Absolutely shocking...
Indeed...but what a truly remarkable similarity this bears to the oath every Roman Catholic priest swears to the Pope never to report any crimes, even gross child sexual abuse or murder, to the local cops - but only to the world's biggest and longest-running spy centre - The Vatican City - an oath that's led to thousands of priests perpetrating the most vile and violent abuse on tens of thousands of innocent children in countries all over the world in recent decades.

I wonder if perchance the two organisations are in some way related?

P.S. The media reported throughout 2007 that the McCanns were 'devout Catholics'.

It seems that this may be a case of "rules were made to be broken" http://www.catholic.org/international/international_story.php?id=34763
Since when did this pair do as they should anyway?

Er, because Clarence Mitchell, Director of the government's spin unit, the 40-strong Media Monitoring Unit, was on this case from Day One.

Attending the church looked good, and Dr Gerald McCann was able to come up with his: "I have seen a vision...of light at the end of a tunnel".

Before you could recite 10 'Hail Marys' and a rosary chant, Mitchell was on the blower to his mate Archbishop Cormac Murphy O'Connor, an Irishman I think he may have been (not sure), fixing up an appointment for the devout ones to see His Holiness, the 'Holy Father'.

Plus the visit to the Fatima Shrine looked good too, where Dr Gerald McCann 'put in another great performance'.

Presentation.

Good observation. That was good packaging and marketing by CM. Goes to show he was in it from the word 'GO'.

So why was the bedside table done up with pictures of Madeleine with a cross and rosary beads draped over them? You can see it at the start of this video, looks a bit odd to me considering that she was allegedly abducted. The video is well worth a look too, but it`s in Portuguese

Every actions of theirs show they knew exactly what happened to Maddie and they were in fact paying tribute to her - the cross, the visit to church and to the pope to get blessing and prayer for her, and forgiven for themselves. What about their talk about a butterfly that came and rested on KM during the Pope audience, isnt that associated to the dead? Also what about KM wanting to press a button and they will all be together?

Thanks - I had forgotten about this

Around her neck, Kate was wearing a set of home-made yellow and green rosary beads with Madeleine?s name spelt in them. During the ceremony, a butterfly landed on her yellow and green hair ribbons, flew away ? then returned minutes later to her lapel. She said: "It was strange, but lovely. It was like a small sign of hope."

The Definition and Meaning of the Butterfly as a Catholic Christian Symbol
Catholic Christian symbolism in art provides a clear graphic illustration which represents people or items of religious significance. What is the definition and the meaning of the Butterfly? The Butterfly Christian Symbol represents and symbolizes the Resurrection. The butterfly has three phases during its life:

  • The caterpillar - The caterpillar which just eats symbolises normal earthly life where people are preoccupied with taking care of their physical needs.
  • The chrysalis or cocoon - The chrysalis or cocoon resembles the tomb.
  • The butterfly - The butterfly represents the resurrection into a glorious new life free of material restrictions.

More mud-slinging by McCann-supporters - Page 2 Empty Police search Cardinals' tombs for evidence of child sexual abuse

Post by Tony Bennett 25.07.10 18:56

Cherry wrote:Interesting to see CM linked to Cormac Murphy O'Connor, the guy who has been complicit in covering up paedophile priests.
And here's something not too many folk know about - from a report last month in one of Britain's small circulation Christian newspapers:

Belgian R.C. Bishops held for 9 hours as police investigate priestly chid abuse

Cardinals’ tombs drilled open in search for documents

Last week (Thursday 24 June) there was a sensational development in the investigation into the serial abuse of children by Roman Catholic priests when police raided the headquarters of the R.C. Church in Belgium and searched the house of a Cardinal. The offices of a special R.C. Commission set up by the church to handle abuse complaints was also searched by police.

Father Michel Bercauld, interviewed on this week’s BBC Radio 4’s Sunday programme, said that the police also drilled into the tombs of at least two dead Cardinals, apparently acting on information that documents pertaining to the alleged cover-up of priestly child sexual abuse had been buried along with the Cardinals.

