Madeleine McCann: Home Office approve £300,000 to keep investigation going
Met Police's Operation Grange to find missing Madeleine, who vanished in Praia da Luz on May 3 2007, has cost £11.75m

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The Home Office have approved £300,000 for Scotland Yard to fund the investigation into missing Madeleine McCann for another year.
To-date the Met Police probe into her disappearance, called Operation Grange, has cost £11.75m, according to the Home Office.
The funding means Operation Grange will continue at least until March 31 2020.
Last month, Metropolitan Police had asked for more money to pursue "active lines of inquiries".
Madeleine McCann, then aged three, disappeared on the evening of May 3 2007 while she was on holiday with her parents in Praia da Luz in the Algarve region of Portugal.

After a Portuguese inquiry into her disappearance foundered, Scotland Yard opened its own investigation, Operation Grange, in 2013.
Explaining the decision, the Home Office said: "All applications for Special Grant funding are considered carefully on their individual merits, however, decisions are made in batches to allow us to better consider the impact on the overall policing budget."

They added: "When considering special grants applications, the Home Office does not take a view on whether an investigation should continue, which would be an operational matter for the police."
An eight-part documentary series on Netflix called The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann was released in March, thrusting the case back into the public limelight.

Hi Jill Havern, Just another pisstake in this long running charade, to "All Police Officers" left on Operation Grange, ask yourselves as to what the  Crime Trained Dogs, Eddie, Keela, alerted Martin Grime to?

Since 3 May 2007 after being reported missing by her parents, Kate, Gerry, Madeleine has officially "Not been Seen" by anyone who can 100% state, that all is well with her?

The "Cover Up" continues by all "Official Figures" implicated in this nefarious deception?

Just like the "unsolved Murder" of a Private Investigator found with an Axe embedded in his Skull, the "Guilty" person's have remained "Free", after the woeful investigation by Metropolitan Police Service 32 yrs ago?

The Metropolitan Police Service has now asked for an Extension to ascertain that they have followed "Protocol" into this unsolved Murder, with links to a certain News Paper Owner, Rupert Murdoch and clan, another Cover Up by the Establishment?

Comical situation, "The Blind, Leading the Blind", Do you know where we are going, are we there yet!

Madeleine McCann investigation granted funding for another year

Martin Evans,  CRIME CORRESPONDENT- The Telegraph

5 June 2019 • 6:32pm

Scotland Yard detectives have been granted an extra £300,000 to continue the hunt for missing Madeleine McCann for another year, the Home Office has indicated.
The Metropolitan Police asked for the extra funding in order to explore a number of outstanding leads identified during its Operation Grange investigation.
The extra funding is expected to allow the investigation to continue for at least another 12 months.
Madeleine was just short of her fourth birthday when she vanished from her parents' apartment in the resort of Praia da Luz during a family holiday to the Algarve in May 2007.

The initial Portuguese investigation failed to make any headway and at one point even wrongly declared her parents, Kate and Gerry "arguidoes", or persons of interest.
Scotland Yard launched its own investigation into Madeleine's disappearance in 2011 and initially had 29 full time officers working on the case.
The investigation has so far cost in excess of £11 million, but despite the fact it has been scaled down to just a handful of officers, detectives remain committed to following up any remaining leads.
During the investigation police said they had looked at more than 60 persons of interest and had made inquiries about the whereabouts of 650 sex offenders.

It was recently reported that police in Portugal had identified a potential new suspect, but Scotland Yard has refused to comment.
Confirming the extra funding, a Home Office spokesman said: "All applications for Special Grant funding are considered carefully on their individual merits, however, decisions are made in batches to allow us to better consider the impact on the overall policing budget.
"Due to this, the next round of Special Grant funding will not be decided until October, however we have written to Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime in the meantime with assurance that the Metropolitan Police Service will receive a similar level of funding for Operation Grange for 2019/20 as it did for the previous year."

