Two Tremeloes Members Deny Sex Assault Charge
Richard Westwood and Leonard Hawkes plead not guilty to assaulting the 15-year-old girl in a hotel room in 1968.

Two members of 1960s pop group The Tremeloes have appeared in court to deny a charge of sexually assaulting a teenager.
Leonard "Chip" Hawkes, 70, and Richard Westwood, 72, both pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
Prosecutor Rob Youds told Chester Magistrates' Court that the girl had been attacked in a Chester hotel room.
The assault is alleged to have taken place after the girl had attended a pop concert between 1 April and 30 April, 1968, when The Tremeloes were at the peak of their fame.

I have posted this here, because Len Hawkes has (or had in 2007) a house in PDL. His wife, Carole, defended Kate McCann in a magazine article.

She has in the past worked with Chesney Hawkes.

In fact, she seems to know the whole Hawkes family, including Chesney's parents, sibling, cousins.

Chesney Hawkes' parents are Len "Chip" Hawkes (from the Tremeloes band) and Carol nee Dilworth.

They own property in Praia da Luz and usually spend a few months there each summer. They were indeed there when Madeleine was first reported missing and Carol, in an interview, tells how she was involved in the initial searches. She is very supportive of the McCanns.
