You can sort of see why Clarence Mitchell and the McCanns have refused to comment.

The McCanns have changed their tune and have now released a statement saying they're encouraged by the SY review. That was quick

Could this breaking news be the reason why K & G McCann looked totally devastated at Madeleine's vigil on 3rd May? Had they been forewarned by someone that SY & the PJ were taking things a step further?
I can't recall either K & G looking so devastated since Madeleine's disappearance, only when Gerry McCann came out of the PJ interview at the PDL police station, he looked liked he'd been hit by a double decker bus. Madeleine's disappearance didn't seem to age them at all. I think I would have looked a complete wreck for the past 6 years not knowing what had happened to my daughter or what her circumstances were. I wouldn't have been able to sleep or eat properly for the past 6 years, let alone going jogging every day.

Just on Sky.
Gerry and Kate 'no comment'
Gerry and Kate are being kept informed!
Possible future 'suspects' G&K are being kept informed, by the most senior MURDER defective in SY!
WTF?
Well, now we know what all that BS was about by G McCann saying (on Boulton) 'the police will go public and make an appeal when they do a bit more 'digging' and ask the public."
If these so called 'suspects' are out there, why hasn't SY been on TV, today, asking for us, the public to be on the lookout for these, obviously, dangerous child snatchers?
What would SY have to say IF one of these 'suspects' snatches, abducts, murders a child later TODAY?
"we didn't 'join the dots' sorry about that"
"well, we had our suspicions, but we weren't gonna tell you, the dumbass public, WHO it was"
"we will refer ourselves to the IPCC, and lessons will be learned"
Because it's all BS?
Bendy cop Campbell trying to go out with a whimper?

Don't forget BRUNTY got 'moved on' from outside SY!
Didn't they know WHO HE WAS? lol!
He was well upset about THAT!
Wonder if McCanns will SUE Brunty for 'hindering and stopping people from 'searching' and donating to their private fund for a 'live' Madeleine' by suggesting she is murdered!

Can it really be just me that sees how transparent this is?
The McCanns have pushed the abduction story since day one and have taken legal steps to silence anyone suggesting Maddie is dead.
I am a deep believer in "Actions speak louder than words"...whilst the McCanns pay lip service to the idea of their daughter still being out there is a statement that they "won't comment on operational matters" REALLY the reaction of a couple hoping to be reunited with their daughter?

Re: 19 May Mail on Sunday: 'MADDIE: UK CLEANERS ARE SUSPECTS' + WHO SOOTHED A WEEPING MADDIE the Express
Well there certainly seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes recently. Whoever was responsible for Madeleine's disappearance, I really hope they make some progress at last in solving the case.
From what I can see though, these newspaper reports do not seem to indicate that the SY have identified the Tapas 9 as suspects because in that case I don't think the SY would be handing the case back to the Portuguese who would have much more difficulty in taking the case further. I really hope that SY haven't given the Portuguese a lot of very expensive, but pointless, leads to follow up.
Anyway it will be interesting to see what's next, although I fear Tigger may have hit the nail on the head, '....... I think they're desperately trying to wind it down, hand it over to the Portuguese and it will be their fault if they don't re-open the case .......'

