Re: Some past headlines....
Thanks for the pictures. I never saw those although I remember bits of news here and there.
I was occupied with other matters at the time. I did see the news in the DMail in the early days and as soon as I'd read 'they've taken her' and seen the photographs of the couple I was sure they knew exactly what happened.
So roll on September and flitting in and out of the UK saw they'd been made arguidos. Just what I expected so took little notice of subsequent events, expecting a court case in a year or so.
By 2011 It dawned on me that these people were never in court and I started looking on the internet.
First thing I found is that there was no DNA of the child in 5a. That was as much against the laws of nature as the twins towers collapsing in freefall speed.
So seeing these headlines I can imagine the Big Panic all round. Those who'd facilitated their story could have had no idea that the hire car would reveal crucial evidence.
It may only have become clear to them then that the Mcs had swan-like been paddling like mad under the waterline.
I would also think that as from the moment the dogs reacted to the car and the clothes, the Home Office was made aware of the implications. However, those in charge there weren't exactly the best and brightest specimens so did not act in time.
Very messy, but on the other hand those headlines earned TM half a million and a gagged press, always a silver lining.

Snipped headline
"
Kate McCann came close to suicide after Portuguese former police chief unleashed a 'smear campaign' against her, reveals her psychologist "
I remember reading a post which stated that if Mrs' psycholigist had revealed this to a newspaper, it would have had to have been with her permission. No health professional apparently would be able to reveal info. like that to a newspaper without a patient's consent.
I also read that in her book she states that any such claims were BS.
Errrrr ummm ummm is it any wonder people are asking questions?
Now if she did not give her permission (assuming that the report is correct) then will she be suing her psychologist?

Re: Some past headlines....
The McCann have filled the headlines for the past seven years. We will never know the answers but It would be interesting to know:
What would have filled these many empty spaces if the media didn't have the Madeleine Story?
How many newspapers containing McCann stories have been sold in the past 7 years?
What effect have these Madeleine McCann stories had on the number Newspapers sold?
What savings have been made by making up this nonsense instead of employing investigative journalists?
What has been the overall effect of these Madeleine stories on the financial health of Murdochs News International that was failing in 2006/07?
Why were NOTW partners with Missing People charity?
Is the media supporting the UK Government in this case, or is it blackmailing the government in order to keep its big, money making storyline in the headlines?

,!! Would be interesting to know when that partnership started.
Still, MP are doing fine - a steady supply of missing teenagers, most of them repeat 'offenders'.
As early as January 08 Kate announced her intention to become Ambassador for missing children. Took years though but is likely that MP was the one. MP are mentioned in either the diary or blog very early, always struck me as a mini advertisement.
On the lines of: a charity called MP contacted us - explained how many go missing etc..
