THE parents of Madeleine McCann have shared their "great hope" that missing Maddie will be found ahead of their twins' 14th birthday.

As the 12th anniversary of their daughter's disappearance approaches, a Facebook page endorsed by Kate and Gerry McCann revealed a heartfelt message.



Sharing a poignant image used four years ago, the statement reads: "Thank you for keeping hope alive."

The haunting picture with with post an angel-like figure, with long blonde hair and face obscured, dressed in pink - Maddie’s favourite colour - is holding a huge heart in the palm of her right hand.

The tender words “Because if you keep hope alive, it will keep you alive” accompany the “Journey to peace” graphic.
It has been posted on the Find Maddie Campaign website, run by a close pal of the McCanns, in the week they are gearing up for another milestone family occasion whilst their eldest child is still missing.

Maddie’s twin brother and sister Sean and Amelie, who are both aspiring amateur athletes, will have one special wish as they turn 14 on Friday - for Maddie to come home.

A family friend said: “The twins have spent so much of their lives without their big sister but they never forget her and they pray for her. They just want her to be found safe and well after such a long time."

Three-year-old Maddie vanished from a Portuguese holiday apartment in Praia da Luz nearly 12 years ago.
She had been left alone sleeping with the twins while her parents were dining with pals in a nearby tapas restaurant.

She would now be aged 15, nearly 16.

Earlier this month heart doctor Gerry and former GP Kate, both 50, of Rothley, Leics, welcomed “such great news” that a teenage girl has been found alive nearly three months after her alleged kidnap.

American school girl Jayme Closs, 13, had an miracle escape from a man accused of abducting her after her mum and dad were murdered.

As the freed youngster was pictured smiling beside her relieved aunt the Maddie website posted: “Such great news,” adding: “Jayme is an example of why we never lose hope and never stop searching."

Kate and Gerry wrote in a Christmas message: "May 2019 be a peaceful and positive one for us all. The investigation is ongoing and our hope remains.”

Scotland Yard have have two more months of guaranteed funding to continue searching for Maddie. Cops are understood to be chasing two vital lines of inquiry and are “hopeful of getting a result.”

Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the McCanns remained "greatly encouraged” that police could finally be closing in on their daughter’s kidnapper.

The Sun Online recently revealed that Maddie’s parents had been storing £100,000 in a special account which they are “keeping for a rainy day.”

They are planning to use the cash, being held aside in the public Find Maddie Fund, to continue searching for their daughter with private detectives, if the Government’s overstretched Home Office refuse future funding.

Ah yes, the "great news" that a girl's parents were brutally murdered and that she herself has been abused daily for many months . . . Great news indeed !  
Can the increasingly disgusting Kandohla not find suitable vocabulary to put her perverted thoughts onto paper ?

And I see we are back to TWO lines of enquiry.  We were on just the one a few months ago.  How do they breed ?
Unless of course the two lines are two people at the centre of the investigation . . .

I read the headline in the wrong context and thought we were in for a busy few days up till Friday!

The ( responsible ) parents being the ones who against all evidence insisted it was an "abduction " . The same ( responsible ) parents who have never been exonerated in the case of their missing daughter . 

Poor twins hauled out in the media when it suits their ( responsible ) parents ! 

Being 14 is difficult enough as it is , without having Kandohla spreading her tripe across the media , does no one think about the effect all this is having on their young minds ? 

I sincerely hope they have someone they trust to reach out and talk to , otherwise I worry for their mental health .

I wouldn't put anything past the  " heart doctor " . Has it slipped Tracey's mind that he's now a Professor ? 

I think the McCanns forget their children are growing up fast , faster than in my day !

Teenagers these days are tech savvy , it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they hadn't discovered forums , blogs and Facebook groups about their sister , who I'm sure they'll have no real memory of just what they've been force fed . 

They may be aspiring athletes , but that won't stop them being normal stroppy teens whose parents embarass them ( not many parents can be as embarrassing as Kate and Gerry , the husband she couldn't make love to !!) and know nothing . 