Home Office explains why it's given another £300k to Madeleine McCann hunt
It will add to the £11.7m of taxpayers money spent on the UK police investigation in the past six years

The Home Office has agreed to keep funding the hunt for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]for another year.
An application had been made by the Metropolitan Police Service for a further £300,000 to keep the investigation going until the end of March 2020.
Today the Home Office confirmed the investigation would get "similar" funding to last financial year, when it got £300,000.
The British police investigation, called Operation Grange, has cost £11.75 million since it began in 2013.

In a blog post on its website, the Home Office said: "We have received a request from the MPS to extend funding for Operation Grange until 31 March 2020.
"Funding for the investigation is provided by the Home Office through special grant funding which is usually available to police forces when they face significant or exceptional costs.
"All applications for special grant funding are considered carefully on their individual merits, however, decisions are made in batches to allow us to better consider the impact on the overall policing budget.

"Due to this, the next round of special grant funding will not be decided until October, however we have written to the deputy mayor for policing and crime in the meantime with assurance that the Metropolitan Police Service will receive a similar level of funding for Operation Grange for 2019/20 as it did for the previous year."

Madeleine, from Rothley, was three years old when she went missing while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry and her two younger siblings in Portugal in May 2007.
Scotland Yard launched Operation Grange in 2013 after a Portuguese inquiry failed to make any headway.

Shouldn't the head-line  read,
'for UP to a year, depending on whether the case is solved before then..' ???

There's an unsettling certainty about the time-frame for me. It rather reminds me of another projected date -line..

'We want a big event to raise awareness that she is still missing.
“We would look at high-profile people who have already pledged support. It will be some sort of focus around an anniversary, to tell people thatMadeleine ’s still missing. I think it would be later this year, once media attention has dropped, to bring it back up, hopefully, for a short period.
It wouldn’t be a one-year anniversary, it will be sooner than that.'

MADDIE HOPE Madeleine McCann’s parents say there’s ‘still work to do’ as £11m missing probe is given £300k funding
Exclusive

By Tracey Kandohla and Alex Matthews

5th June 2019, 7:26 pmUpdated: 5th June 2019, 9:36 pm

MADELEINE McCann's parents say there's "still work to do" as an £11million missing probe is given an extra £300k in funding.

The welcome boost for Kate and Gerry was announced today by the Home Office more than 12 years after their daughter vanished.

Maddie was just three when she disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on the night of May 3, 2007.

In a statement released on behalf of the family, spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry have expressed their gratitude to the police for all the work they have done and continue to do in the search for their daughter.
'GIVES THEM HOPE'

"They are greatly encouraged that the Metropolitan Police still believe there is active work left to be done and they remain incredibly grateful to the Home Office for providing an extra budget for the investigation.”

He added: "It shows that officers are still doing everything they can to get a resolution after all this time.

"And it gives them hope that one day they may finally find out what happened to Madeleine."

Scotland Yard previously revealed that a "very small team" are working on the mystery around her disappearance, and have asked for more cash to pursue "active lines of inquiries".

It shows that officers are still doing everything they can to get a resolution after all this time. And it gives them hope that one day they may finally find out what happened to Madeleine
McCann family spokesperson, Clarence Mitchell

After a Portuguese inquiry into her disappearance foundered, the Yard opened Operation Grange in 2013 - so far costing £11.75m.

At its peak, 31 detectives worked on Maddie’s case, but the probe has been hugely scaled back in recent years and detectives reportedly made just two trips to Portugal in 2017-18.

Those still involved with the investigation are now said to spend a lot of their time eliminating known sex offenders and chasing down potential witnesses.
ONGOING SEARCH

"Most of what Operation Grange is doing is having things set up to knock down and rule out, rather than pursuing a particular fantastic lead that could unlock it all," a source told the Mail on Sunday.

"I’m not aware of any earth-shattering lead or breakthrough imminently."