**BREAKING 17 May** SY Review Team have identified some likely suspects: 'Portuguese Police must now act', they demand
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Today at 12:12 pm
Scotland Yard has identified a number of potential suspects who may have abducted Madeleine McCann, the force’s top detective revealed today. Investigators carrying out a review of the case have drawn up a list of people who they say are “of interest” to the inquiry.
Today he urged the Portuguese authorities to investigate the new leads identified by the British review. Inital response was "here we go again....." BUT reading on raised some hope that the T9 will finally be investigated. There are strong hints given, these in particular stand
out....
DCS Campbell, speaking on the eve of his retirement from the Met, said: “There are a lot of people of interest. There are people who could be properly explored further, if only to be eliminated.” He refused to give numbers but said there was “more than a handful” of names of “people of interest”. Last year the review team led by Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said it had identified 195 potential leads after examining a huge bundle of material. 195 is an awful lot "more than a handful", so the vast majority have already been eliminated.
Today DCS Campbell said the 30-strong review squad had done a “fantastic” job in identifying “further investigative and forensic opportunities.” There have been no opportunites to gather new forensics therefore this can only mean further investigation of existing forensic material.
He said it was “perfectly probable” that information which could identify the suspect responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance was already with the Porguese files. So the suspect/s being within the files is a probability, not a mere possiblity. He added: “We have to ask ourselves why are cases unsolved and, on many occasions, we find we passed the suspects by already and the suspect sits within our system.” The suspects' details being already in their system is not a mere possibility, but a probablity. Also the vast majority of the 195 "new leads" have been eliminated so they should a whole lot easier to identify.
DCS Campbell said there were a "good number" of people who could be interviewed and eliminated to allow investigators to focus on a smaller group. If it's obvious to us reading here that a well known "smaller group" need investigated further, surely SY cannot fail to miss that conclusion? This absolutely needs to happen and in fact were I a member of that group and innocent of involvment, I would be REQUESTING this myself in order to finally clear my name.
DCS Campbell said: “The Portuguese hopefully will pursue some of these investigative opportunities with our assistance. There is room for further work and collaboration to resolve the case.” No need surely for further collaborative work unless some of the group who warrant further investigation are domiciled in the UK. One can but hope this is not yet another false dawn. ""

wonder why he does nto simply tweet he made an error as he has been talking about murder in 2 recent trials, one still in progress...easy mistake to make.
anyway...if the Met believed this to be a stranger abduction, why alert the perp/s that they are on to him/her/ them?
Not the way to play it, surely...

Here we go again another co- ordinated press attack by team Mccann . [ tomorrow it will be front page the usual hacks will IMO be given there stuffed brown envelope's to copy this cr**. ]
They have been trying to find a scapegoat for this [ crime !! ] since day 1 Murat [ likend him to Huntley ] 2 Hewlit Peado dying perfect , but unfortunately for them could not make that one stick .
I expect IMO the Met will have found the local village idiot / drunk in PDL , and are fitting him up as we speak .
I am sick of having being insulted by all this bull@@it .
Would it be possible for somebody to email the Met and ask what exactly they are playing at .
I always assumed this all came about IMO after a violent altercation between Maddie and Kate [ several head injuries resulting in death , hence not wanting police or medical assistance, as clearly could not have been accident . ]
But the more help from the top they receive the more murkier IMO i feel the real reason may have been .
on a different note
Why do you think Barrymore was not charged IMO he would have brought Police, Judges etc down with him . [ called the velvet curtain . surely this is NOT a Peado ring that has to be covered up at all cost . the more i think about it thats all .

on Sky......Met not saying if people on talk -to list are Brits or Portuguese.
possibility reading btwn lines of statement that new forensic evidence has come to light
police keeping cards close to chest
police liaising closely with Portuguese colleagues
word disappearance used not abduction
the fans are shouting on twitter that because they are urging Portugal to reopen that this means no Brits on list
I think it simply means that it is Portugal's case.
And it also looks like Hewlett is not the patsy

These press reports are coming from SY not Team McCann. Following Marting Brunt's Clarence quickly hastened to make a statement on behalf of the couple, 'very encouraged etc'. Don't believe a bit of it. Also think the fact that Sky News are leading with it may suggest something is happening. Would SY really put life of child in danger by saying they have identified abductors?

I have not posted in ages!! But I often read, and just came across this new development.
For some reason I just don't trust this. Maybe we have been disappointed to many times before, but I don't think anything will come from this. PJ said they will only open if NEW evidence comes to light. Maybe just me I don't know, but let's see!