As they grow older , they will start demanding the truth , the real truth not a version of it . 

Maybe that's when Rothley Towers will tumble .

I wish the twins a very Happy Birthday and hope that they can enjoy THEIR day.

They have been very quiet for a good while now I wish they would keep it like that.     SHUT UP please.

Normal children play football or netball, and go swimming and run about a bit.
The McCann children are  "aspiring athletes".

My daughter at their age represented G.B in gymnastics , when she retired due to injury she moved in a completely different direction , she's now a network engineer . She still has the medals trophies  G.B tracksuits and amazing memories . 
What will these two poor kids have to remember living forever in the shadow of a sister they can't remember ? 
Their names and life splashed out by the parents in the media whenever it suits their " agenda " .

If a child was missing it would be everyone's hope that he or she would be found as soon as possible, especially the parents.  Why the need to report that this is their great hope? Why does Kandhola say that it's revealed?  Absolutely crazy.  This is an obvious attempt, albeit a bungled attempt to manipulate public perception, suggesting that the McCanns have no idea what happened to Madeleine. 

And why right now, just before the twins birthday? Playing the sympathy card?  Are they having a birthday bash and putting on the tears because she's not there?  Or is there something else afoot?

The Sun is paying Kandohla to write this nonsense, and people are paying to read it.  Why can't they employ a good investigative journalist and give their readers some real news instead of all the non-news and fake news that they get from Kandohla.  She's just making a fool of herself and the paper. 

Put the kettle on Tracey, stick to making the tea in the office, journalism just isn't your thing, even in Britains worst newspaper.

The tabloid wouldn't attract readership if they published anything but trash, they give what the reader wants and what the reigning political faction want you to hear. 

Tabloids are all the same - remember the sister ship 'The News of the World' affectionately known as the news of the screws- or tits and bums?

It matters not if the story is true or accurate or even fake - just as long as it sells.

We used to have a paper called, The Star (i think), it reported a lot of spoof news like double decker bus found on the moon, vampires spotted in Nottingham and sorts of rubbish.  Maybe they should bring it back, Kandohla would be great.

Hi Sharon, I think you mean the "Sport",its former editor used to present Look North West at One time,so that must have been a preamble to better news before it went bust,pardon the pun!

I doubt she could even be trusted to make a cup of tea. maybe carrying a sugar lump is her limit

The Official Find Madeleine Campaign website - which is run by well-wishers on behalf of the missing youngster's doctor parents Kate and Gerry - posted a moving message to thank the public for continuing to look for her.
It featured a picture of an angel with long blonde hair holding a heart in her hand. The image is captioned: "Because if you keep hope alive it will keep you alive."
The website added the message: "We still have great hope that Madeleine will be found and returned to her family.
"Thank you for continuing to keep hope alive and for standing by our side."
The post evoked hundreds of messages of support. One read: "Will never stop looking."

Another said: "God gave Kate and Gerry strength to keep going and one day soon Maddie will come home to them safely, always in our prayers.
"I really do hope that this family gets their happy ever after. It has been too long," added another.
The message of hope was being shared around the world last night by well-wishers in South Africa, US and Australia's Gold Coast.
Madeleine vanished from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, while her parents were dining with friends in a nearby tapas bar.
A Metropolitan Police inquiry into her disappearance has so far cost taxpayers £12million. In November the Home Office gave the Met an extra £150,000 to continue the investigation until at least April.

Friends say the McCanns, of Rothley, Leics, were heartened by Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick's pledge to keep the investigation going, despite calls from police union chiefs for resources to be focused on homeland operations instead.
Ms Dick was part of the team that set up the inquiry nine years ago after a plea by the McCanns to then Prime Minister David Cameron. She said: "I think it is quite right that we should continue until it has reached its conclusion."
Prime Minister Theresa May has also backed the move.
Portuguese police archived the case as "unsolved" in 2008. They are now working with Met officers to determine what happened.
The McCanns believe she was snatched from her bed by an intruder and may still be alive.
