A short essay on 'gays'
Another one of those questions like: "When did you stop beating your wife?"bunny wrote:Tony, why do you hate gays?
I don't hate gays as a group, nor do I hate any individual gay, nor so far as I am aware do I hate anyone.
But I do have concerns.
For a male teenager to become actively homosexual before he's 20 will, typically, cut his life expectancy roughly in half - from about 80 to 40.
Active homosexuals are much more likely than active heterosexuals to suffer a wide variety of sexually transmitted diseases, not least of course HIV and full-blown AIDS. They are more likely to be depressed, mentally ill, suicidal, and abusers of alcohol and drugs. These things are known from study after study, too many to cite.
Whilst not in any way supporting discrimination against homosexual men and women in most occupations and in access to services etc., I believe that marriage between a man and a woman is the best way, and that we are designed that way. Therefore I think marriage should be promoted and I do not support the active promotion of homosexuality in schools. On the contrary, I believe teenage children should be warned of the health risks of the active homosexual lifetstyle.
I also believe the age of consent to homosexuality should be raised at least back up from 16 to 18 and I do not support 'gay adoption'.
Homosexual advocacy groups typically exaggerate the percentage of homosexuals in the community, claiming up to 10% of people are homosexual. A raft of studies worldwide shows that they never exceed 3% of any population and the average figure is 1%. However, so successful have they been in persuading people that their figures are right that many agencies now have targets for the proportion of homosexuals in their workforces. I'm open to correction, but I believe that ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) recommend that 7% of all police staff should be homosexual (or bisexual or transsexual or transgendered, sorry, nearly forgot about all those). That's simply unfair to peope who are not homosexual.

Tony, I realise you were only answering a question, which you have every right to do. A very unnecessary question, and nothing to do with the original post, but If all members could please stay on the topic in question. If you would like to start another discussion please feel free to do so. This thread will be locked if it continually gets derailed.

Reversion to the topic
No, I don't want to start another discussion on this topic, but was happy (as you observed) to answer a question, albeit an immensely loaded question and one that had nothing whatsoever do do with the subject of the thread.candyfloss wrote:Tony...If you would like to start another discussion please feel free to do so.
If I return to the subject of the thread, I do find it mildly curious, at least, that someone running for an organisation purportedly about missing or abducted people should want to celebrate Mark Speight. He only went 'missing' after his girlfriend died apparently in a hot bath after an evening together with him of grossly excess alcohol and drug abuse - probably not for the first time.
Why not run on behalf of someone who really is 'missing' - now - under truly unfortunate circumstances? Surely that would be more productive?
I also have some question marks about the obvious nexus between the McCanns, 'Missing People' and 'Missing People Europe'.
That's all.

I am at a loss as to why a charity set up in Speight's memory, has been included in the event at Hyde Park, given that he is not a 'missing' person. Speight's brief disappearance which culminated in him being found dead, having committed suicide, following the suspicious death of his girlfriend, hardly puts him in the 'missing' person catergory.

... so Kate is running 10 miles around Hyde Park.
Wouldn't the time and effort be better spent running around the lawless villages where her daughter's trapped? What with this and the radio show it's a busy old life isn't it. When will they get time to open that file... you know, the one that might tell the whereabouts of their missing daughter.

The whole problem with your discussion is captured in the sentence "for a male teenager to BECOME gay". No one becomes anything they ARE gay. There is no choice involved. The only discussion has to revolve around the way we, as the other 90 percent, deal with it.

Scary, you seem to be reading my thoughts.
Yeah, they couldn't bloody remember any specific.....
apart from the 2 PDL sightings, which is common knowledge to the whole world anyway.
Even that they didnt pursue.....If I were innocent I would make sure investigators haul Smith to PT for re-interviews.

vaguely1 wrote:Yep, I am happy for that one to stand - because you had the whole of the internet to dig out information on the tragic death of this man.
Wiki is an obvious start, yet you didn't go for Wiki, you tried to infer that there was something suspicious about his girlfriends death with your first round of comments. Then you went to 'GAY FORUM' and copy and pasted scurrilous gossip rather than posting up the conclusion that the investigating officers reached.
So I won't apologise, and I appreciate that it wasn't actually you asking for an apology.
And Autumn please don't ban me for 24 hours, that's so pointless. You ban someone for 24 hours when they are being needlessly hot headed to give them a cooling off period. Just ban me for good (you can do this by banning my IP, it's a fixed IP not a proxy, and not AOL)
Hope that helps.

I observed you've asked to be shown the exit door more than once.

No disrespect - but why was a charity established in his memory - what had he done for the good of mankind? Was he a celebrity? Far as I understand he was a TV personality on children's programme.
Autumn
Me, too, I fail to understand how he could be classed as 'missing'. I would have thought 'AWOL' maybe understand those circumstances.

bunny,
Do you have children?
Mind if I ask, if one of them were to tell you s/he is gay, how will you react?

Another day with the governess
The twins will be missing their Mum this week...a couple of days with lawyers in Portugal, a studio recording of how Mummy has benefited from Roman Catholicism, and then a trip down to London for a quarter-marathon.Ruby wrote:... so Kate is running 10 miles around Hyde Park.

McCanns In Charity Run For Missing People
1:05pm UK, Saturday March 13, 2010
Huw Borland, Sky News Online
The parents of Madeleine McCann have joined 450 runners to take part in a 10km charity run for missing people.
Gerry, 41, and Kate McCann, 42, lined up at the first ever Miles for Missing People in London's Hyde Park, alongside other families whose loved ones vanished.
The couple wore matching white T-shirts bearing a smiling picture of their daughter and the words "Don't give up on me".
There are moments when you swing between hope and despair, sometimes you feel different emotions at the same time which can be very confusing.
Rachel Elias
Mrs McCann and her husband Gerry, from Rothley, Leicestershire, were on holiday with their three children in Praia da Luz, Portugal, when Madeleine went missing in May 2007.
In an earlier statement, Mrs McCann said: "Gerry and I know the pain that having Madeleine missing has caused us, but sadly we are not alone.

"There are thousands of families across the UK waiting for news.
"That's why Missing People provides support for missing children, vulnerable adults and families left behind, and we want to do all we can to help them."
Rachel Elias, 40, from South Wales, sister of former Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards, who went missing in February 1995, was among the runners.
She said: "I am running it for my brother and for all the other people who have disappeared and to support the work of this charity.
"They have been a tremendous source of strength over the last 15 years.

Nicki Durbin, 41, from Suffolk, whose son Luke disappeared in 2006 aged 19 following an evening at a nightclub in Ipswich, also supported the event.
