QUOTE:
The Line Of Duty actress – a mum of three in real life – stars in the second series of The Missing, playing a woman whose daughter is discovered alive years after she vanished.
Keeley, 40, told the Mirror: “I read the book Kate McCann wrote about Madeleine going missing.
“It was fascinating and I just think it unbelievable she was able to (write it).
“But I imagine it must have been quite cathartic, in a way.
“It doesn’t make for comfortable reading but then the story isn’t comfortable.”
She said her “heart goes out” to Mrs McCann.

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"
Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

Well at least Keeley Hawes has read 'madeleine by KATE MCCANN' which is more than Isabel Martorell had done, which she admitted on oath and was bound to admit that it was her client who had said Madeleine was abducted.

What a superb example of PR - who engineered this I ask myself. If Keeley Hawes wishes to prepare herself for such a role, I strongly suggest she reads anything but 'madeleine' by KATE MCCANN.
In another report she is quoted to have said..
“There’s this line that Kate McCann wrote in her book that really stuck with me. I kept thinking about it. She wrote, ‘Every morning you wake up and think, is today the day?’
http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-10-12/keeley-hawes-i-found-the-missing-too-traumatic-to-watch
My advice to you Ms Hawes - leave out any reference to 'f*****g t*****s, it will do nothing to enhance your squeaky clean image.
This case is sometimes like a recurring nightmare, just as you think it will disappear from public view, along comes another humdinger to rock the proverbial boat.

Just realised, I watched some of the first series of 'The Missing' and thought it over dramatized but then I'm no fan of James Nesbitt. Once seeing him on screen, stark naked, with a flower stuck up his bum did it for me .
I will just say, inevitably the couples relationship ended as a result of the loss of their child. It'll be interesting to see how Keeley Hawes reconciles that little issue when getting into the part a la Kate McCann.

I'm not a fan of James Nesbitt either, he seems to have 2 acting modes, 'cheeky irish chap' , or 'wooden' . I thought I'd give the second series a chance though, it seems better than the first one, mainly because he's not in it.
not sure why Keely Hawes read Kate McCann's book though when this series is about a teen girl abducted on her way home and kept captive for years, she would have been better off basing her research on the parents of someone like Elizabeth Smart or Jaycee Duggard. Still, it must be useful for some people to associate these totally different cases with the McCann case.

'Wooden' - a very apt description of Nesbitt if I may say. I think the rather poor impersonation of a flower vase must have been during his annus horribilis .

Did Ms Hawes also 'read' GA's 'A Verdade da Mentira',/'Maddie: The Truth Of The Lie'?
Purely in the pursuit/interest of research/balance/preparation, for her 'role'?
-----------------------------------------------
Ms Hawes, the 40-year-old mother of three told the Radio Times: "I read the book Kate McCann wrote about Madeleine going missing. It was fascinating and I just think it unbelievable........................".
Me too, Ms Hawes, me TOO!
----------------------------------------------
"...when asked about being able to leave the trauma of the role behind when she had finished filming, she said: "I think it's much easier when you have three children, you go home and… it's inevitable that YOU HAVE TO BE THERE FOR THEM, in a totally different world. "
Just a 'pity' then, Ms Hawes that 'your heart goes out to' Kate and Gerry McCann, both of whom were NOT 'there' for their THREE children, Madeleine and two siblings, when 'one' of them, erm, 'disappeared'.

I don't suppose Ms Hawes 'reads' here, but she does 'know', dosen't she, the 'reason' why the McCanns 'were not there' for their three children, and one 'disappeared', is that they were 'wining and dining' with their 'friends', completely out of 'sight' of their three children, having, diliberately and consciously, willingly and knowingly, LEFT their three children, all under 4 years of age, alone, in an unlocked apartment, 'accessible', by ANYONE, from a public road, outside the confines of the 'walled' OC, where they 'were'.?
Their 'friends', six 'parents' and a grandmother, also having left ALL their 'kids', alone, out of sight, in their apartments..............'supposedly'!
I wonder what Ms Hawes 'thinks' of page 129, of madeleine, written by Kate McCann.?
'written' all, (solely) for the 'benefit' for the McCanns two remaining kids, to 'read' when they 'are older'! (as KM has 'said')

Her heart goes out to Mrs. McCann. Wonder if she will be giving to the fund out of her big fat pay packet?

annus horribilis I saw that, his defining role but only because someone else was watching it honest, I couldn't get through any more episodes.

Re: The return of 'THE MISSING' series - Keeley Hawes stars...and reads Kate McCann's book 'madeleine' to help her to prepare for the role of an abducted mother in the new series about a missing girl who is found alive many years later
Certainly a more cerebral series than the last. The first series focused on the mystery of what happened to the young boy, (and was concluded at the end, with the tragic sight of the father visiting Russia because he couldn't bring himself to believe it).
This time we have sympathetic, brain-tumour ridden Baptiste (a great role reprised) taking a somewhat unlikely journey to Iraq (including walking towards an ISIL flag in a deserted town) to try and find Florian Reed, the son of an deceased Army man (did not catch his rank), who appears to have died suspiciously.
The main suspect of abducting Alice (who is actually Sophie) - Der Metzger - was at his funeral, his wife is a former high up in the army, and to add to the confusion, in the present the elder Reed's best friend, now suffering from alzheimers, and also the prior lead of the English side of the search for Alice, threatened Sophie via fairytale at the end of episode 2 to stop her identifying Der Metzger.
Oh, and Alice's father seems to have a secret.
So, where Season one gave us very few answers and a lot of intrigue/drama, Season two is very much giving us red flags early on and heavily implying the events were covered up at a high level, if only by a handful of people.
The Kate McCann link becomes somewhat ironic, since it is only her archetype (Hawes) and the dogged former investigator (Tcheky Karyo as the Amaral archetype) who seem to know and seek the truth. If they were teamed in truth, none of us would be on this forum right now.

So the missing Alice, now deceased, allegedly, is positively identified by a dna comparison with only her father?? Really?

Yes, that was a WTF moment for me, Harriet94. So I suppose it will turn out that Sam was the father of both the missing girls and that the one who was reunited with him was Sophie - who committed suicide - not Alice.

There were three girls on the rollercoaster, only one of them is definitely dead, we saw at the end that Sophie was alive and in Switzerland...making a dna match with just the father makes no sense, they'd surely have her dna profile on hand. This was happening in 2014, before the alzheimers... and Sophie had just left flowers on Reed's grave (the accomplice with a conscience) before the fire.
Adding a third girl has made things a lot more convoluted..
