanished from and he has given full details to a US documentary.
When he was named in June 2020 police asked for information in the distinctive yellow and white T3 campervan and DNA experts have been examining it ever since.
Mr Wolters added cryptically: 'The investigation is still going on and we have found some new facts, some new evidence, not forensic evidence but evidence.'
He then repeated his 2020 claim that Brueckner was responsible for her murder and said: 'We are sure that he killed Madeleine McCann. I can't give you any more details for the moment.'
In her report Sandra highlighted how the fact that Mr Wolters refused to deny that something of Madeleine's had been found was proof of his guilt.
Mr Wolters also revealed how he had not been in touch with the McCanns and said: 'There is no relationship between the McCanns and me. I have never spoken with them and I have never written to them. There is no relationship.'
He also highlighted how the fact that Portuguese police had made Brueckner an 'arguido' or suspect in the case showed the German investigation was 'going the right way'.
Brueckner is currently serving seven years for the rape of a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005, two years before Madeleine was snatched and he is in Germany's Oldenburg jail.
Prosecutors are investigating him over the rape of a Irish tour guide Hazel Behan in the Algarve as well as a sexual assault in Praia da Luz on a ten-year-old German girl a month before Madeleine disappeared.
He is also being probed over an indecent exposure in a children's playground in the Algarve and last month MailOnline revealed he was also being investigated over two further rapes.

Re: Madeleine McCann: 15th Anniversary
How dare they twist nothing into something
The headline reads evidence of Madeleine McCann's pyjamas traced in a camper van allegedly owned by Christian Brueckner. The photograph included in the report shows the rundown camper van - not the palatial camper previously said used to conceal drugs and abducted children !!!
The report then morphs into nothingness - just like the nothingness we have witnessed over the past two years
We've got evidence but we're not telling you . How juvenile.
Don't they know that the core of this entire saga is a missing child, a three year old almost certainly no longer of this world .... Madeleine McCann?
Don't they care?

Sometimes you have to get knocked down... to stand up taller than you ever were': Madeleine McCann's mother Kate reads poignant poem as she and husband Gerry attend prayer service marking 15 years since their daughter vanished
Madeleine McCann's parents marked the 15th anniversary of the disappearance