Police arrived at the Palace of the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels at 10.30am last Thursday morning whilst the monthly ‘Bishops Meeting’ was in progress. Several dozen church officials were questioned, including several of the Bishops, cooks and drivers. The bishops were not released until 7.30pm - nine hours later. According to spokesman André-Joseph Léonard, the bishops’ mobile ’phones were seized whilst the interviews and searches were carried out. In April this year, the bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, admitted to child sexual abuse of a boy and resigned.

Belgian RTL TV reported on a further raid the same day on the home of Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who retired in January as Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels. His computer was seized. A commentator on Vatican affairs, Mr Tornielli, believed that the Cardinal ‘would have diplomatic immunity as a Vatican official’ and may therefore ‘have given permission’ for a police search of his home’. As we went to press the Vatican had so far released no statement on the Belgian police raids.

Paedophile scandals in Belgium are not new. Six years ago, the notorious Marc Dutroux was convicted of child murder, kidnapping and rape in a scandal that was said to reach up to the highest level of the Belgian establishment. The case led to the famous mass ‘white protest’ by parents on the streets of Belgium.

Barbara Dorris, Outreach Director for the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests, said: “This raid is precisely what’s needed, not just in Belgium but in other church offices across the globe. Police and prosecutors need to step up, and promptly and thoroughly investigate allegations against predator priests and corrupt bishops, and use their full powers to gain access to and control over church records that likely document the crimes and cover-ups”.

These dramatic developments have been little reported in the U.K. The Belgian press claim it is an encouraging sign that the Roman Catholic Church will receive no special treatment from the law enforcement authorities in Belgium.

More mud-slinging by McCann-supporters - Page 2 Empty More about Murphy O'Connor

Cherry wrote:Interesting to see CM linked to Cormac Murphy O'Connor, the guy who has been complicit in covering up paedophile priests.
Excellent point, Cherry, and indeed he was very much at the heart of covering up the case of a known child-abusing priest in the South-East and simply moving him to another parish.

Wikipedia:

Abuse scandal

Main article: Sexual abuse scandal in Arundel and Brighton diocese

Murphy-O'Connor found himself subject to public scrutiny regarding a priest in his diocese when he was Bishop of Arundel and Brighton. During this time it was brought to his attention that a priest, Michael Hill, was a child sexual abuser. In 2000, when O'Connor ascended to the status of Archbishop of Westminster, the case became known to the general public.

++++++++++++++++++++++

But just look who His Holiness, the Holy Father, the Vicar of Christ on earth, has appointed to 'sort out' the scandal of decades of abuse of children by priests in Ireland?

I'll give you one guess...

Has there ever been a photo of this Vatican butterfly?
I ask, because here's a bit of a coincidence -- my OH and I have just been watching a DVD about ghosts and witches of the UK which he bought from a charity shop.

One sequence told the story of a previous manager/producer of the Theatre Royal, Bath who wrote all of the successful pantomimes performed there. One year he unfortunately died before his pantomime went on stage. His son took over proceedings and the show went ahead without his father's spectacular butterfly scene, and it went down badly. When it was reintroduced, a ghostly butterfly suddenly appeared and fluttered around the dancers for the duration of their act. All went well that night and the dancing sequence was kept in for the rest of the season. It was seen as a symbol of good luck and hope.
It is now immortalised as a mascot and guardian of the theatre.
I've found this description which tells roughly the same story as told on our DVD --

http://www.theatreroyal.org.uk/history/a-haunted-theatre

In KM's diary she says:"Later on, Clarence (Foreign Office family liaison) told me that, before that (meeting the Pope), a butterfly had flown above and had landed on the bow on my hair. ..."

Told her, eh?

Clarence Mitchell would know all about this local theatre ghost story.

He lives in Bath.

And now the pope is being set up over the Munich sex abuse case -

Pope being set up over Munich sex abuse case, says Vatican - where have we heard this I"`m being set up" phrase before?http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/13/vatican-defends-pope-munich-abuse

The pope's spokesman has launched a vigorous counter-attack against a report linking Benedict XVI to a sex abuse cover-up while he was archbishop of Munich from 1977 to 1981. familiar?

Today, the pope's former diocese rushed out a statement to pre-empt a story in tomorrow's edition of the Munich-based daily Süddeutsche Zeitung. It said that when Joseph Ratzinger was the city's archbishop he had agreed that a priest from another diocese should undergo therapy at a rectory (sounds like JimGambles "those who only LOOK at images should be dealt with within the community). The records suggested that "it was known then that this therapy should probably be carried out due to sexual relations with children".

