The programme also returns to meet some of the relatives and survivors of Crimewatch appeals past to see how their lives have moved on. Amongst those featured are Kate and Gerry McCann, Shaun and Josie Russell and Sally Anne Bowman's father Paul.

Another spot on Crimewatch for the McCann's. As the case is still on-going/unsolved, I don't know why they are amongst these other victims families. For the ratings I suppose.....

Not I think for ratings.

The effect of this appearance IMO will be to further cement in the minds of the public that the McCanns are the victims of a terrible crime against them

I don't think so Tony.

1, Nobody (the 99%) actually really cares to be "assured" over this case. They moved on years ago.

And

2, When pushed these (99%) of people don't believe what they've been told through the MSM.

If that's what this latest activity is all about it won't work. It will be utterly pointless and we'll be back to square one.

Yes. Former senior detctive John Stalker said the same thing over 7 years ago. He said: 'The McCanns are hiding a big secret'

In my opinion, all this protection afforded to the McCanns and friends is not for THEIR benefit (although they obviously are benefiting) it's all the others who were secretly present in PdL that week (politicians? celebrities? Royals? people with knighthoods? household names?) who were merrily swinging it to each other who are receiving top-level protection.

Almost as if it were the very first episode of I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Outta Here! (but don't let anyone know we were here in the first place).  bomb

With respect Gaggzy, such high powered and known people would not be mooching and smooching around Praia da Luz. They would be in a far more special and secure place.

I also think if this was about high powered and known people, this case would've been closed and forgotten about along time ago. But the mcs are still free and still getting donations to the fund (although hopefully a lot less).

this is all being managed in a "timely manner", think NOTW, they knew AC would cop it in Scotland so why not make him the scapegoat for both jurisdictions?   Leaving RB off the hook, just good "housekeeping"  tidying up loose ends n'all that!

Crimewatch 30th Anniversary (McCanns are guests) 16/09/2014 Empty Extract from Crimewatch article in this week's "Radio Times"

Post by Guest 15.09.14 9:30

... "The show is 30 years old this year, an occasion that is being marked by an episode with a number of special features, including a new interview with Kate and Gerry McCann, as well as relatives of other high-profile murder victims in which Crimewatch helped play a role in securing a conviction.

The McCanns, of course, need no introduction.  Since their daughter Madeleine went missing from an apartment in the Portugese resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007, their plight has haunted many parents.  A Crimewatch appeal for new information in October last year helped re-energise the police investigation and provide new leads.

As part of that appeal the couple were interviewed by Young, who confesses that it was one of the more challenging episodes of her career.  "You are asking two people to relive the most appalling day of their life, one I can't even begin to conjure," she says.  "Any parent has that moment of 'What happened, where are they?' - and if you have it for three seconds it's torture.  So the idea they have lived with that all these years...you can't imagine it.  Then you are asking them to relive it all over again.  It's not something you do without geat thought."

She was left admiring their strength.  "They're very together, they held each other's hands throughout the interview.  They have a great but incomplete family - and that's the point.  They are fundamentally driven by the fact that there are no knowns beyond the fact that their lovely little girl was taken from her room."

What also struck her, as it has when meeting any family with a relative who has been taken from them in brutal fashion, is what she calls the "ripple effect" of the aftermath.  "Particularly with murder, it profoundly affects everyone who loved the victim," she says.  "It's not just the parents, it's the siblings, grandparents, the cousins, friends.  I remember Kate McCann telling me that one of her preoccupations was how she was going to tell Madeleine's grandparents she was missing.  She knew it was going to utterly change their lives, too.  We often forget that."

Have I read that correctly ?

As well as relatives of OTHER HIGH-PROFILE MURDER VICTIMS, in which Crime watch helped secure a conviction.

Is that what they meant to say ?

It is just unbelievable that they can make such a statement. The case is still an open investigation with the PJ in Portugal and SY in UK.  The parents and friends have made highly questionable statements in their interviews. It is also unbelievable that someone supposedly intelligent such as Ms Young is still fawning.

Crack what's being covered up and this case will unravel very quickly. Won't need the forensic evidence as the TM will be hung out to dry.

It is just unbelievable that they can make such a statement. The case is still an open investigation with the PJ in Portugal and SY in UK.  The parents and friends have made highly questionable statements in their interviews. It is also unbelievable that someone supposedly intelligent such as Ms Young is still fawning.
What is the UK coming to ?

I repeat this big... whatever it is.

The effort being made on their behalf by the establishment is staggering.
IMO the roads lead to MSM
It is staggering - and it makes me ashamed of this country - no wonder Scots want to break free - (please take Gezza with you  if you go )

Crimewatch 30th Anniversary (McCanns are guests) 16/09/2014 Empty Re: Crimewatch 30th Anniversary (McCanns are guests) 16/09/2014

Agree, HelenMeg.  It's not just Kirsty Young, who I used to regard as an intelligent woman, it's the Crimewatch team and the BBC who need to be challenged on the stance taken by this programme towards the parents.  I don't know why Mr&Mrs are featuring in this special edition, as no-one has been charged or convicted of any crime relating to their daughter's disappearance.  As you say, it's an on-going investigation.

What has Crimewatch actually contributed to bringing to justice those who are responsible for the disappearance of MBM?

Wouldn't be so certain there aren't Scottish fingerprints and DNA over all of this.

It is quite hard to fathom unless people are selling their souls.
KY is reasonably intelligent - she has to be and certainly comes across as such, on Desert ID etc etc .
I wouldn't put her in the same category as LKelly, for instance.

I can only think that KY has a remit to follow and follows it in order to retain status, position, acclaim as a 'respected presenter' of the BBC.

Crimewatch is being hijacked by whoever is 'directing' the Madeleine affair. The more I think about it the more absurd it is to invite the Mc Canns to feature in this program, whilst the investigations are in process.
It is ABSURD and quite horrifying - I used to respect Crimewatch as a program but now just cannot take it seriously.
I'm losing complete faith - politicians / BBC / Justice/ Law and Order
Nothing counts for anything any more - or did it ever?

Kirsty Young is married to Nick Jones (owns Soho House private members club) who is a VERY close friend of Matthew Freud.

ETA - Wonder if the Crimewatch special will be aired at the same time as PT judges decision is announced. Hmm

Have I read that correctly ?

As well as relatives of OTHER HIGH-PROFILE MURDER VICTIMS, in which Crime watch helped secure a conviction.

Is that what they meant to say ?
I do hope so, perhaps I am wrong and the beeb are playing a blinder, but judging by previous TM outings on crimewatch I very much doubt it.

HelenMeg - no we absolutely will not take wee Gerry with us if we decide to go it alone  tongue.