Despite a 12-year search for the missing girl, no trace of Madeleine - who would now be 16 - has been found.

In May, Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry laid gifts in her untouched bedroom to mark her 16th birthday.

They also hosted a party to honour the missing youngster at their home in Rothley, Leics.

The McCann's wrote on the Official Find Madeleine Campaign Facebook page: "Happy 16th Birthday, Madeleine!

If this latest injection of funds is designed to rattle the McCanns, it won't work. Nothing seems to panic them. I don't believe in the "new lines of inquiry" either, unless it involves forcing everybody holidaying with the McCanns into a reconstruction of the "abduction". And that won't happen at this late stage.

"I’m not aware of any earth-shattering lead or breakthrough imminently."
And that may tell a story.
"Woke and Wandered" has become a more regular theme over the past 2 years.  MW-T on 3/3/17, YouTube . –   Grange 24/11/18, Sunday Express,–  Gamble 27/5/19 Netflix.
And then the McCanns had to fight back, "Slammed" . 30/11/18 .  Kandohla in Sun and Mail, where they repeat the lie about "heavy shutters" . (They are not)

IF there had been an "Abduction" then there would be evidence of Entry, of Presence, and of Exit.
And there isn't
So there wasn't.

It has surely begun to dawn on the Usual suspects that Abduction is not a tenable or defensible position.
Woke and Wandered must therefore be their only refuge to avoid confronting the inconvenient facts.

Kandohla's "SLAMMED" may tell its own story.
Not "dismissed", not 'rejected', not "ignored", not 'scorned'

SLAMMED.   That sounds like an act of desperation.

Madeleine investigation receives further cash injection to investigate “outstanding leads”
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Comments are largely turned off for the various media stories published yesterday revealing that a further £300,000 is being ploughed into the Metropolitan Police investigation that has already spent in excess of £12 million trying to establish what happened to Madeleine McCann who went missing while on holiday in the Algarve over 12 years ago.

In the past, mainstream papers like the Sun gave readers free rein to react to the fact that so much money is being spent on a search for just one missing person ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]).

But this time round, the Sun and other leaders in the field have refrained from giving the public any say on the latest developments.

A story by the Independent is followed by a box saying “see all 32 comment”. But a click on the box reveals nothing.

Only the Daily Mail appears to be allowing readers ‘free rein’, with over 400 comments saying the equivalent of “enough is enough”.
Over social media, commentators suggest the news was strategically dropped “between President Trump’s visit and the D-Day commemorations”.

The total cost of Operation Grange – launched eight years ago – also appears to be ‘vacillating’. Two years ago it was given as having reached “over 12 million pounds, or almost 12 million pounds”, but stories this week are reducing that by up to a million pounds, irrespective of the fact that funding has been continuous.

Reports agree that the new cash injection will take the investigation forwards for another year.

According to Colin Sutton, in one of the road show videos produced by the suspect racketeer Alan 'armchair detective' Vinnicombe, such as Operation Grange is not a unit set-up for a specific purpose only. The unit would also undertake other investigations.

That however, is not how Operation Grange has been projected as regards public perception. So much emphasis has been placed on the 40 strong dedicated team, the time consuming PJ file translation and analysis, the collation of all documentation relative to the case of Madeleine McCann's disappearance and the resultant abundant diligences pursued - what time would be available for working on other cases?

The money allegedly allocated? Monopoly money - worthless in the real world.

Gerry McCann knew, knew, very early on that the 'search' would last at least a year, and was planning longer term and even anniversary events " to remind people that Madeleine was STILL missing".

At the time people questioned this, and wondered how he knew, knew, that she would not be found within the following couple of days.      But clearly he did know, know, or he would have worded it differently.

Grange are obviously following the same line and know, know, that whatever they are doing, they are not likely to find Madeleine or to bring the investigation to a conclusion for at least another year.

How can they be so sure ?

