Libel diary 5: The phone call again - Facts don't lie
This is excellent from Blacksmith, and something that hadn't entered my mind before now. Of course he is right, why would you take the slow route and call the local police station, try to find numbers etc., you would immediately call it as an emergency i.e 999 in this country, and 112 in Portugal......

Easily explained by the Gerald McCann method:
the Portuguese had no helicopters, no navy (no Royal Navy strictly speaking) and probably no emergency services either. Foreign you see.....

Makes you wonder given the spread-out nature of the Ocean Club resort, if there was a sheet or booklet supplied in the apartments with important information, such as you find in hotel rooms. If this was the case, attention would have been drawn to it at the welcome meeting......important info, for example in case of medical emergency......if immediate help needed guests would need a direct number rather than the convoluted route of contact reception.

No need for emergency numbers to be in rooms that week as 'the British NHS Doctors' were on site, imagine the welcome meeting -
'now if anyone is taken ill this week don't bother calling 112 as we have a large group of NHS Doctors here and they will be happy to save your lives and not expect you to tell anyone about it - should you need them you will find then every night in our Tapas bar minus their children!!

One NHS doctor is enough to scare hell out of me...
A whole bunch of them is reason enough to change continents!
No wonder there's been "an exceptional event"....

Any normal person would contact the police immediately. The sooner they can assist, the more help you have, the more chances you have of finding her quickly.
If they were unsure who to ring, or were concerned with the language barrier, the staff at the resort would have helped. The long delay in calling the police adds to the suspicion people have. There were 9 adults in that group, some supposedly trained professionals, yet none of them could get it together to immediately call the police?
That is just very implausible in my book. Something smells very fishy about their actions and versions of events.

When I went to Portugal with a tour company (not Mark Warner) we were given a welcome pack on the bus collecting us at the airport. This contained lots of info including emergency nos. there was also a welcome meeting which did not mention the emergency police no presumably as it was in the welcome pack. As far as i can recall I have been given police and medical emergency nos on EVERY holiday i ever went on with a tour operator via literature given to me on arrival.