More mud-slinging by McCann-supporters - Page 2 195540 Müller said she belonged to a humanist association which he claimed was a kind of "masonry" that "considers paedophilia normal and wants to decriminalise it".

Here's a bit more on the methods the Roman Catholic church uses to cover up cruelty to children by its priests - by one of its one-time chief 'fixers'. This article appeared in April this year:

U.S. Benedictine Monk confesses how he covered up child sexual abuse by priests

“I did it because I thought the Papacy was ordained by God’

A former Benedictine monk, now living in California, spoke on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Fiona Glover show’ on 5 June, and explained how for years he was a ‘fixer’ for the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S., where he helped cover up numerous cases of child sexual abuse by priests.

Wall was ordained as a priest, but after seeing at first hand how the Roman Catholic Church systematically covered up child abuse by priests, he left, now working as a lawyer for U.S. firm, Manly and Stewart, specialising in canon law and bringing child sexual abuse claims on behalf of victims in the U.S. courts. He has been viciously attacked for his revelations by the Papal hierarchy, but another Benedictine monk who left the R.C. Church, Richard Sipe, said of Wall: “Patrick knows the system from inside - not just church law and the hierarchy, but the reality”. The latest article on Wall’s website is titled: “The Real Horrendous and Nefarious Crime? Not calling the Police”, while in his latest book, ‘The New Book of Gomorrah’, Wall notes how in 1051 Peter Damian gave Pope Leo IX a detailed report of child sexual abuse within the church titled, ‘The Book of Gomorrah’.

After he was ordained, he became a ‘fixer’, his Benedectine superiors sending him to St. John’s Abbey and College, Minnesota, where he had to sort out and ‘smooth over’ affairs between priests and nuns and various priestly embezzlements, some over $100,000, besides child sexual abuse cases.

SOLEMN

In 2007, he received an LL.M in Canon Law from the Cardiff University School of Law in Wales and is the author of ‘Sex, Priests and Secret Codes’, describing what he claims is ‘the 2000-year history of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church’.

In his radio interview, he explained how he was assigned to the ‘Seminary Sexual Abuse Response Team’ a short time after making his solemn vows. “It was only after I took my solemn vows that they began to tell me the sorts of things that were going on”, he told Glover. He said: “I did as I was told because I was a company man. I believed the Papacy was ordained by God. I believed that what I was doing was in harmony with the work of the Holy Spirit. We had training in civil law and canon law at the seminary but we were always taught that in the interests of the church, everything must stay inside and the police must never be involved, no matter how serious the crime”.

MONSTER

Wall added how child abuse victims were regarded merely as ‘financial liabilities’. His role involved sending abuse perpetrators to other dioceses, always with a false cover story such as ‘A has had a drink problem’ or ‘B has had some psychological problems’. Wall recalled: “The worst thing of all, which will haunt me for ever, is the anguished cries of parents who suffered enormous guilt when they were first told that the priests in the church, who they trusted, had been systematically abusing their children. Their screams of distress remain a burning image in my mind”.

He added: “The Roman Catholic Church has been adopting exactly the same procedures for centuries. Child abuse has always been kept ‘in house’ and abusing priests are simply moved on to another parish where usually the abuse continues. Eventually I came out of the monster”.

Who in their right mind would pay attention to something trivial like a butterfly fluttering around, especially at such an important event; let alone made a special mention of it? Yet CM thought it significant enough to mention it to KM, and KM felt it so important that she recorded that in her diary. It's apparent the butterfly has a signficant message shared between them.

In the Chinese Culture, butterfly is also associated to the newly deceased. Not sure whether the belief also associates it as a metamorphosis into a new life as well. But, basically the Chinese believe that if a butterfly loiters around family members during a funeral service or a eligious service/event undertaken in remembrance of the newly departed, then the appearance of a butterfly round the family members signifies that the newly crossed over soul as well as wanting to say goodbye also has poignant message for the family.
In fact it's a given in the Chinese belief that a butterfly will appear during the funeral wake/ religious service remembrance for the dead, particularly if the soul transition from one place to another was sudden and unexpected; it means the soul is not at peace and want to impart a message.

