interesting conversation this week with a snapper who was in PDL from the offset

Had an interesting conversation with a photographer who was in PDL from practically the offset [ i know another two ] one who took the apartment pics, but i digress .
My contact arrived in June. Three weeks after the initial report of a missing person, and returned home in October.
PDL then was a very quiet place. lots of Irish with many properties owned by Irish lots of Irish money.
All the press were in the same complex usually sitting in and around the Hugo Beaty bar in the ESTRELA hotel PDL. waiting for instructions to come from Clarence Mitchell . he absolutely controlled the PR Machine [ he was described by my contact as slippery . ] HE CONFIRMED ONCE AGAIN WHICH I HAVE WRITTEN ON THE MIRROR FORUM ,AND THE 3A'S THAT THE PRESS NEVER FOLLOWED THE MCCANN'S AT ANY TIME ,WHILST THEY WERE THERE . they [ the press ] were usually waiting outside the 3a apartment , or the Police station at Portimaio .
My contact and all the media started to doubt their versions of events , my contact mind was made up when he physically walked from the tapas bar , exiting the complex going up that steep hill a distance much further than what Gerry stated , as we know as the crow flies the apartment was a few 100 ft away but it was nigh on impossible to access that way .
In PDL at the time there was only one cash machine. And everywhere closed on a sunday , and even weekdays if you required clothing or more than basic essentials , you had to travel out of town , My contact met Gerry at this machine on a Sunday , i think this was just a few weeks before they took flight [ i think he said October ] from the country ,he was stood behind him Gerry had two plastic bags containing wine . he was recognised and was greeted with the words " are you fucking following Me " . This was the only time He saw gerry , apart from media calls .
A Typical Clarence Stunt was Day 50 of Maddie’s disappearance . The press get a call from Clarance that there is to be a photo opportunity tomorrow at Midday near the beach .
On asking what this may entail was told by CM “ Can’t say what doing till tomorrow. 12 noon. All will be revealed “ What they saw was an absolutely crass sight , There were the McCann’s walking down hill holding party balloons you would buy for a 50th Birthday . Neither of them spoke a word whilst they held the balloons i’m not sure if these shots were ever published as they were so crass . They once they knew the PJ were onto them practically lived inside there Hotel for the last few weeks rarely venturing outside .
My contact said they are both very switched on they are clever , and the national press are sh*t scared of them the power they exude , because his words the nationals are all on there arse , and if they get sued one more time it could break a title .
The McCanns are absolutely despised in PDL, People in the village can’t Stand them.
NOBODY EVER SAW THEM OR THERE FRIENDS OR FAMILY ACTIVELY SEARCHING AT ANY TIME , The tapas friends always , answered to the press by saying “ we refuse to say anything “ and directing any questions to Clarence Mitchell .
Thus he doubts that anybody would have the bottle to publish GA’s book in the UK and if they did he would expect a media campaign to boycott any bookstores who stocked it .
He [ last year ] returned back PDL the town is back to 96% capacity due to terrorism ,people are returning to a safer part of the world , the Town has many more amenities these days .
His opinion is they played a clever game, getting celebs on board , the fund used for legal might , and the press in fear , GA’s win changes nothing the MSM are too scared to publish the files . they want to but are scared of the might of the high powered Lawyers .

He was still working for the government at this point.

The PJ are not a bunch of sardine munchers. Don't tell me that the PJ did not have covert surveillance on the movements of the McCanns. How that information has been used is a matter of law and a matter of potentially being squashed by high level ranks within the PJ.
That Clarence Mitchell had the power to hold back a tidal wave of snappers doesn't ring true to me. When have snappers ever been afraid of intrusion for that single shot?
I'll wager there are a lot of withheld photographs taken by snappers, squashed by editors running a business and waiting to be published when it suits.

There really are no papped shots , most if not all of the UK snappers were staff photographers and because of the nature of the job " missing child " and the fact that there hotel was never " doorstepped " only the outside the complex and the Police station . Plus as i mentioned they went into " lockdown " once they realised the PJ was onto them . The three i know who were out there are good operators , staffers usually play by the rules . There were no "paps " really out there ,and not everyone had a smart phone then either . It was less hastle to just stay put and wait for the photocall ,the papers were running the set up pics any salacious stuff would have been frowned upon at the time , it wasnt CM ordering just less hastle to tow the line .

Another 'snapper' said, iirc, that 'when they sent KM out on that balcony, with 'cuddle cat', on May 8th, we all knew it was all 'faked', 'all for the show' and totally/solely for the 'benefit' of the 'photographers'

Yep stuff like Kate and cuddle cat was clearly a set up i dont think it was a photo request just she gave a gift to the snappers ( a google image search of the pic would say how many got the shot )
A marketing / sympathy ploy ,thats why it always was sticking out of the bag . Another two The beach shots ,jogging ( but that all stopped ,it all went very staged managed.

It was actually Clarence's job to control the media on behalf of the Government.
Tight control of the media started after the "sexed up documents" saga and has been maintained ever since.
No journalist who wants a career will stick his neck out when it comes to the Government.
They will crush you.

The Edmonds' photo of Madeleine in the background of his boys' photo - never released. The grey scale photos released in the PJ files. The appeal from CEOP to any member of the public with holiday photos to download them on the CEOP site. The who-took-the-tennis-balls photo saga. The release of an out-of-date picture of Madeleine when Kate McCann famously had a very recent photo on her camera. The controversial make- up and reclining photos of Madeleine later released on an anniversary. The removal of smiling photos of the McCanns from a newspaper article.
It should be noted control of the press took hold under Blair in a big way. Clarence Mitchell's forerunner at controlling the press was Alistair Campbell. Journos not toeing the Campbell line were barred from press briefings.
