Just to let everyone know that someone is impersonating Gonçalo Amaral on Amazon and selling AnnaEsse's translation. Peter and I reported him for impersonation and plagiarism and GA's publishers have requested that all free online English translations are taken down while they pursue this person, which AnnaEsse and I have done.

Gonçalo has been through enough without someone making money from his work. He did not object to Anna and I publishing his work for FREE.

Hi Jill I hope you have been able to make contact with Clarence Mitchell,in regard of this flagrant breach of copyright?
Perhaps Clarence Mitchell could move as swiftly has he had done to remove Pat Brown's Book in regard to Madeleine McCann from Amazon on behalf of the McCann family, right to a good name!

You would think he and they would have learned.

Nothing in the book is libelous.
The mccanns have not been cleared of involvement by the Portuguese police as revealed by the Portuguese Supreme court which resulted in them having to pay their own not inconsiderable legal fees but also that of the defendants they tried to sue.

In the UK the book would not be libelous since the same rules apply across the EU and should they try and sue, they would lose again and be stuck with even more legal fees.
They should keep their mouths shut since the media whom they sued and came to an out of court settlement with, could well decide to get their money back along with all the legal fees plus interest.
I suspect a few twitchy bum holes might be tempted to try and recover the money they donated to the fund in case the media decide to sue them as well.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if the tapas 7 chums decide they wanted their donations back due to possibly being sued/actually being sued for return of the money they got.
Would the mccanns capitulate and return the money with no quibbles?
Would they quibble and say it has been used for the search and they don't have the money?
In which case i would want to see the accounts and all receipts to show it was spent on actual searching for Maddie and not new interior decorating of cars.
Would the mccanns fight tooth and nail to keep the money claiming it was freely given?
Would they fight the claims and then back down if one of the chums said they would be having a nice chat over a cuppa and choccy cookies with some very nice detectives?
Would it then cause other donors to demand their money back?

It seems to me that the persons who hold the cards right now are the tapas 7.

They were present during the vacation.
They have lied to the Portuguese police.
Tanner admitted in Panorama along with a physical demonstration "I carried her like this"
They have refused to cooperate with police.
They know what happened to Maddie.
They know when it happened to Maddie.
They know who was involved in Maddie's death and subsequent disposal,
They know or at least suspect how Maddie died.
They would have assisted in the subsequent clean up in one way or another.

It is the tapas 7 who could decide enough is enough, especially when the police start sniffing around a bit too closely and start talking.
Their friendships seemed to have weakened, we don't hear of group vacations since then.
We don;t hear reports of them being seen with the mccanns.
Weakened friendships mean reduced loyalty and, they also know that first past the post wins the prize.
Depending on their involvement in the death, disposal and filing a false police report, obtaining money by false representation etc they could seek a deal such as immunity from prosecution or reduced sentence.
The mccanns would face the full brunt of the law.
The homicide of their daughter which could be enhanced if it was in the commission of another crime, abuse of a corpse, concealment of a corpse, possible sex charges, filing a false police report then all the financial charges relating to the fund from possibly multiple countries due to the donation button on their website
 Perjury (the Leveson Inquiry) ibtaining money and services by deception and so on.

What did they say in previous interviews?
So much to try and remember.

There will come a time when someone cracks.
It could be kate as she looks and sounds near breaking point.
It could be one of the twins who remembers something from that week, some noise or something they saw, something the adults in all the chaos didn't see them.
Remember kate telling is she was shocked that thr twins remembered things from that vacation.
Perhaps any sedation had worn off or not kicked in yet.
Bot seeing their sister after the very early part of the vacation, perhaps being told she was staying at another apartment or wasn't well to explain her absence.
Perhaps remembering the taste of a bedtime drink or maybe the prick of a needle or some kind of medicine.

It could be that is the twins who have the cards, the parents  repeatedly trying to mold their minds into the preferred parental version of event and that anything they heard or saw was only a dream/nightmare.

We know the twins have asked about Maddie over the years.
We don't know how often Maddie has come up in conversation,what has prompted the discussion or who initiated it.
We know the twins will have full access to the internet and they will have googled their sister and the case in general, more so if they have been told not to (it's all lies etc) or they have had limited access.
it is natural that they would google their missing sister.
I know they would have also discussed it between themselves as siblings do, wondering why one of them wasn't taken or comparing memories, especially as they are twins.

If they remembered something that shows Maddie was not seen after say the Sunday night and mom and dad came up with excuses, or they did a lot of cleaning in the apartment (snell of bleach could prompt a memory)
Maybe even hearing the rows between them that week and the subsequent years blaming each other for what happened, probably when some negative reports appeared in the media or when they lost a case against Dr. Goncalo Amaral which would really set kate off.

Maybe overheard conversations between their parents and also between their parents and the tapas 7, clarrie or others, especially given that adults forget children have ears and eyes and see more than they expect.

Maybe the twins decide to have a chat with the police behind their parents back, wither as a result of a decision made jointly by themselves or perhaps as a result of prompting by someone else.

It could be that they say what happened as they remember that week and which night to get justice for their sister because they are doing what is right for Maddie.

It could be because of the family dynamics given kate being mentally unstable (the thret to kill everyone and herself by pressing a button).

It could be because they remember something that perhaps happened to them.

It could even be payback after a family row especially given they are  teenagers.