They don't just target me but they used a member of this forum to target my mum too. This wasn't the real Autumn from here, of course - most likely it was Sym who really did contact the Macmillan hospice where mum was dying and then posted her name all over the internet. This screenshot was posted on Debbie Butler's forum and Debbie actually posted on this same thread, so was very aware of it but didn't delete it. She then emailed me to sponsor her walk for Macmillans. More mud-slinging by McCann-supporters - Page 2 Icon_eek

I doubt it was any of those. A fantasy or pipe dream perhaps? What ex copper would risk his reputation by writing vile accusations on his blog? I do wonder though why no one has taken him to task. People have been accused of all manner of crap and still Muratfan goes at it.

Avenging the McCanns? I don't think so.

More mud-slinging by McCann-supporters - Page 2 Empty More on the Pope

Post by Tony Bennett 27.07.10 0:37

A bit more on the Pope and how the Holy Father [allegedly] covered up child sexual abuse by a Roman Catholic priest, This article about His Holiness appeared in April this year:

R.C. priest in U.S. calls for Pope to resign

As Vatican struggles to defend Benedict XVI’s letter directing a cover-up of child abuse in the church

A priest in the U.S. has broken ranks by urging Pope Benedict XVI to step down, amid scandals of child sexual abuses by former priests that continues to engulf the Roman Catholic Church.

Rev. James Scahill, of St. Michael's Church, Massachusetts, an strong critic of sexual abuses committed by Catholic priests, used a sermon a fortnight ago to call on the 82-year old Pontiff to “resign for the good of the Catholic Church”. He added: “If he can't take the consequences of being truthful on this matter, his integrity should lead him to step down and to have the conclave of Cardinals elect a pope with the understanding that the elected pope would be willing to take on this issue, not just in promise”.

Scahill refused to blame the media for spotlighting serious sexual abuse by R.C. priests. He said: “The media's conduct has forced the church to openly deal with these controversial issues. I have met with countless victims of abuse. I have lives I can relate this to, and you know anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows the media has not created this scandal. The institutional church has brought this onto themselves”.

‘GRAVE SIGNIFICANCE’

The Pope had come under attack after a letter of his was published, showing that he had personally signed an order requiring the R.C. Church in the diocese of Oakland, California, to cover up the activities of a notorious paedophile priest, Father Stephen Kiesel. Pope Benedict XVI was a senior Vatican official and head of the church's watchdog office at the time he signed the letter. The church in the diocese had wanted him removed from the priesthood in 1981, but the Pope - Cardinal Ratzinger as he then was - took four years to respond. When he did, the Cardinal said that any action against him “would have grave significance for the Church”. It took a further two years for Kiesel to be removed. A Vatican spokesman claimed: “The Pope did not order the case to be ignored, but instead wanted the allegations to be studied in greater detail for the good of all involved”. It has also emerged that on 18 May 2001 the Pope directed all Catholic bishops around the world to report all cases of clerical sexual abuse of minors to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CHF), the top Vatican doctrinal office that he headed.

OPPORTUNE

A similar scandal in the French Catholic Church has also come to light. The magazine Golias, a critical lay Roman Catholic magazine based in Lyon, published a letter dated 8 September 2001 in which Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos backed French Bishop Pierre Pican's decision not to denounce a priest who was later sentenced to 18 years in jail for repeated rape of a boy and sexual assaults on 10 others.

Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi did not dispute the letter's content but said: “It confirms how opportune it was to centralise treatment of cases of sexual abuse of minors by clerics under the CDF”. Catrillon Hoyos had said: “I congratulate you for not denouncing a priest to the civil administration. You have acted well and I am pleased to have a colleague in the episcopate who, in the eyes of history and of all other bishops in the world, preferred prison to denouncing his son and priest”. Pican was later handed a suspended three-month jail sentence for failing to report sexual abuse of minors.

The internet has been awash with pointed comments on the scandal by the public. Two representative comments were: “On Thursday the pope said the church had to do penance for its sins. A good penance would be excommunication and prison”, and “This is an evil, corrupt organization that shelters child rapists whenever they can. The Catholic Church should be closed and sold for scrap”.
