Re: David Cameron requests a meeting with Passos Coelho?
Thanks tinkier for the find.
I post here the article in full for easier access to read
It's interesting to note that missing Madeleine McCann is mentioned.
Cameron's visit with the Portugal counterpart has to be on pretext of some official purpose. Since even the journalist who wrote that article is unable to find out/know the official purpose of the visit, it is anyone's guess what the true purpose of the visit is.
It could jolly well be McCann's case is one of the agenda items for discussion.
It's about time the dual investigation is close and put to bed one way or another.

Portuguese media is buzzing today with the story that British prime minister David Cameron is on his way back to Portugal - not this time in his holiday FitFlops - but for a meeting with Portuguese prime minister Pedro Passos Coelho that some sources say he himself requested.
Officially, Sábado says “the conversation between the two heads of government will involve European questions at a time that Passos Coelho has reinforced his role in the EU, particularly calling for rapid reforms to European institutions”.
Unofficially, it is anybody’s guess.
National media alludes to the fact that Cameron recently defied his country’s opinion polls to sweep the board in May’s elections and decimate the Socialist opposition.
It was the kind of victory that Passos Coelho could be keen to learn from as he faces his own election battles here - and as Expresso points out, does not appear to have much hope in gaining a majority.
Indeed Expresso casts doubt on claims that David Cameron requested the meeting at all.
As Portugal’s media mulls over what “mutual interests” the pair might really be discussing, now could be the time to lay the long-running and expensive dual police investigations into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann finally to rest.
Certainly, there has been no news on this front for months.
But for the moment all that is certain is that the two prime ministers will be meeting next Friday in the prime minister’s official residence in São Bento, and that a photograph of them shaking hands and looking chummy may add some useful glow to Passos’ lacklustre election campaign.

David Cameron meeting in Portugal
Dodgy Dave having meeting with Portugal head of Government, only hope the Portugal head has been well briefed on the slippery one with his duplicitous nature to avoid answering straightforward questions, Andy Coulson, Rebekah Brooks, Rupert Murdoch, certainly a venomous triolgy there?
Very much like when a former British Prime Minister met Socrates over a now famous PJ Police officer, Mr Goncalo Amaral quickly removed from office over his investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance/abduction the parents claim, but no signs of an abductor being present in the abode, unless you were the abductor residing from the apartment?
All quiet on Operation Grange since DCI Andy Redwood departed the scene with his creche Dad covering ensuing sighting of an abductor by JT, eight months ago, nothing from "I nick erm before they know they're nicked" DCI Nicola Wall, too slippery for you was it, eh, Nicola?
It's only cost the tax payer 10-12 million pounds eh Dave, subsidising investigations for Rebekah's close friends, eg Leveson inquiry and the "McCanns is that all you want a UK review of the case", job well done now, eh Nicola and Dave?

Re: David Cameron requests a meeting with Passos Coelho?
Very interesting, and I strongly suspect that the worlds most famous missing person, still subject to an ongoing joint investigation by 2 nations, will be discussed.
But I just cant see this being a total whitewash. Too many people on both sides will know too much. Any investigator with anything between the ears, who is involved will know TM's aren't telling the truth and they know a lot more. They cant be kept quiet forever.
Many have suggested the case will be shelved as it was before, but this would just result in another release of case files by Portugal, unless of course, that forms part of any agreement. Personally, I think there is a genuine investigation, but with some damage limitation higher up the tree.
The timing of this meeting is perhaps significant to GA's appeal. A Portuguese court ruling in favour of GA may trigger many things. GA himself has said that he will pursue TM's and others when the time is right.
Perhaps things are hotting up. I hope so.

Re: David Cameron requests a meeting with Passos Coelho?
Yes I tend to agree with you Carry on Doctor - essentially genuine but with 'damage limitation'. However, it will be interesting to see the extent of the damage limitation... hopefully in due course. There has been silence from Wall since her visit to Portugal in March. Any investigative activities have been kept completely under wraps. This is in stark contrast to what occurred under Redwood's reign. Redwood's period seemed to be littered with leaks re burglars and other patsy' like figures. Hopefully, our perception of Op Grange has now been changed for good reason. There is no way this can be a total whitewash - no way.Carrry On Doctor wrote:Very interesting, and I strongly suspect that the worlds most famous missing person, still subject to an ongoing joint investigation by 2 nations, will be discussed.
