PJ inspectors from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] have been to the Algarve several times over the last few months, secretly working on the Maddie case. The re-analysis of all of the case’s elements has already been through the verification of telephone data.
Everyone who has been, one way or another, connected to the Madeleine McCann case investigation, on the 3rd of May of 2007, admit that there may be lapses in the process. Nevertheless, the major difficulty is related to the time that has already passed since the disappearance, which may have dissipated potential evidence that has never been found.
Confronted with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], Kate and Gerry McCann - the parents of the little English girl, who have been made arguidos in the process – released [in a press release sent to Lusa news agency yesterday] an expression of happiness over the articulation that has been established between the Scotland Yard and the Judiciary Police (PJ), through a team from the Oporto Directory.
“We are naturally happy about this development because it is exactly what we have been asking for. We hope that this re-evaluation of the case will result in the reopening of the process within useful time”, they declared, through their communications advisors [PR's].
JN has requested some additional clarification which did not arrive within useful time. The couple’s lawyer, Rogério Alves, also insists in the cooperation between police forces.
“What the parents want, above everything else, is to discover what happened to their daughter, naturally sustaining the hope of still being able to find her alive. In order for that to happen, it is necessary that the police forces don’t stop searching, don’t stop following the leads that are available”, the lawyer explains.
It is precisely in the search for clues that the PJ from Oporto has been working, in a very discreet way, over the last few months, travelling to the Algarve. They were given the mission to go through the entire previous investigation with a fine toothed comb, but also to verify the data.
As JN was able to find out, one of the aspects that is being newly worked over is the telephone traffic of the members of the group that were spending their holiday at the Ocean Club, in Lagos, in the Algarve, in May 2007. This is being done through the records of the area’s antennas.

Well. well. well. they were not checking out M3 leads then? Why am I not surprised!
OMG, have they been paying attention to our in-house Commando's Phone Forensics records?

Does it mean the Yard could have requisite their phone records from the UK side?

Re: Maddie Case: PJ/Oporto has already been on the field in the Algarve
Spin, spin, spinny spin spin... Kate and Gerry 'delighted' that the PJ are re-examining the phone records of the T9? Pull the other one...
Seems like the wheels are coming off Team McCanns cart... I wonder if sleep is coming so easy now?
I'm betting clean undergarments are needed every time the doorbell rings at 5, The Crescent at present (rhyme unintentional!)
So. Studying deleted phone calls. Why would that be? I thought we were told they were re-examining the 'Victoria Beckham lady sightings' et al? Makes one wonder if the 'eight strong leads' was spin for 'they are studying the eight most likely players (from the T9) (but naturally, we won't admit that...)
I'm feeling suddenly lighter of heart! Let's hope this carries on in the correct direction, for Maddie and justice' sake.

Yes indeedy - well done Kiko, let's hope all your sterling work has paid off.alison wrote:I hope Kiko reads this. SY already have a summary of his findings of course.
In fact, let's not stop at Kiko. Let's say all our work. Those of us still here five years on, who for the sake of wishing to see justice for a little girl have been insulted, verbally abused, metaphorically spat at. In Tony's case*, taken to court and gagged. We have gritted our teeth and held on. That is something for us all to be proud of, surely?
* I wonder, if this carries on, what the implications might be for Tony's case???

Given that there is now some considerable "uncertainty", about any of the facts, or the conclusions, or even of the way the investigation was carried out,rainbow-fairy wrote:

surely the only legally reasonable course would be to adjourn "sine die".

Err....I think that is a tad difficult to hope for since that would mean "losing face" for the mccanns as well as conceding that their case is not only vexatious showing them up for their vicious nature as well.
What is good news is TB can cite the unfolded development of the review and exhibit all the articles especially those from Portugal side to the Court to reinforce his defence.
The Review implications for them are enormous now that the case is running by its own steam ....and not their pte detectives running their puppets wayang anymore. Hopeful the re-interviews happen before TB's trial data.
I hope the Police are not thinking of virtual interview of the holiday group? That would be ludicrous - having a voice with a virtual face interrogate the Tapas 7 on webcam? ........my imagination is running a bit after I heard the virtual reconstitution.

Yes, we've all been hanging in, adding our grain of sand, as the Catalans say.
My conclusions re the phone records? And re Gerry's handwriting trick which saw him signing-in another couple's child for them?
Don't worry. The PJ in Porto will have them within 24 hours.
I don't think for one moment they'll acknowledge receipt of them. But I hope they'll take 10 minutes to read and consider them. Like "yes, why did Murat and Gerry both shut down their mobiles for 31 and a half hours simultaneously?" "What was Kate doing, sending and/or receiving a flurry of messages at 2215 on 1 May?" "Who was that person who texted Gerry from a UK mobile just after creche began on 29 April?" "Let's think about why Robert Naylor allowed Gerry to take his daughter to creche and sign her in five times. Who was the girl masquerading as Maddie McCann?"

Matters of provable fact.
Jonathan Aitken sued for libel and lost. The costs lead to his bankruptcy. He was subsequently sentenced to 18 months in prison for perjury during that libel trial.
Jeffrey Archer sued for libel and won £500,000. He was subsequently sentenced fo 4 years in prison for perjury.
Just suppose the unsupposeable, just try to imagine the unimaginable, that someone sues for libel and an old man in poor health is committed to prison on their unsupported and totally uncorroborated word.
Imagine then that the evidence that person or persons gave was perjured. Even to the tiniest degree, stretched, modified, elaborated, massaged, (insert any other "spin" word you care to)
Now try to imagine the likely sentence, and to calculate the likely damages.
And that would be just the beginning

Personally I doubt it would come to prison term. Not for breaching undertaking anyway. Even more serious criminals escape that kind of sentencing so I cant see the logic in jailing a harmless old man (sorry TB) whose alleged fault is literacy--wise breach from having aired his opinions based on certain facts.
Anyway I agree the mccanns should be wary of the consequences as the repercussions for them is going to heavy. Bankrupting them would be easy let off. Jonathan Atkins and Jeff Archer were jailed for perjury and ended up bankrupt, but at least they didnt use a fraudulent fund to sue innocent people, if I were the mccanns I would back off. But as we know they had played the games long enough, and judging by their continual spins using PR in two countries, it looks like nothing short of an arrest is going to stop them heading towards a train crash.

