I saw that and thought what the hell ,but unfortunately as they have removed the page, and the story they will say that the stories and pictures got mixed up. Then they will print a clarification and that will be it, they will not have to pay anything as it was removed. I know and it is wrong, before some start saying it is unjust, but just look at how many little columns are in the papers after they make mistakes.

Sorry, to me it doesn't look like mr. Bennett, was his name mentioned in the article? Otherwise I think you are reading too much in it, IMO.

Sorry! that is not clear, I interpreted that you are quoting a story about a sex ring (that cannot be about TB) with pictures of Smith (who to me doesn't look like TB). I'll read you post again..

I did not write the post, and it clearly says the link photos is Cyril ..forgot your glasses somewhere?:) and the point is they don't look like each other at all ! That's why the link to Cyril is there I guess.

I don't think you are the person to dismiss this. It might be your wishful thinking. Tony will give it his full consideration and decide what to do, I am sure.

errrr how could any newspaper mistake TB for that Fat Git Smith. Error or no error the pic was up long enough for people to get screen shots. On record forever. SUE TONY SUE.
I was also thinking that it would be great if some director hears of Tony and his fight for justice and decided to make a film, Hollywood love an underdog story. I pray that it comes about.

The best thing would be for Tony to demand a rerun (on the front page) of the trial report. Plus an apology .

Perfectly sensible and effective method of dealing with such things imo.

The screenshots are available and an estimate of the number of people who will have seen it would be easy to calculate by the counters used on the site.
I would insist on front page apology and reprint or summary (to be OK'd by TB) why TB was in the news.

Can someone please educate me with regard to slanderous tweets on twitter.
Tony Bennett is being tortured by twitters.
Including posting photographs of Raymond Hewlett stating that it is Tony.
Is this allowed?

oilpet, no,it's not allowed. I strongly recommend you take some screenshots.
There's nothing wrong with people voicing opinions, but if they are intentionally and maliciously making people think that TB is a convicted paedophile, then it is very wrong.
Just capture screenshots and let Tony decide what he wants to do about it, if anything, when he returns from his break.

i wonder if someone can do this for Tony.
it is muratfan who posted the picture of Raymond Hewlett and stated it was Tony.
alongside this are numerous slanderous comments - i would say every 5 minutes or so.

press your 'print screen' button, that automatically saves a screenshot, you just have to the right click and paste it into a word document or something similiar.

i simply cannot understand why no one has reported it.
i read very strict rules for twitter and it includes not being allowed to pretend you are someone else.
muratfan does this as well - pretends to be Tony Bennett.

If everybody report @muratfan as spam hes account will be shut down ! I've done it with all my tweeter accounts ! That will speed the prosess ! Go to his account and push the report button !

If the newspaper did this in order to discredit Tony, or worse, how many of the public would have seen this or even know who it was? Very few. Many more will have seen the BBC televised or written reports and they, in my opinion, did Tony credit - which we know, of course, he fully deserves.

This would point to someone at the Daily Star, of maybe, being in the pay of the Mcs and should be quite easy to identify. Did it only occur in the `online` edition or was it actually in the printed paper? Whatever, the editor of that particular section would have ok`d it and can be identified.
