No more forensic work on Madeleine McCann case say British police

British police hunting for missing Madeleine McCann have made the decision to stop all forensic work.

The Sunday Mirror can reveal the final scientific tests on the case were completed three months ago as part of Scotland Yard’s £12million inquiry.

Operation Grange was launched by ex-PM David Cameron five years ago to find the doctors’ daughter, who vanished, aged three, during a holiday to Portugal in 2007.

But it is expected to be shelved in the autumn amid concerns about its spiralling cost while other areas of policing face budget cuts.

A source said: “The final forensics were carried out about three months ago but, sadly, they didn’t take us forward. There are no plans for any further forensic work to take place.”

It had been hoped tests could be carried out on hairs recovered from the holiday flat from which Madeleine vanished.

It is a further blow for parents Kate and Gerry, who lost a £434,000 libel payout in April from a Portuguese officer who wrote a book questioning the pair’s account.

The couple, from Rothley, Leics, said: “Until we have answers, until there is news, there will always be hope and we will do everything we can to help find Madeleine.”

The inquiry has taken 1,338 statements and investigated 60 “persons of interest” but police privately concede they are no closer to finding Madeleine.

Just didn't get round to doing that in 9 years, did they?  I think FSS was too much to handle and they shut it down. They've steered well clear of anything that might uncover the truth.

And here's the biggest load of rubbish in a long time...   http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/reason-maddie-mccanns-parents-were-7859925

Through the television production 'Autopsy', I came across the name of a Dr. Jason Payne-James with a list of credentials as extensive as the length Jacob's ladder.  Having a cursory look I can't find any connection other than the name Payne (not unusual I know), the medical profession and more importantly forensics.

http://www.payne-james.co.uk/

According to the transcript of David Payne's rogatory interview..

1485 "Do you recall me telling you about the London number, which you couldn't find in your phone''

Reply "Yes.'

1485 "That number actually transcribes back to the Crime Specialist Director in London.'

Reply "Mm".

1485 "Did you contact them'

Reply "Err I did yes. My, err you know my sister err had been in contact with them and she was trying to do everything that she could knowing the, err, the difficulties that we were having out there so you know I did approach them just asking for advice but err I can't remember, I don't think I actually spoke to anyone there, but for some reason that wasn't carried forward.'

1485 "Yeah.'

Reply "But I mean, you know, just into the context of the conversation you know we're in a strange country, we've got no representeers we don't know what's going on, all hell's broken loose and you know to see whether you can do anything to help Madeleine come back, you know and that was the lines that we were taking.'

1485 "Do you remember who you spoke to'

Reply "I don't know.'

1485 "The call was made on the following day at twenty three thirteen, so that's late at night.'

Reply "Mm.'

1485 "You don't recollect anything else about the conversation that you had with that, was it you that made the call''

Reply "Err I, yeah I know that I got phone numbers from my sister which I did you know ring them but I can't remember making one late at night.'

As an aside, whilst having a rummage I came across a photograph of Dr. Jason Payne-James with Esther Rantzen.  Could be something, could be nothing.

Probably not making much sense here but I'm trying to piece things together - sort of thinking out loud.  It's always been a mystery to me why there was not one single positive result from the all the samples submitted to the UK laboratories for analysis.  I've read all the blah blah blah about poor quality samples etc but I've yet to be convinced.

It's already known that the pioneer of DNA fingerprinting , Professor Sir Alec John Jeffreys,  is based at Leicester general hospital, the same establishment that houses Dr. Gerald McCann and previously Dr. David Payne.
----------

Going off topic for a moment, I noticed during David Payne's rogatory interview..

1485 "Could you tell me who you are please' Your name, date of birth and where you live.'

Reply "Yes, my name's David PAYNE, my date of birth is fourteenth of the fourth, fifty six, I live in *********** ***

http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/DAVID-PAYNE-ROGATORY.htm

Fifty six - nineteen fifty six - 1956?  That would make him 60 years of age this year and 51 years of age when Madeleine disappeared - just over nine years ago when he was holidaying at the Ocean Club he was said to be 30 something?  Is it me?

verdi,

Can only assume a transcription error, fifty/sixty six.

Even an err, umm, buffoon isn't going to get his date of birth wrong and a mumbled response sounds pretty similar. I know he would have signed it at the end, but how closely would you read it through?

He was 41 which would have made 66 correct.

Yes of course big grin nonetheless very sloppy don't you think?  He could've been experiencing a revelation moment.  Eleven months of being shackled by the P A C T must have aged him by ten years.

Can you imagine this group standing before a court of law?  The lawyers would have a field day trying to fathom the depths of their meaning.
