Lest we forget
After coming home this evening I have read most of what has been happening on the forum today,it makes for grim reading on all sides I have to say.
The previous events on all sides I will admit has nothing to do with me,I was not around at the time of these happenings so I will not comment on them. In a battle, and yes even a battle of words on two sides no one ever wins, the battle will keep rearing it's ugly head and past apologies are soon thrown out with the bathwater when an arena is set up for the injured parties to try and maybe air those old grievances.
I just want to remind you all of how this ongoing dispute occured in the first place, A little girl went missing on foreign soil, For days the nation held it's breath, as mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles none of us could comprehend how this had happened.
It was unavoidable that differences of opinions would occur, but I honestly believe that most who have taken time to stick with this tradegy have at heart a real compassion with little Madeleine,of what has become of her,so what a pity that Madeleine Mcann's dissapearance and those that carry on her fight for the truth (on all sides ) should bring us all to where we are today.
In a case so charged with emotion of course there will be differences of opinions, but why have two opposing sides of the same "goal" allowed this to escalate into hurting others?
I would like to remind you all of christmas eve 1914 German troops began decorating the area around their trenches in the region of Ypres, Belgium,They began by placing candles on trees, then continued the celebration by singing Christmas carols,The British troops in the trenches across from them responded by singing English carols. The two sides continued by shouting Christmas greetings to each other. Soon thereafter, there were calls for visits across the "No Man's Land" where small gifts were exchanged — whisky, jam, cigars, chocolate, and the like. The soldiers exchanged gifts, sometimes addresses, and drank together.
"The truce occurred in spite of opposition at higher levels of the military".
I have been out today I work voluntarily p/t, It is freezing out there tonight, I have been in the city today (London) I walk the streets a few hours a week with a colleague handing out blankets and warm food to runaways, that's youngsters who have run away from home, kids with no homes,no prospects, desperate for whatever little comfort they can get.
What has this got to do with todays events you are probably asking yourself, well these kids are missing also! most I'm sure have parents or kin who miss them terribly but the majority don't have a choice of where they have landed up.
I guess what I am trying to say is there is already enough pain and destitution around why cause more?
This forum is the only one I am a member of, I joined as it looked a nice place to offer reasoned debate on both sides of the fence,I may disagree with others point of view but that doesn't mean I hate that person ,its just me saying I do not agree with your opinion.
A few days ago my PC was attacked, how I don't know i really dont, I had to format my whole PC, I have rang my ISP and they think I was probably DOS attacked,it probably is just coincidence,I visit a few madeleine Mcann forums as a guest, but let me explain what that meant to me, it meant I lost the details of at least 11 kids who need our help, who tonight are out there and I couldn't find them today as my PC became absolutely inoperable, what might be a joke to some (and I am apportioning blame at no one in particular here ) has caused pain to kids who have managed to beg a few pennies to get into an internet cafe and ask for help, 11 kids who stretched out to me via a homeless chat helpline and are now out there thinking no one gives a damn !!
I ask you all are all the games really worth it?
I do not question the fact that wounds are deep for all of you involved and I wasn't there dont know etc etc, and I agree with all of that, but please I ask again remember who all of us are concerned with here, a little girl whose dissapearance has touched us all.
Wherever she is can we all remember that please.

Strange because my PC is attacked nearly every other week. I log all the attacks on it and store them until it is time to pass them onto the Police. Keep your firwall up and your firewall log.

Hi Darling girl,
I have no idea why, and I am only a member of this forum, I was not saying the attack came from my visiting sites to do with Madeleine Mcann, It could have come from anywhere I will not point fingers at anyone , I was merely pointing out what harm can be done from others stupidity,or lack of judgement, or rash impulses,my ISP is due to get back to me and I will await any news from them.

Yes, thankyou muratfan I have now got a new firewall, windows firewall did nothing for me .
Once I was attacked I couldn't even get into my desktop so format was the only option left to me, so was not in a position to retrieve any data, anyway im back up and running and more concious of anything that may come my way in the future.

Well said Steph. Great post. Re Christmas 1914, at the weekend I watched a movie about this truce. Sadly, the truce only lasted for a few hours and hostilities were soon resumed. It's a pity that people here can't put their hostilities in the trenches and resume them when we've found what what we've been looking for. i.e. justice for Madeleine Beth McCann.

Re: Lest we forget
all the people playing pathetic games who obviously seem to think they are in MI5 with their spies and strategies and hacking and socks and outings and reading pms etc, need to grow up and ALL agree to stop this nastiness - their games are also tainting ordinary decent genuine posters who have never been part of any of these forum wars. The Police need to find out who wrote the messages attacking Jill and her mother and we all need to know what evil person or persons did it. It would be nice toknow also all those who have been laughing at this evilness.
The people involved in this need to stop attacking each others forums, stop putting up screenshots and stop reporting what other forums are posting, stop posting under different names and stop trying to mess with peoples heads. People are getting hurt and if this continues all the decent genuine posters will leave and you will just have all you lot of idiots fighting among yourselves. All of the instigators involved in all these games need to decide NOW to stop this nastiness and stop these games. And as Stephanie said you have forgotten the reason why you all originally came to the forums. Fighting and arguing with each other and scoring points and also attacking innocent posters is more important to you than finding out the truth what happened to Madeleine.

Stephanie, Cherry and Abbey, totally agree. Time to draw a line under all this madness and focus, as we did before, on finding justice for Madeleine :flower:

I too picked up a nasty 'worm' a couple of days ago, but I have no idea where from.
I have read that currently Facebook has a problem with viruses in emails.
One site I would personally be wary of is the current verison of this forum's previous url.

Re: Lest we forget
Ty bad manners that may explain something, I had bookmarked jill's original site and yes this could ring a bell for me (so to speak ).
Just a word of warning to whoever it was who did this to my pc, you may have got my credit card login details but my bank are on to you, my passwords are reset, I know what you changed my password to and I will find you , apart from hacking my pc that the police in this country seem to be oblivious to and turn a blind eye to, credit card fraud is something else !
Spamming someone with a DOS attack is something else but attempted theft has entered you into a completely different realm.
I have used my PC for 4 years, it's a little outdated but i get on a lot better with it than my laptop , never ever have I ever been attacked before through my pc.
You know what I have not got a bad bone in my body, I would honestly give my last penny to anyone and (sorry jill for sounding off ) I would not wish ill on anyone, but whoever did this is beyond low, and sometimes people you do not know are very stupid targets for your attacks should I find out who you are (or rather when I find out )you will know why believe me .
Put it this way I will have no legal fees to pay (confused well good ) you are being traced and I will prosecute when I find you.

Re: Lest we forget
Stephanie I wish you luck in tracking the scum down who did this to you. I really dread something like this happening to me because I wouldn't have a clue where to start in trying to track someone down or how to repair the damage. It is a crime and whoever did this should face the full consequences. I also feel for Jill and hope she can get to the bottom of who has been harrassing her and her mother.

Re: Lest we forget
Ty Cross, What happened to me pales into significance with what happened to Jill, I ask you all to double check your PC,Laptop security ,make sure you have the best firewall available to you,do not act like gullible me relying on windows firewall .
I only visit certain sites with my PC, I work online and do my voluntary work online and never have I encountered this before, I don't have the time to go off wandering .
Anyway I will not dwell on this that's not what we are here for.
Sorry for sounding off everyone i will now