What is certain is that since the start of the investigation there were incongruent and even contradictory situations concerning the witness statements; the telephone records of calls that were made and received on mobile phones that belonged to the couple and to the group of friends that were on holidays with them; the movements of people right after the disappearance of the little girl was noticed, concerning the state in which the bedroom from where the child disappeared from was found (closed window? open window? partially open window?) etc., and the mystery would only become even thicker due to the clues that were left by the already mentioned sniffer dogs. - The Words of a JUDGE in relation to the McCanns

There is no disputing it, they have been asking for it, REALLY asking for it, and for a very long time.
Spinning, like it's going out of fashion, telling the Police forces of both countries that they can't be asked to answer questions to help find their daughter, or to attend a reconstruction.
Gagging anyone who questioned their ludicrous myths, slurs and innuendos.
Add to that a large helping of purporting to be THE ambassadors of impeccable, justifiable and correct behaviour, even to the extent of leaving 3 tiny children so exposed that one of them just inexplicably disappeared.
Time does march on. The starters and the main meal at the Tapas have been swallowed, with a liberal amount of vino, and now would seem a good time to bring on the just desserts.

Faith in McCanns Faith
In addition to the specifics that the PJ and SY are now homing in on I wonder if the Police have looked at the above angle. How long have they been practising Catholics. Have they in the documented past, helped out at their local church(es) in the past (as helpers, church council participants, church day trips, childrens Sunday school etc). More importantly - when were they confirmed? (essential for any practicing Catholic). Have they been observed in Church - are they familiar with the workings of Mass? Confirmation dates would interest me very much.

I believe that they were both 'cradle catholics' i.e. they are catholics because that is what their parents and grandparents were. I imagine that as children, they would have done first communions, been confirmed, at the usual sort of ages for those sacraments. We do know from Kate McCann's mother that as adults, they weren't particularly devout. How long have they been practising Catholics.

This article has got tomorrows date on.....................
Oporto police handed Madeleine review
17/3/2012
Ten months after UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he had given orders to the Metropolitan Police to initiate a review into the case of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann comes news that Portuguese police are also taking another look at the evidence.
Reports in Portuguese media have revealed that a team of detectives from the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in Oporto have been appointed to review the original investigation following Madeleine McCann’s disappearance from Praia da Luz in May 2007.
The team of detectives is under the guidance of Helena Monteiro and is believed to have started their review some weeks back.
Police sources say the case has been handed to Oporto detectives to allow for a fresh look by detectives who are close to the case.
The case was formally shelved in July 2008 by the Attorney-General who said the case would be re-opened should new evidence emerge.
Sources close to the case in Portugal have told The Portugal News that they support the Portuguese review in that they hope it will conclude “an investigation which was ended while still in its infancy.”
McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell told UK media: “Kate and Gerry obviously welcome the work being done by the PJ in Oporto alongside that of the Met investigative team. They clearly hope that it will lead to the case being reopened in due course.
“There is good co-operation between the Met and the PJ, and Kate and Gerry remain grateful for the time and resources that have been put into the search for Madeleine”, adding: “They will not be discussing any details whilst both the Met investigative review and the PJ work is continuing, but clearly it is a positive development.”
On 12 May 2011 the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) announced that, at the request of the Home Secretary, it had agreed to bring its particular expertise to the Madeleine McCann case.
The then Commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson, considered the request and took the decision that on balance it was the right thing to do. This was subject to funding being made available by the Home Office, as this case is beyond the MPS’s jurisdiction.
The MPS have reiterated on several occasions that Portuguese authorities retain the lead.
While the MPS will not provide a running commentary on its involvement, known as Operation Grange, it is felt appropriate to make the remit available to the public and it is available in the related publications.
It is estimated that Operation Grange has cost British taxpayers more than two million pounds and reportedly boasts 37 officials who are working on the review.
According to the remit, investigators are “to examine the case and seek to determine, (as if the abduction occurred in the UK) what additional, new investigative approaches we would take and which can assist the Portuguese authorities in progressing the matter. Whilst ordinarily a review has no investigative remit whatsoever - the scale and extent of this enquiry cannot permit for such an approach. It will take too long to progress to any ‘action stage’ if activity is given wholly and solely to a review process”, the MPS explained.
Madeleine McCann disappeared from Praia da Luz on 3 May 2007 from an apartment where she was sleeping with her younger twin brother and sister while her parents dined at a nearby restaurant.

I would think that this has been discussed here at an earlier time, but I'll copy and paste a part of it, as I feel it's very appropriate to what is being discussed at the moment. This is part of a conversation between "SM" and the police in reference to Operation Grange
"Police: …I’ve only worked here 11 years but I would say it’s not common. We give information whilst it’s appropriate to produce but whilst there’s an investigation going on and where it’s potentially murder, we say very little, we say very little. You read a lot in the press but that doesn’t come from us. We deal with about 250 murders a year and all of them are dealt with in exactly the same way in terms of how we deal with the media"