Madeleine McCann's parents have joined friends and well wishers to remember their daughter on the painful 15th anniversary of her disappearance - as a prime suspect faces being charged.
Kate and Gerry McCann were warmly welcomed by their community during a poignant prayer service in their home village of Rothley, Leicestershire.
The couple, who hold on to hope that Madeleine - who would now be aged nearly 19 - is still alive, appeared overwhelmed by the support as they joined in prayers and readings to mark the occasion.
The annual outdoor event has been cancelled over the past two years because of Covid restrictions.
Kate and Gerry said tonight: 'This year we mark fifteen years since we last saw Madeleine. It feels no harder than any other but no easier either. It's a very long time.'
Madeleine McCann's parents, Kate and Gerry, mark the 15th anniversary of their daughter's disappearance from Portugal at a vigil in their home village of Rothley
In 2019 Kate turned up alone with her twins Sean and Amelie - now aged 17 - as her heart doctor husband was away in Italy at an important medical conference.
Former surgery GP turned hospital medical worker Kate, 54, had dashed from work to join Gerry at the war memorial for the welcomed event.
Kate, wearing black jeans, cornflower blue V-neck sweater and trainers, fought back tears as children lit candles for Madeleine and other lost youngsters.
Neither parent addressed the 100-strong crowd but Kate, wearing reading glasses, read a poem, saying: 'Survival can be summed up three words: Never give up.
'That's the heart of it really, just keep trying.
'Sometimes you have to get knocked down, lower than you have ever been, to stand up taller than you ever were.
'Perseverance is stubbornness.'
The McCanns joined family, friends and villagers for an informal evening service after German rapist Christian Brueckner was recently made an official suspect over Madeleine's abduction and presumed murder.
They had walked the near mile, separately, from their home.
A family source said: 'Kate and Gerry enjoy going to the service for a time of prayer and quiet reflection. They always appreciate the support of the public.'
They met in the chilly night air at Cross Green on the milestone anniversary - where a candle for the world's most famous missing child still burns around the clock.
During the service, local children went up to light candles to remember Madeleine, or a special person of their choice.
One little girl tripped and stumbled on the ground as she ran back to her mother, and a concerned Kate joined others calling 'Whoops!' then smiled as the child picked herself up unscathed.
Renowned and respected cardiologist Gerry, 53, casually dressed in navy trousers, salmon-pink T-shirt and grey-blue sweater, later individually thanked well wishers for attending the half-hour gathering.
Vicar of the local parish church, The Rev. Rob Gladstone, who led the prayers, opened the service by telling the crowd: 'Once again after a gap of two years we're able to come together again here at Cross Green to remember Madeleine, to show solidarity to Kate and Gerry, Sean and Amelie.
'Lord we thank you for sustaining Gerry and Kate through these painful years.
'Keep us their hope of finding Madeleine, of discovering the truth of her disappearance... real hope is hard won.'
During the gathering, touching messages of support were read out by children.
Iconic pictures of a young Madeleine were tied to the railing around the war memorial and a vase of fresh yellow flowers was placed on the ground.
The Madeleine candle burned brightly as Rev Gladstone said: 'We hope the light here in Rothley dispels the darkness.'
At times Kate and Gerry appeared tearful, at other times they smiled.
Kate, who appeared to be limping, was hugged by friends and supporters.
Three-year-old Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal's Praia da Luz in May 2007.
She was discovered missing from her bed in the seaside complex by her horrified mum shortly after 10pm. She had been left alone her younger siblings while her parents were dining in a nearby tapas restaurant with their seven pals.
Madeleine's great uncle, retired head teacher Brian Kennedy, 83, who lives in the same village and has attended all 13 anniversary gatherings with his wife Janet, said: 'Kate and Gerry feel heartened that something positive seems to be happening with the investigation.
'They are being kept updated by the Met Police but they have no details to share now.
'They have never lost hope even after all these years, and in juts over a week's time Madeleine would be 19.
'If you had told our family 15 years it would go on for so long without a resolution we would have thought that was very unlikely.'
He had earlier read a poem 'The Beacon' previously written for Kate and Gerry by former Poet Laureate Simon Armitage.
Madeleine's parents told of their 'need for answers' in a public posting on the eve of the latest anniversary which they say is 'a very long time.'
In a heartfelt posting on Monday on the Find Maddie and Official Campaign websites, the McCanns wrote: 'Many people talk about the need for ''closure''. It's always felt a strange term.
'Regardless of outcome, Madeleine will always be our daughter and a truly horrific crime has been committed. These things will remain.
'It is true though that uncertainty creates weakness; knowledge and certainty give strength, and for this reason our need for answers, for the truth, is essential.'
The couple praised three nations' police forces for their continued work in trying to crack the painstaking case.
They posted: 'We are grateful for the ongoing work and commitment of the UK, Portuguese and German authorities as it is this combined police effort which will yield results and bring us those answers.'
They added: 'As always, we would like to thank all of our supporters for their continued good wishes and support.
'It is a huge comfort to know that regardless of time passed, Madeleine is still in people's hearts and minds. Thank you. Kate and Gerry.'
Their post is accompanied by a touching phrase from Winnie the Pooh author AA Milne, with a picture of Pooh bear and Piglet, saying: 'But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you.'
Caged 44-year-old sex fiend Christian Brueckner was declared an official suspect by Portuguese police two weeks ago.
Two years ago he was sensationally named by German officers as the person 'responsible' for Madeleine's kidnap and feared murder.
He was quizzed for the first time last week at Oldenburg jail, where he is serving a sentence for rape, but is understood to have used his right to remain silent.
Brueckner could now be summoned to Portugal for questioning and even be charged.

Kate McCann's necklace: A poignant tribute to missing Madeleine and her twin siblings

The three rings are believed to symbolise Maddie and the couple's two other children
Kate McCann wore a necklace with three rings - a nod to her three children including missing Madeleine.
Each year on her birthday, the family reportedly leave presents and cards in her bedroom, which is understood to remain as a shrine to her and unchanged since she was snatched 15 years ago.
Maddie's 17-year-old twin siblings Sean and Amelie still live at home with their parents.
Sean and Amelie attend a Catholic secondary school in Leicestershire, which famously held a place for their big sister in the hope that one day they would welcome her as a pupil.
If still alive, Maddie would be turning 19 on May 13.