I have always felt that they need to keep Grange ‘open’ until the PJ throw in the towel for the second time, the ECHR deliver their ‘no case to answer’ dismissal & GA finally feels free to publish his long awaited second book.

At that stage, they can at least start to work on some nonsensical closure (they are going to need the very best spinners around!) to try to avoid too much egg on their faces, although quite how they will achieve that remains another ‘complete mystery’.

It could be said, the Met Police have a moral duty to pacify public interest in this long protracted case of nothingness but in reality, they are under no obligation to publish detail of their rationale.

In simple terms, they only need tie-up the files with good quality pretty pink ribbon, stick them in the archive dungeon forever to collect dust and cobwebs and rubber stamp the case 'closed pending further evidence'.

When those pesky interfering publics start asking awkward questions, as they will, they only need say that all leads were thoroughly examined but led nowhere.

Question remains - why haven't they already done that?  Does keeping the case open benefit the long term agenda?

On the ludicrous Sky News shouting show this morning one of them made the point that it may be the Home Office who are keeping it going, because no one DARE admit that they should have stopped it a long time ago.

Perhaps a bit like Concorde, or HS2, or CrossRail, the Millennium Dome, or other huge projects which have to be kept going to the bitter end so that no one asks embarrassing questions ?
Look at the IT systems still over-running, which will never be completed, because the technology - hard and soft - on which they once relied is already a decade out of date.
TSR2 was at least cancelled.
Grange may join the Groundnut scheme

Not sure about the TSR2 or Concorde analogy. Both were dramatically undermined and eventually scuppered by the US because of a fear/jealousy of the technology.

Michelle Dewberry's comments on Madeleine McCann search sparks big reaction
The Hull businesswoman gave her views on extra funding for the search on Sky News show The Pledge

People in Hull have spoken out after Michelle Dewberry’s controversial comments regarding the search for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
The [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for hundreds of thousands of pounds in Government cash to be ploughed into the search, saying "if the family was from Hull they would not get the fraction of the cash".
The former Apprentice winner spoke on the Sky News debate show The Pledge standing by the notion that the continued stream of Home Office funding was “according to class”.
She said: “If this was a family from Hull who had gone to a caravan park down the road and left their kids in the caravan, while they’d gone to the local boozer, this wouldn’t be getting millions of pounds worth of attention and funding, and all the rest of it.”

After the show, Ms Dewberry followed up on her position on social media by saying, “As sad as it is the search for Madeleine McCann has not returned any results, I feel strongly that if this were a working class family whose child went missing when they left them at home & headed to the pub...There wouldn’t haven’t been a fraction of the money spent on the search."
Needless to say her comments fuelled the debate further on social media, with hundreds of people in Hull voicing their own opinion.

A majority of Hull Live readers agreed with what she had to say, with one person commenting: “Well said Michelle you’re absolutely spot on.”
Another added: “Not her biggest fan but she’s absolutely bang on here.”
One person said: “Good for you and well said.”

But her comments did not win everyone over, with one person stating that it was ‘irrelevant’ as to where Maddie was from.
They said: “I think it’s irrelevant where she’s from or how affluent her parents are. A little girl went missing and it’s good that money is being thrown at it to find her.
“Too many people focus on the parents, as if because it is their fault she went missing, they don’t deserve help.
“It isn’t helping them, it’s helping towards finding a little girl who has been abducted by no fault of her own.”

Operation Grange, the Met Police investigation into Maddie’s disappearance, was set up in 2013 by then Prime Minister David Cameron after the Portuguese inquiry failed to provide answers.
To keep the British investigation afloat, the force have had to apply for home office funding on a number of occasions, with their latest successful attempt allowing the search to continue until March 2020.

Readers pointed out that there are other missing person cases out there that have not received the same amount of funding to continue searches.
One person commented: “As much as I love Maddie to be found as millions of others…why just this case?
“It’s not fair on the hundreds of other missing children…! So wrong.”
Another added: “Enough cash has been spent. Spend on other children missing.”
