We always thought Jim Gamble was dodgy....now we know he is !!!

No trial.

Nothing in the public domain.

Doctor given bail awaiting sentence.

Doctor leaves court and says 'sorry' to the Press.

That's about it.

No-one knows the extent of the crimes committed (including the parents of these children).

Hospital says it performed properly and removed doctor once allegations were exposed so their 'hands are clean'.

CEOP is disbanded so it doesn't mean a fig anymore.

NCA is now referring itself to a complaints commission run by the establishment.

Sometimes the press do a good job. I hope they keep poking at this one.

Quango Jim is all but showing his CV to run an uber department.

Sick, sick, sick, but absolutely to be expected.

A dangerous paedophile convicted yesterday of drugging, raping and filming girls got a job as a police doctor, despite previous accusations of sexually abusing children.

Robert Wells, 52, was jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of nine of the 11 charges he faced, including raping an 11-year-old girl twice and sexually assaulting her three times.
Wells, who denied all the offences, also filmed himself attacking another 11-year-old girl as she slept after giving the victim and her five-year-old sister Angel Delight dessert laced with tranquillisers.
In 1995, Wells was cleared of attacking an eight-year-old girl and a girl of 15 in Brighton when two separate trials at Lewes crown court collapsed following legal arguments. The General Medical Council decided to take no action.
However, in October 2001 he was sub-contracted through Primecare medical staffing agency to work for Hampshire police, examining victims of crime, despite being known to the neighbouring Sussex force.

Robert Wells was a GP who had a private practice in Brighton and who worked as a Police Surgeon (also known as a forensic medical examiner) for Hampshire Police. In 1995, Wells was charged with sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl and then a 15 year old girl in Brighton, in two separate trials at Lewes crown court. Both trials collapsed following legal arguments. The General Medical Council took no action against him at the time. It was almost 10 years after these trials, in May 2004, that Wells was finally found guilty, this time at Winchester crown court, of nine out of 11 new charges he faced involving 3 other little girls. He was convicted of raping one 11-year-old girl twice and sexually assaulting her three times; and of drugging and indecently assaulting a second 11-year-old (which he filmed) and drugging her five-year-old sister. He was cleared of indecently assaulting the younger child.
The four-week trial at Winchester crown court heard that Wells had befriended the parents of the girls and that he persuaded the mother of the young sisters he drugged to let the girls stay at his flat in Southampton after an outing to the zoo. The next day, their mother noticed they were “spaced out” and unsteady on their feet and took them to hospital where blood tests showed the older girl had been given a ‘potentially fatal’ dose of the sedative, temazepan, and the younger child had also been drugged with it.
A search of his second home in Brighton revealed a film of the other 11 year old girl being assaulted in his campervan, and who later said Wells had raped her “five or six times”. Results from a sample of her hair showed traces of benzodiazepine. A cache of child porn was also found on a computer at Wells’ Brighton home.
Based on Wells’ current conviction, his case is not strictly one of medico-crime because he did not ostensibly commit it in his role as “doctor” because none of the alleged victims were patients of his – he was friends with their parents – however although the police say they are satisfied that Wells did not abuse any of the 20 girls under 16 that he examined as part of 3,731 examinations he carried out for them as a police surgeon from October 2001 until his arrest in February 2003 (Cowan, 2004), that would depend very much on the nature of those “examinations”, which are usually photographed and/or filmed for forensic purposes. Further, police believe that Wells has probably committed many more crimes in his 27 years as a doctor, but they cannot crack the video/photographic evidence they seized from Wells’ homes because Wells has made it impossible for them by encrypting the computer files (which the police believe contain films of more abuse carried out by Wells) with a secret code that only he knows. According to police, Wells effectively used his knowledge as a doctor and his expertise in forensic evidence and computers (gained from his role as a forensic medical advisor), to cover up his crimes.

I thought pleading guilty meant that the victims do not have to testify in court and also the full extent of his actions will not be known to the public ? He should still get put in Prison !!!

jozi, this is the point I am trying to make. friends

This doctor will go to prison. His crimes will remain unheard in an open court. His victims and the families of his victims and a jury will be spared the agony of detail. Those such as CEOP and the NCA will be spared embarrassment and in the likelihood of anything specific being poked at by a journalist, offering themselves up to an inquiry takes the wind out of that particular sail. The NHS will be spared of any failings. There will be nothing in the public domain other than the charges, the guilty plea and the sentence.

It's just how these sick things go.