It could be any reason, maybe kate or gerry threatened them that what happened to Maddie would happen to them if they didn't behave/stop fighting/get on kate's nerves/stop talking about Maddie/look in Maddie's bedroom/ talk about Maddie to non family members such as friends, teachers etc.

kate must be on tenterhooks wondering who will talk, will Maddie's remains be found, something incriminating.

What if kate and gerry get divorced?
Would Maddie be used as a weapon to get custody of the twins or a better settlement?
Used in anger  willing to throw the other under the bus, minimizing their own role, prepared to do some jail time if it means the other gets far worse?

We know their marriage was in trouble before that fateful vacation/
It could only have gotten worse since then with the media spotlight, the ongoing police investigation in the UK of which they think they have nothing to fear since Portugal has jurisdiction for the homicide, concealment of a corpse and filing a false police report charges and the Portuguese investigation  which they have every reason to fear, of which they have no clue as to what is being done,

Trapped in a loveless marriage tied together over their dirty little secret.
Knowing if they do decide, a lot of dirty laundry would be revealed and not wanting to currently put themselves at risk of serious jail time.

It has now been 11 years and the ties that bound the group together have weakened.
There is the fear of discovery, the fear of being thrown under the bus, resentment of the mccanns and possibly other tapas chums, jealousy and perhaps even the temptation for money such as a reward if the purse strings are getting tight, perhaps even fear of something similar happening to their own child.
Then there will be the whispered conversations about them by their co-workers, family, neighbors, friends, the general public when they are spotted in the street or come into contact with their via work.
The knowing looks, the glares, the faces pulled behind your backs.
Then there is the internet and social media.
A few small groups that support against the many who don't.
The groups that continue to investigate the case, examining everything in the files, the  statement analysis of your own words showing your involvement and guilty knowledge.
Knowing every time you speak, your words will be analyzed, leaving you fearful of speaking in case you further incriminate yourself.
You try to shut them down, legal threats against certain people and in one case winning but still not completely silencing them, they are just restricted in a certain area.
However in that case, when you are found guilty of homicide, concealment of a corpse and filing a false police report among other things, you may end up having to pay the money back along with interest and legal fees.
It must be hell for you, being watched everytime you leave the house, being listened to every time you speak, your body language every time you make an appearance relating to Maddie.
Then you lost the job you trained so long for,willingly or otherwise, all those years wasted.
No longer a practicing GP though you still pay to stay on the medical register, you work in medicine but won't elaborate, why is that?
Shame?
Embarrassment?
Loss of status?
Perhaps i am a phlebotomist/receptionist/ nurse's aide/clear doesn't have the same ring as Doctor Healy/McCann.
Everything you planned and trained for is gone, you probably couldn't even retrain.
11 years away from it all, all the advances in medicine, would you need to start over and go back to uni or start over in medical school and hope you can catch up.
How old would you be then?

It all eats away at the soul, the niggling thoughts questioning every word, every look.
The fear that today is the day they hear thr dreaded knock on the door.
The knock that has them wondering if they have been tattled on, blamed for what happened.
Wondering if they are the first arrest, the only arrest.
If others have been arrested first, who has said what if anything?
Do they plead the 5th and say no comment to everything or say nothing at all?

Right now the family dynamics are toxic despite the  relaxed and smiling photos  and interviews.
There is no let up to the pressure on kate and gerry,
After Maddie 'vanished' kaye blossomed and glowed, almost as if a huge weight had been lifter from her shoulders.
Unfortunately that feeling of relief was short lived.
Perhaps they thought a short investigation and they would be home free,
perhaps the sight of all that money rolling in persuaded them to jump on the bandwagon and keep appealing for donations,
From needing to be helped financially to now having access to millions  overcame their  decision to say nothing and let Maddie fade from public conscience.
Perhaps they had to use some money on 'searching' at first but when they became suspects money they had planned of using to support themdelves as per the rules, with the odd few grand being used occasionally to show willing now had to be used to defend themselves and sue anyone who disagreed (plus a nice payday when they won)
Gery appears not to have changed much, his smug face, the leaked smirks, smiles and laughter have not left much of a mark.

Kate though has aged horribly, It is etched on her face.
It is not the stress and strain of losing a child and not knowing what she is enduring. where she is.
It is guilty knowledge that is eating away at her.
It is the fear of imminent arrest,
It is the fear of losing her surviving children.
The weight that was lifted from her shoulders when Maddie vanished has returned 100 fold.
Perhaps with Maddie gone, kate thought she would be living la bella vita,
Instead Maddie is back, forever attached to kate's shoulders, a hundred fold heavier and bigger waiting and watching for that one slip, that one really bad day, the moment kate cracks.
Only when kate breaks and speaks the truth will that weight once again be removed.
Not just the weight of Maddie, also the weight of the guilt, the fear, the depression will be lifted and she will feel relief.
Only when she speaks the truth can she truly start to heal, to be able to grieve publicly and freely, to live each day without fear.
It will be hard to take the first step it is worth it.
She will get the help she needs.
Depending on what happened, who was involved, jail may not be an option, a secure hospital might be an option, diminished responsibility the defense.

We read almost daily of cases solved and prosecutions rough decades after the crime, the golden state killer a case in point.
44 years down the line, he is arrested and charged.
Unsolved homicide cases are never closed, they are shelved and periodically reexamined with fresh eyes and advances in technology for new clues or minute traces of substances that previously were undetectable or too small to test (Stephen Lawrence case)

Do you think you can last 44 years?
Di you think you can continue to lie to your surviving children for the rest of your life?
Do you think your marriage to gerry will last tlll the day you die?