Just on Sky
'maybe new forensic evidence'?
15 of 19 markers madeleine dna in 5A?
Dave Edgar, LCN findings?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
What happens if SY say to PJ 'WE want this chap questioned'?
And the PJ reply, "WE want the T9 and JW re-questioned and would like them all to come to Portugal and do a re-construction of events of 3rd May 2007"
"after all, they are totally innocent and we can eliminate them, (from inquiries, LOL) can't we'?
DCS Campbell said: “The Portuguese hopefully will pursue some of these investigative opportunities with our assistance."
How extremely generous of DCS Campbell to give the offer to the PJ his 'assistance' since he seems to think the PJ have never solved a case in their entire history!
And they can only solve this case with his totally superior SY assistance 'imput'!
Going to Tottenham on Sunday, hope there is more than a 'handful' of supporters there!
More than 5 less than the 36,000!

Well if they have a handful of suspects they obviously know who they are so why warn them of the dawn raids. Or is this me being naive? I would bet there are some very worried people having been given the heads up.

Sorry for going OT but does someone has a link to where I can see what Gerry and Kate looked like with the last vigil. I saw more than one person mentioning that they were devestated, and I haven't seen any images from that specific day.

Police have identified a number of suspects in the case of missing Madeleine McCann, Scotland Yard has disclosed.
Officers investigating the case as part of a review have drawn up a
list of "people of interest" they wish to speak to in connection with
the disappearance of Madeleine in May 2007.
The review was launched in 2011 in an attempt to find out what happened
to the toddler who vanished from the family's holiday apartment in
Praia da Luz on the Algarve.
Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell said: "The purpose of
the review was to look at the case with fresh eyes and there is always
real benefit in doing so. The review has further identified both
investigative and forensic opportunities to support the Portuguese.

"There is more than a handful of people of interest which could be explored further if only to be eliminated.
"The key things are to investigate these and our work is happening to support the Portuguese."
A spokesman for the McCann family, Clarence Mitchell, said: "Kate and
Gerry continue to be encouraged by Operation Grange and are very pleased
by the work the police are doing. Beyond that they won't be commenting
on any operational matters."
The Portuguese authorities' handling of the original investigation was widely criticised
The police named Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry, as suspects but
they were cleared in July 2008 when the attorney general ruled there was
nothing to link them to their daughter's disappearance.

Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann in Praia da Luz in 2007
Madeleine disappeared from the bedroom of the ground floor apartment
that she was sharing with her twin brother and sister Sean and Amelie on
the evening of May 3, 2007, just days before her fourth birthday.
Her parents had been enjoying a holiday meal with friends at a tapas restaurant just 130 yards away.
Mr and Mrs McCann, who have campaigned endlessly to find out what
happened to their daughter, recently quietly celebrated her tenth
birthday.
Speaking at that time, Mrs McCann, a GP, said: "We still celebrate her
and her being part of our lives. I go into Madeleine's room and I don’t
even have to talk - I can just think. It's as it was really and I’m not
ready to change it.
"We always include Madeleine in everything. She is in my head and my heart every minute of every day."

Re: 19 May Mail on Sunday: 'MADDIE: UK CLEANERS ARE SUSPECTS' + WHO SOOTHED A WEEPING MADDIE the Express
DCS Campbell
He re-iterated a claim that Madeleine could still be alive. He said: “You only have to look at the case in Cleveland, Ohio,...."
Surprised he didn't mention Jaycee Duggard, but he wouldn't would he, her stepfather, the last one to see her, (like Gerry said about Madeleine) took and passed 4 lie detector tests, to clear himself of any involvement in her 'abduction'
The McCanns have not taken ONE!
So can he confirm that the PARENTS of the girls, in Cleveland, were ever made 'suspects' in their daughters 'disappearances?
If SY in collaboration with the PJ ask the T9 and JW to go back to Portugal, to totally eliminate them from their inquiries, once and for all time, and they REFUSE, as they did before, despite saying they would do ANYTHING to help get Madeleine back, what are SY going to say/do about THAT?

Agree - they have to be top of the list - if they aren`t, then there is something seriously corrupt going on.
