Thank you very much @ GGS for posting this extraordinary article in full.

We can only stand and stare in disbelief at the extraordinary amount of research that must have gone into compiling this article.

A team at the Murdoch-owned Sun must have worked on this for weeks, compiling a complete list of these 8,685 'sightings' over 101 countries.

Then getting their graphics team to produce a very arresting map of the world.

I am wondering if this huge effort may have been prompted by the coverage, at least on the internet, of Jill's letter to the Prime Minister? The whole piece seems designed to impress on its millions of readers the fact that Madeleine is probably still alive out there somewhere.

In places, the article dispenses with terms like 'claimed sightings' or 'alleged sightings', and just refers to 'sightings' as if they might have been actual sightings.

This impression is compounded by Lazzeri virtually suggesting, once again, that the Portuguese police have been at fault for not following up every single one.

The article suggests that there have been 8,685 'sightings'. Today Madeleine has been missing for 3,454 days. That works out at 18 sightings every week since 3 May 2007.

If anything tells us that...

* There will be no media let-up in the promotion of the truth of Madeleine's abduction

* Operation Grange was an expensive charade from Day One, and

* Very powerful forces intend, in the run-up to the 10th anniversary of Madeleine's reported disappearance, to continue to use all available media to push the narrative of 'Madeleine was abducted - it's the Portuguese police's fault she hasn't been found'...

...then surely this article by Lazzeri, a journalist with a reputation for writing articles to order from her masters, dispels all doubt.

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

'Can you spot her?' Beggars belief, doesn't it, that the Sun's publishers think people are so stupid. On the other hand, they have been feeding drivel to the public for so long, they are the true experts and know that the majority believe the propaganda they read in the papers. The money will be rolling into Madeleine's (Gerry's) fund today, now the abduction fairy tale is in the news again.

What an utterly disgraceful piece of mock journalism - what a total waste of time and money.  What does it achieve?  What is it intended to achieve?

The repeated 'details not made public' throughout - why should they be made public?  It is apparent by just skipping through the list of sightings, that the majority are dead ends.  I'm sure the police (at least the Portuguese police) have more constructive way of utilizing their resources than chasing rainbows.

Is this person who claims to be a journalist, attempting to imply the Portuguese police are inept.  The McCanns always maintained that their primary reason for trawling through the translated files, was to find that missing piece of the jigsaw - that important sighting that was overlooked?  Well they've had a fair crack of the whip - over eight years and clearly they haven't uncovered a thing, excepting perhaps a very lengthy list of sightings around the world for Antonella Lazzeri to play around with.

So I ask you Mr. and Mrs. McCann - what has this exercise achieved in terms of solving the mystery of your daughters disappearance?  You should be able to answer Mrs. McCann - you know because you was there, remember?

By the way, does anyone think the Sun knew there was going to be a statement from the police about Ben Needham today? It can't be a coincidence that this huge spread about Madeleine appears out of the blue today.

Surprisingly the sun are allowing negative comments.  My personal opinion the article is a p*ss take.  Going by the running photo with the caption 'run for it' as well.

Is there a sense of their money and support are drying up.  So a gradual, less favourable news articles are about to be dropped on them?

Like Tony said,  there's a lot of time and effort put into this whatever way you view.  And it's all done for a reason.

Yes, I think that this is very possible.

I do not think the conduct of South Yorkshire Police can be explained at all, without postulating that this was done in conjunction with senior media figures, for some kind of 'effect'.

This 'search' for Ben Needham's remains was not done without fuss, but the cameras and press were welcomed with open arms. There was a new 'titbit' every day of an utterly improbable tale about a digger-driver 'confessing' 24 years later on his deathbed. The idea that they were going to search through 800 tons of rubble which was carried without cover through the bumpy lanes of Kos, with bits of rubble falling off regularly, was both risible and farcical.

I can't work out what the agenda for all this play-acting was, but I do believe it is somehow linked to the Madeleine McCann case

Setting aside whether Ben was an accident or something more sinister.

Could it be, showing the farce of the 'where's wally' map.  It's saying these 'incidents' begin and end on the doorstep of where they occur?

Anyone here 'reckon' a 'judgement' MIGHT be 'imminent' from PSC?

Apparently, the McCanns 80 page 'appeal' was given/handed to 'a judge', for 'consideration', on 4th October 2016.

I wouldn't have thought it would take 13 days to 'read' through 80 'pages'.

This would 'explain' the 'McCannfest' in the 'Scum', today, imo.

Plus, of course, there's 'way too much' Kerry/Ben Needham, in 'our' UK Maddia!

If there have been more than 8000 sightings, (mythical) are the Mccanns going to apologise to Gonçalo Amaral for claiming he was hampering the 'search'?

Wouldn't suprise me to hear that a judgement  might be imminent.   About time.

80 page appeal.  Will be interesting to read that online in due course.

Missing people
Find Madeleine diminishing fund - which is down to £46K, they managed to fit that in.

thinking  How much does the Sun charge for advertising?

As for well researched - I don't think I agree, all Antonella had to do was rummage through her archived files of bogus stories

The stats are ridiculous - no way could anyone be spotted in over 101 countries.  It's obvious that these sightings are false, people reporting them just wanting their few minutes of fame, or more to the point, people claiming to have seen Maddie after meeting the likes of Antonio Razo who was caught paying people to make these false claims.  And, an abductor is really going to go out in public accompanied by Madeleine isn't he? He would have to be as nutty as Antonella to do that.

Does Antonella think that we should be impressed with these crazy unbelievable stats?    I would be more inclined to believe them if they claimed that Madeleine had been spotted about 6 times in one area only.

Does Antonella think we were all born yesterday?

When quizzed by Sandra Felgueiras about possibly important sightings the McCanns "can't remember" - ha bloody ha!  Snared hook line and sinker, on record for all to see and hear..

Tony Bennett wrote:Thank you very much @ GGS for posting this extraordinary article in full.

8685 sightings.  3454 days.  That sums it all up.

I would be worried about any of the "Four Female candidates that are on the Short list"as their past History within the Police Force is no"Resume"or qualification in the about to be vacated Hot seat,Sir Bernard Hogan Howe, who has a close understanding of Madeleine McCann's case?
