The Policia Judiciaria declined today to make any official comment on the weekend trafficking claims, which came eight months after Met commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe predicted the force’s £12 million Operation Grange probe was coming to an end.

Although the quotes about rogatory requests and 2 years of OG 're-evaluating' are interesting, the summary below the title sums up what you need to know;

"PORTUGUESE police chiefs have said they are “completely in tune” with British detectives following a tip that a gang of European traffickers snatched Madeleine McCann."

All this means is they are reaffirming that the communication is fluid and ongoing, they are following the same line of enquiry, and that the question was put to them after this nonsense came up. 'They' (the anonymous source) don't comment on who what where how why when.

There is NO hint of what this line of enquiry might be - we are just expected to blindly read and assume. Since I don't believe for a second that OG give out anonymous press tips, much less ones telegraphing crucial final lines of inquiry, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the press have no idea what the line of enquiry is, so assuming anything is folly.

Let's not forget it was only April that the line of enquiry was 'believed' to be related to burglars

"Portugal’s Attorney General’s office confirmed today the last of six “letters of request” Portuguese police based in the Algarve city of Faro had been asked to work on, was completed and sent back on October 25.

Officers in Faro had been expecting to receive a new rogatory letter asking them to arrange a fresh interrogation of four locals questioned as arguidos or official suspects in July 2014 as part of the botched burglary theory - but so far none has been forthcoming."

Well, at least this confirms the burglar theory has long since gone - if you'll excuse the pun - out the window

The Operation Grange team, now led by DCI Nicola Wall, is in regular contact with the Madeleine McCann review team based in Porto which got the case reopened three years ago after linking convicted burglar Euclides Monteiro, who died in a tractor accident in 2009, to the Brit child’s disappearance.

How many cases exist of traffickers breaking into house & abducting a 3yr old from their bed whilst leaving another younger female child ? MW Thomas just posted this on twitter ??

This is reported in The Epress. That paper has about as much credibility as The Sun.

I would take this with a large dose of salts - besides, how many times have we read such stories only to later learn that the Portuguese Police deny what is being reported.
